  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) Ya it was fun. I had a 2 hr meeting in the middle of hte day but otherwise didn't get a damn thing done. Some of us are still working...
  2. Ok Denver...well done. Now you have to hold 2 games at home.
  3. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) Why did Joba only pitch 2/3 of an inning tonight? Adam Jones hit the ball off his leg.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) Doesn't Axelrod represent a few Sox players? He doesn't show up on Kalapse's list of agents on the contract page, but there are a few guys with no agent listed.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) Someone needs to hire Kenny's speechwriter because you know that isn't what he was thinking when Peavy turned them down. Picture that statement being read by the President...
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) I wouldn't, unless the PTBNL were Broadway and McCulloch or Egbert or something. But if it was Hudson and another solid guy, too much. I think Oswalt is nearing the decline. Did one of the pages I missed firmly establish that it was Hudson as a PTBNL or that he was on the list?
  7. One of the potential Republican stalling techniques on the Climate Change bill is to force the Dems to have to read the bill aloud in committee, all 900 pages, plus the 450+ amendments. In response...Henry Waxman has hired a speed reader. I'm not joking.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) Stop making sense. KW said he's been working on this for 11 months, gets an agreement and all Peavy has to say is no for it all to be for nothing. I've always wondered that when they trade guys with no trades. I think the only explanation is just above every player will move if you make it attractive enough. It could also be that the Padres are just that desperate to move his contract. Towers is supposedly still over $5 million above the $40 million he's under orders to get their team salary to this season. Part of the reason this may have taken a year could also be that the Padres wanted to see some of our guys (Poreda) as they move up and as they develop, and the Sox have added new tradeable pieces as their younger levels have developed too.
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) Time to root for the Jays to tank and make Doc available. Other than that, who is there available that is worth pursuing? Bedard? When does King Felix hit FA? Lackey isn't getting traded. Haren? Webb over the offseason? Bedard is a FA at the end of this offseason. Webb has a club option this offseason that is sure to be picked up unless he dies.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:05 PM) I'd offer a similar package, don't know if the Dbacks would bite, but Haren is freaking legit and that contract is much better. I have difficulty buying that the D-Backs are going to go in to dumping mode after their run 2 octobers ago. Seriously, go look at their roster...don't they have to be better than this?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) Did Dan Haren and/or Miguel Cabrera ever sign extensions? The D-Backs extended Haren through 2012.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:08 AM) Right after roughly the best deal Pax ever made as a GM. Swapping draft picks with Phoenix...swapping Crawford to NY for a pick, Swapping Curry to NY for cap space and a pick...he's got some doozy's.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) I also hope that KW has done his research about any player he trades for, and if that player will show up on the list of the 100 or so players that tested positive during 2005. 2003.
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) Gratuitous Filibuster Post of the Day. So...Mark 2 Market accounting sucks right?
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) Can anyone think of any decent lefties that Betemit coult fetch us? Wilson Betemit for Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, or maybe even Gio Gonzalez?
  16. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) I guess we'll see who is more motivated to get this deal done, the Sox or the Padres. Either could kick in some of that option money to placate Peavy. The Padres really don't have money to be kicking in right now, otherwise they wouldn't be doing this in the first place.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Swisher's hot start wont continue, watch. Until yesterday, Swisher had an OPS of .450 in May. Brent Lillibridge's season numbers (Similar # of AB's) was .451. For 3 weeks, Swisher was Brent Lillibridge wiht fewer hits. After his HR yesterday it's .547 in May.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) Looks like the Slayer, Flowers, Allen, Shelby, Gartrell, Reterford rumors can now be put to rest. The Sox people have been saying today they wouldn't give up Slayer for Peavy straight up.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 21, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) He needs to mke the Jake P trade so people will forget the ones from over the winter Why so many people want Vazquez and Swisher's contract and Lillibridge-esque month of May back, I have no clue
  20. Not just any CQ...only TCQ could get us on the board there.
  21. Brian Anderson is 2/3 with singles to CF and RF!
  22. The Padres have completed their end of the trade! For Tony Gwynn Jr.
  23. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) Let Corky pitch Corky? Hell, let Swisher pitch.
