That's 95 pitches for Baker through 5.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) this is kind of...freaky Pretty soon he gets in the Twins' heads...they have to be thinking about it...

That's 40 right?

Here's the challenge

This will be interesting.

36/27.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) The record is 42 I believe. He's at 30 between the last 2 games...how was he doing at the end of his previous start?
-
Has anyone checked how many Mark needs to match Jenks's record from 2007?

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) Not even for a stud who would be a free agent after 2010? Frankly no. It'd be similar to trading McCarthy mid-2004. The only thing that is going to stop Hudson's value from going up over the next year is injury.
-
You know, now that I think about it, I'm somewhat surprised there aren't more pitchers who have wierd hand/finger anomalies. Or at least that we don't hear about it more often.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Honestly, I would but into this crap if there was a pattern of guys who had failed to hit here and then moved onto other organizations where they started living up to their "potential." But it just hasn't happened. We haven't had guys leaving here and suddenly turning into all-stars elsewhere. Which is why I think we'll wind up regretting moving Fields for pennies on the dollar. Because I think it won't be hard for another team to develop him. It's not like we haven't seen major flashes ourselves.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) If we trade Fields today, I will remember the transactions as a pretty pathetic day for Greg Walker's ability. I don't hold nearly as much against Walker for Anderson never developing as I do for others in the org. Fields though, that would be 95% on Walker. He got worse with time.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) I believe this is the opposite of a youth movement. At least hopefully Richard's arm will get a few weeks to recover from the long outings he's had recently. Unless it's a close game tonight and we need a LHP to come out of the bullpen to face a tough left handed batter. Thankfully, Minny doesn't have any of those, right?
-
When Josh Fields is traded and some other team works with him on his swing, perhaps in the NL, I think that's one we're really going to wind up regretting.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) Why don't cyclists use the really nice, brand-new bike paths along busy roads? If they exist we use them. Sometimes we even go out of the way to use them because they're so much safer. We just wish there were more of them.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) I think its sad that on Mac's show today they were saying the reason Oz was pissed is because of AJ calling out Alexei.....WTF would he be pissed about that? I'm surprised it took this long for someone to get on him. Personally, I think Alexei needs to go back to 2B. Perhaps because it was public and in the dugout on camera, instead of behind closed doors?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) I wonder if all of you who think eating meat is wrong would get mad at the Berbers, Australian aboriginees (sp?), Amazon tribes or Southeast Asian/Indian Ocean/Polynesian tribes who live today the same way (or pretty damned close at least) to how they lived hundreds if not thousands of years ago? I haven't waded in here, but there's a useful note here...those tribes were never able to come anywhere close to the population levels of today. The food service system we've developed, based largely on oil and natural gas, that has allowed this population explosion has produced entirely different things regarding the ability to find food and the necessity of different methods.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) I actually would like the Alexei 2B, Beckham SS, Nix 3B configuration. I was thinking about it earlier. Getz is not playing his way to the bench but it's worth considering whether reshuffling the team that way makes it better. That type of move feels to me like what we're doing with Richard. The moment something possibly clicks for a guy (Getz), we send him away.

Brian Anderson traded to Red Sox for Mark Kotsay

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Brian Anderson is now going to go on and hit a few hundred homers for the Red Sox. Fenway Park can make mediocre hitters great. His swing still needs a major overhaul, like it's had a couple times coming in to ST. I wonder if he'll listen to any other coaching staff more than ours. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) It seems that many believe the Rays could exercise the option merely for the purpose of trading him. We'll have to see. That would be an intelligent move by the Rays. Simple fact is though; they're not letting him walk for nothing.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) Kind of disappointed this means the end of Fields instead of Wise. Not that I like Fields, I just especially don't like Wise on this team. A shame Kotsay can't play OF anymore. Fields has plenty of options left and hopefully we're not totally writing him off yet. I'd like to see him swinging the bat everyday in AAA for at least a few weeks. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) Kotsay was DFA'd when the Red Sox got LaRoche. So can we send him to AAA or does he take a 25 man roster spot? -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) The former. And your description doesn't match what I've read. The cops didn't claim he broke in, the cops were CALLED by someone thinking they were breaking in, and asked for ID, which he has to do. And the cop was presented with ID. And arrested the guy anyway. That's sort of the point.
