  1. If you're Bartlett, don't you just try to foul off a few pitches and wait for Bobby to walk you?
  2. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) what's the LOB for this game? 8 for the Sox, 3 for the Rays.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) I see what you're saying. But let's not pretend Ozzie is a stat whore when it comes to managing. He goes with his gut probably as much, if not more, than any other manager in baseball. It's amazing how his gut seems to say the same thing every time. Going with your gut to me suggests going against the formula. The formula says righty/righty matchups for pitchers and righty/lefty matchups when you're at the plate, and he follows that religiously.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) But at the core, are the programs that offer health benefits to working poor bad? They are if they're done poorly, because they can be abused by businesses. Like Walmart does.
  5. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) idk why you dont bring in thorton in this situation 3 righties in a row.
  6. The Rays current line: 3 runs, 3 hits, 3 errors. The Sox line: 4 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors.
  7. Pods is just ridiculous. Where the Hell has this guy been?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) You mean Linebrink? Hernandez, Bartlett, Upton next. 3 righties. We'll see Linebrink, or less likely Dotel.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:56 PM) And if you want to look back at my scouting analysis I've said Anderson was going to have trouble hitting big league pitching dating back to my scouting write-ups at FutureSox when he was one of the SOx top prospects. The thing that has bothered me the most about this whole mess is that we've actually seen him make adjustments, and then a few weeks later when he comes back from the bench or the next season after he's back from injury, he's right back to his old habits. I always felt like that was my biggest issue with how he was coached; every time I saw improvement from him, he went back to the bench, and came back worse than he left.
  10. Did anyone pay the $ for Gameday premium? I want to know what the "Hates to face" pitch is for Josh Fields.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) yep Well, at least he swung on pitch 2.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) This is your moment, Slayer. We're bunting with Beckham?
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) ohmygodcqsmiled :Swoons
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:47 PM) Your right there is a conspiracy against a former 1st round draft pick because it makes Kenny look really good that BA hasnt panned out. Does "Ozzie really doesn't like his attitude" equal a conspiracy?
  15. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) I stopped right there because that's simply not true. It's a shame you stopped because he elaborated a lot after that...
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) If he was such a hot commodity why arent teams beating down the door to trade for him? Because it's looked for 3 years like he was about to be released and available for nothing.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) Thats the biggest bunch of garbage I've ever seen. The guy has one of the worse swings in baseball and will never be able to hit enough to start. Same with Fields (who doesn't have the bat speed to make it). To my eyes, there have been times where it has looked like he has had a very solid swing. Coming in to 2007, for example, before he was hurt. Coming in to camp in 2008 as well. I could be wrong, but both of those times he seemed to be a lot more under control and balanced and was putting together a much shorter swing. In 07, he was benched and by the time Erstad was hurt he was back standing up straight and grounding out again, then he hurt his wrist. In 08, ditto, benched, and all those bad habits came back.
