  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:47 PM) Tough night for Nix. Nix is not a good matchup for RHP right now. Especially one like Greinke.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) Honestly, unless we offer up Poreda/Richard in a package again as we acquire a big time starter, nothing makes sense. And the way they're pitching, I don't want to see them go.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) lol believe me the average liberal knows this, just read Huffpo comments. I still don't know who they'll run who will be anything but a sacrificial lamb.
  4. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) Nice feeling isn't it. Of course, in two weeks it could be the opposite. It could be, but there's time before the trade deadline and we've got a big bat coming back anyway. There's no good reason at all to rush things this year. The only obvious trade is a selling-mode trade sending out Dye or Thome.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) I'm going under the conservative evaluation that Quentin won't make it back and last for long this year...Plan B/C/D. No way a GM makes a trade right now then has the guy he trades for get benched behind Quentin, even if there's only a 33% chance that Q comes back healthy.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:41 PM) Where would any of those guys play? Really, if KW makes any deal right now with how this team is playing its because he's decided to clear some space, maybe even for Allen. There really is no where for anyone to play that gives us a big upgrade.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) Unless it's a superstar 2nd baseman, I am puzzled as to what KW would be looking to upgrade on this current team. No reason to get a CF with Quentin's likely return. And with our roster and minors as constructed, acquiring an infielder would just be silly.
  8. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) maybe they can fix BA With the size of their OF that wouldn't be a bad move by them.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Would they be willing to give up Lewis? Winn has been rumored to be coming here for 3-5 years, seemingly. How much money would we have to eat on Rowand's contract? Will the Giants subsidize ala the Thome trade? Who would we be willing to give up to save the money from the minors? Frankly, trading any talent at all for Rowand would just be silly even if they were eating 1/2 of his remaining deal.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) Are you trying to hint at the Dye for pitching deal? That's about the only thing the Sox could legitimately be talking about with the Giants...the Sox going in to selling mode.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) The return of A-row? [half green] You beat me by that much... Anyway...don't know anyone the Giants have that I would want to make us better this season except Rowand. And that'd be a silly trade.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:32 PM) The implication from the tweet was that something is brewing. Possibly with the Giants. Rowand's coming back?!?!
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) The nice thing is that the pen has worked 1.2 IP in the last three games. They have gotten a nice break. Seriously, if the rotation can stay in this groove, there's no reason to keep the extra LHP in the bullpen if Quentin comes back. Hold Wise and Anderson and send down Gobble; gives you an OF bat/PH/PR from both sides of the plate.
  14. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) Scotty has 21 RBIs. tahts so stupid! Danksy doens't have his best control tonight, but getting the job done. Scott had 25 RBI's in all of 2005.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) Was UGa's first baseman 7 foot tall? I love Beckham like he's my second wife, but he has got to get those throws down. With a really good arm, playing 3b instead of SS makes your throw longer, wouldn't that make it much more likely that a throw is going to sail on you?
  16. Olivo guns down Wise at 3rd on the double steal try.
  17. Here's at least one possible scandal guess.
  18. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Why not? I really don't know a ton about basketball, but I do know Johnson can score points, is still relatively young, and can play the 2 or 3. Does he have a large contract or not play D? He's a really inefficient scorer, and he's one of those guys who always needs the ball in his hands. He's basically Ben Gordon except not as good of a shooter. Better rebounder and defender, but he's just not going to fit well with the Bulls.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) Why? If Nix has the better OPS against RHP's AND plays significantly better defense at 2B, what's the strongest argument for Chris? Nix's OPS against RHP is only .651, and in 38 at bats he's hitting .181 against them. Getz is hitting .244 against RHP and currently has an identical .651 OPS until his next AB against Greinke.
