  1. He gets on the Ballot in CA and he has my vote.
  2. QUOTE(Soxy @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 07:35 AM) Iowa was rendered pointless long ago. Seriously? Do you actually think that? John Kerry's campaign was totally in the toilet before he won Iowa, and winning Iowa won him the election because of that whole "momentum" thing. Edwards finished 2nd in Iowa and it turned him into the #2 candidate. Until we actually reform this system and get these 2 states out of their "locked into first every year" role, which is almost entirely unjustified by anything except recent precedent, a small, agricultural state in the Midwest with a very homogeneous racial population will keep deciding the Presidency.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 07:41 AM) I think before it is over the money will come up to about even. I've read a couple articles that indicate the usual Republican donors are waiting and seeing before making donations. There could be a lot of late money for the GOP. That could actually help them. I can't see the regulars sitting out this election. And like it or not, some people donate because they do not like the opponent. If the Dems nominate Clinton or Obama, there will be plenty of "anti" money coming out. Way more than say Edwards. The Christian groups right now are sitting on several hundred million dollars that will enter this race at some point. There isn't a clear "Jesus in the White House" guy for them so far yet as there was last year, so that money really hasn't been felt yet.
  4. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 08:06 AM) The Brewers problem is Braun is a terrible thirdbaseman. Hall would be a good option for third if Braun could be moved to the OF ala Josh Fields. The Brewers problem is defense as Hall, Weeks, Hart and Braun are all below average and Fielder is average. I think they move soembody possibly Weeks to move Hall to second. Imagine the young pitching they could get to go with Gallardo and Parra if they moved Braun. If A-Rod left the Yankees think Hughes for Braun........ The Brewers could move a young position player and have an incredible rotation for the next 5 years not even looking at the Suppan, Bush, Sheets, Capuano debacle. So, what you're saying is they could use a solid defensive player who doesn't necessarily put up good numbers with the bat. Say, like a Uribe. Uribe for Braun it is. Seriously though, that's one team that might actually have a need for the guy if we tried to package him with something.
  5. I think about 3 days ago that ball from Pujols collided with the ball Manny hit off of K-Rod somewhere around the orbit of Venus.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) Anyone see Kucinich on Colbert Report last night? I was alternately amazed, entertained and confused. You just have to say Kucinich 3 times into a mirror and the video will appear. Kucinich, Kucinich, Kucinich.
  7. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 12:27 PM) Is it really wrong to expect someone like that to give up some of their earnings? The problem is people with money fail to distinguish between their peers (people with millions) and the normal everyday joe. He's asking people to either a) give up more money out of their own pocket on their own initiative, or B) give up more money out of their own pocket in the form of increased taxes and more social services programs. He fails to understand that people aren't as fortunate as him. He's asking the public to give up .5% of their income when he gives up .0005% (made up numbers yes, but you know what I mean). I think it's fine to expect him to do more than the average joe. The argument is the same for the guilt-ridden as*holes out in hollywood. Last year, according to tax returns, John Edwards's family earned somewhere around $1.2 million in income last year, and donated roughly $350,000 to charities including Habitat and the International Rescue Committee.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) What defines someone as "middle class"? Income? Values? Birthright? Childhood? Early jobs? Perhaps we need an operational definition of "middle class" if this discussion is to go anywhere valuable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_middle_class has a nice start. For an example of how it matters, take John Edwards...who grew up in a decidedly middle class family but was able to go to college and become a highly successful attorney before entering politics. He now gets criticized for advocating anti-poverty programs because he's still rich and hasn't given up everything he owns to help the poor, but he also is, as we've heard many times, the son of a mill worker.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 05:57 AM) That's a funny joke until we think about Bill Frist killing cats and ascending to Majority Leader. Why do you think I picked that job? Glad someone caught the very subtle reference.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) If not corporate money, what would the candidates stuff up their bums? Paging Senator Craig...
  11. Still vastly outraised by Steven's Wrist.
  12. Less than 2 days of the Iraq war = No Presidential Candidate has to raise a cent of private dollars.
  13. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) Al Gore posted a bunch of videos regarding issues on his Current TV website. Could this be the beginning of Gore 08? Can Al Gore do anything between now and Super Tuesday that will not be viewed instantly as a sign of him getting into the race? "Al Gore has regrown his beard. Does he want to return to the 1800's tradition of Bearded Presidents?" "Al Gore has lost weight. Could this be a sign he's ready to declare?" "Al Gore killed and drank the blood of a puppy. Could this now mean he's interested in the position of Senate Majority Leader instead of President?"
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) If ARod opts out, I do see the Rangers trying to make a splash in the free agent market. I imagine they would try to get more pitching, but there really isn't any worthwhile starters out there IIRC. Maybe they could make a run at Mariano? A team like the Rangers is going to have to gamble on one of the old or hurt guys if they want to grab a pitcher this offseason. Colon, Schilling, Garcia might make sense for them, try to turn a rental into a good trade chip or some draft picks.
  15. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 01:03 PM) Kenny won't deal a SP without getting one (even a prospect) in return. With the depth we have at SP, that'd be a fairly stupid position to lock yourself into.
  16. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) The day Jerry Owens has an OBP of .351 gimme a holler. .339 after the AS Break as a rookie. .361 in AAA Charlotte before his callup this year.
  17. And Neal Cotts began to regail the remainder of the bullpen with stories about what it was like to pitch in the ALCS...
  18. That appears to be a very well fashioned cane.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) I really just hate that Joe Buck called him one of the most patient hitters in the game when - atleast on my scale - that is just untrue and he's stating that based on his "reputation" alone. He walks quite a bit, there's no question about that, but 77 walks in 145 games is not exactly what I'd call one of the most patient hitters in the game; if you are going to state that, then Paul Konerko, Kelly Johnson, and Kevin Millar are also among the most patient hitters in the game as well. He is #7 in baseball in # of pitches seen per plate appearance.
  20. QUOTE(Brian26 @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Any deal with the Angels must include Howie Kendrick. We already have at least a decent looking young 2nd baseman. We don't have a spot for Kendrick. At least give me someone who looks like they belong at SS, don't give me someone we have to move there.
  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Interesting. I'd be curious to see what explanation he has for the CO2 levels being multiple standard deviations from what they have been in hundreds of thousands of years. If he can offer an explanation as to what else has caused such an outlying spike, I'd love to hear it. You know what I found interesting? Every year for the past couple years, when those "number of hurricane predictions" are made, if they're inaccurate, I keep winding up hearing people cite that as evidence that these kooky scientists have no idea what they're talking about with this anthropogenic climate change stuff. Like last year, where the prediction was for a high number again following Katrina's year, then it turned out to be an El Nino year, and somehow that hurricane prediction being wrong proved science isn't there yet. And yet, if that's the guy making the most public predictions as the article claims...
  22. STOP CARRYING THIS POS GAME YOU B****ES
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) I can't tell you how annoyed I am about watching the Chargers/Raiders game right now. And the longer the Boys/Pats game stays a good game, the more pissed I get.
