  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) No matter how this season ends, the 2008 White Sox are a fun team to watch. Even when we went down 3 runs in the first, I just had a feeling that theyd come back and make a game out of it. Lately they seem to be really finding themselves. You know what bothers me the most about this team? How they'll go through stretches where they're just ridiculously fun to watch, when the pitching keeps them in games even when they fall behind and then they're going to make a run even if it fails or even if something blows up...and then they'll go through runs where it seems that unless they score 10 early they're just listless. Games like today are the fun ones.
  2. I don't know if I've ever seen a manager bring in a new pitcher and then have the new pitcher start off with the intentional walk.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) Please remember this when begging for the Sox to claim Washburn. When you add in the 5 just miss 'ems....I never want to see Washburn on the Sox. But it would only have cost us $15 million. He can't be that much worse than Sheets or Captain Cheeseburger can he?
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Why?w The thing that really pissed me off on him was the RAVE act, and the shenanigoats surrounding how Biden rammed it through the Senate. It had the brilliant idea of saying that the oner of a property and anyone working on a property could be held accountable if anyone did an illegal drug on the property. The beauty of this was that you didn't have to have a clue it was going on, so if say, you were promoting a series of concerts (Which I happened to be doing at the time he passed the thing) you could be held liable and jailed for 10 years if someone snuck a joint in to your concert through the pat-down. The best idea anyone ever came up with for how to respond to that idiotic piece of legislation was this one.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) urgh...I think biden is hilarious and very knowledgeable on foreign affairs which is probably a big thing to push considering people worried about Russia but I'm still kinda underwhelmed. I'd rather have Hilldog than those 3. I really, really don't like Joe Biden.
  6. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 02:03 PM) There'd be a third airport pretty quick as well, I think. I think the demand for one of those would depend an awful lot on what energy prices do over the next few years.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) If Miami is dumb enough to cut Ronnie Brown, Angelo better be the first to get him. He was a top 3 RB last year before getting hurt. Can they move him to LG?
  8. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) Which is why I called it desperate to say we are evil. That stuff is a long time ago. Plus Iraq was to stop the evil torture that their government was doing. Sometimes you have to meet evil with really nasty. Why is it that only these incredulously large things get classified as "Evil"? How many people have to die before an action that is wrong becomes classified as evil? Frankly though I will agree that sometimes you have to meet evil with pretty darn nasty. But the one caveat I'll add to that is that you better be able to control the really darn nasty and punish the people doing it when the orders are taken too far.
  9. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) I went door to door for Kerry and spoke with a lot of Republican voters. The most common objection - "Yeah, he's been a mess but Kerry would be worse." Not exactly a ringing endorsement. The funny thing was though, I'm pretty sure that getting that single message across was the main goal of the people running the Bush campaign. The Swift Boat ads, all the flip-flopper stuff...all of that was designed to make people think Kerry would be somehow worse than the debacle we were already running with. By no coincidence...I'd say you're seeing a lot of the same right now.
  10. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 09:19 AM) They will annonce tomorrow. Betcha. Tuesday is the "big news" day. It might even leak tonight. The problem is, there's still those olympics hanging over the media cycle, even though the Phelps run is now over. I wonder if the VP pick doesn't already know that he or she has been chosen and they're just holding the nomination announcement.
  11. How long does a VP's speech typically take to prepare? Because esp. with the Dems, the clock is sort of running...
  12. QUOTE (griffey17 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) we will see Poreda before the end of the season Probably true but hopefully they hold out until the rosters expand.
  13. QUOTE (buckweaver @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) Does this change the time of the game or is it still 1:05? I think that it'll probably still be the normal game time, I don't think TBS changes them when they get a game.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) Can "rain" be an option
  15. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 06:18 PM) Poor CQ. He gets on base 4 times today and doesn't score once.` But...he wasn't hit by a pitch. I think he'll take it.
  16. Seriously, how the Hell did we win that game?
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Godd question. Maybe Griffey will casue I think Ozzie plans on resting Thome. Sp we DH's? Maybe Anderson gets to play CF tomorrow? Swisher could cover first and Konerko DH NO.
  18. Well, if you can get 6 innings, 1 run earned, 110 pitches out of Gavin in Oakland, and have him leave with the lead, I'd say you should be pretty happy.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) You can find his splits for each month...just subtract his April stats. Frome June 1 to today he's at .291 .343 .369 .712.
  20. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) I was just lookin at Cabrera and how he hangs around the .270 mark.. I was wondering how is he doing since May or June 1st till today. If you go to Baseball-Reference.com and click on the game logs, there's a function that allows you to do that by clicking on the start date and the end date over which you want to compile your data.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) This reminds me of the game in Seattle earlier this year where Gavin kept asking for it, and finally the floodgates opened. If Ozzie tries to push him for a full 6 that might happen.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Hawk is tearing him apart about going to 3-2 on every batter. Hawk really seems to get on Gavin, especially compared to his analysis of Javy. While Hawk's right...doesn't it seem like all our pitchers wind up having to do that against the A's?
  23. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:23 PM) Is the WGN gun fast or is Coop unleashing Gavin's fastball? Gameday has him consistently at 91
  24. Oakland has 1 player in their lineup hitting over .260.
