  1. I really don't know what to think of De Aza yet. I'm not sure I'm a fan of his swing, but it's possible he could make it work.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) Problem is we have to live with that now Well, hopefully he picks his game up this year and we don't have to. But like I said, if Rios hits like an all star, Quentin stays healthy and gives me the 50 that I'm thinking he has in him this year, and there aren't any other huge injuries amongst our starters...that's liveable. Basically, you're getting an extra 100 points in OPS compared with what Getz gave us on the IF last year.
  3. Twins sign Span to extension. 5 years, $16 million, $9 million option for 2015.
  4. 3-0 Cubs. Back to back doubles off of Harrell.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Yeah, I don't, and never though Teahen was a very good player. Nothing about his .271/.325.408 line makes me think he is anything even above average. Out of qualifying 3b last year in the big leagues, his OPS was 13/19. Ahead of guys like Kouzmanoff, Inge, Peralta, Feliz. It'd be really nice if we could get a little bit better out of him this year, but if nothing else goes wrong, we can live with that.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) A person without health insurance who needs serious medical treatment only indirectly costs us money. But those indirect costs are directly related to how broken our current system is.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) LOL, that Comcast Sox+Cubs commercial was amusing. Sox players talking about the post-season, and Cubs players talking about Wrigley and being in good shape. What does THAT tell you about where these teams think they are headed? I'm really liking these ads anyway. But yeah.
  8. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) Which one? "It's Black and White?" That's been running for over a month now. Some of us only watch this channel a few times a year.
  9. Retherford-Lillibridge-Konerko. I hope we never see that DP in the regular season.
  10. Mid-lineup, we hear a wind gust. Stone stops talking. We hear a crinkling noise Hawk: "Get that paper out of your mouth"
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I thought that was a pretty sick advertisement segment on tv a moment ago. ^ that.
  12. Pierre stranded after Jones K's. Sigh.
  13. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) If the CF camera continues to shake like it has, I will throw-up if they keep using it. 30-50 mph wind gusts. That's what happens when you play in a desert.
  14. Damn, Harrelson's voice brings a smile to my face.
  15. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) Man, I know it is only ST but Nunez is suffering major suckage. His ERA is 27.00 now. Hope he turns it around. Thurderbolt have you seen Nunez pitch yet? Any cmments? I was watching him last night against the Cubs. It was quite rough. He was struggling to throw strikes, and when he did throw strikes, everything was up.
  16. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) Wasn't Putz the guy who was lights out in Seattle a couple years back and has a decent relationship with Thornton? 2006-2007 combined, 0.83 WHIP, 1.86 ERA, 76 saves, 93 k's in 75 innings. He had a 317 OPS+ in 2007.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Yeah, seems like no excuse to me. Go to any college, and I bet those players would be lining up to catch a major league closer. I'll catch him. I'd pay for the experience. Just give me a whole lot of F***ing armor.
  18. Important nationally because Texas is a very large consumer of textbooks, and thus it sets many of the standards for the rest of the country. Things that are in the new Texas board of education standards: "Describe the causes and key organizations and individuals of the conservative resurgence of the 1980s and 1990s, including Phyllis Schafly, the Contract with America, the Heritage Foundation, the Moral Majority, and the National Rifle Association" "analyze the decline of the U.S. dollar including abandonment of the gold standard." ""laws of nature and nature's God" (Direct quotes) Also in there, an analysis of the book "The road to Serfdom", a major libertarian text. Things stripped out of this version: Thomas Jefferson. The entire word "Democratic". There's at least 1 more hearing on these. The sad thing is...this version is probably an improvement on the last one.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Nope, no need...I know the republicans pull that crap too, and that was part of my rant above. Screw them for doing it, too. I'm tired of that kind of politics, and as I stated earlier, it's getting worse and worse. So basically, you want a short, bi-partisan bill that incorporates 100% of everyone's ideas and fixes everything all at once
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Jenks said his arm strength was behind so i'm not shocked. Maybe he should put that weight back on. His calf was also supposedly sore the other day too.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Jenks worries me more than Linebrink because he's in a more important bullpen role this season and he's been shaky in ST and late last year. I bet you that few things would get Bobby seriously fired up like temporarily losing the closer's job to Putz.
