If Jerry Owens could hit .300 and take a few walks, with his speed, I would have no problem at all with him manning a corner OF spot. He fills a need, and with the talent we have at say, DH, we can sacrifice a few HR's to put some balance into the lineup. Unfortunately, Owens has shown nothing so far that suggests he'll be able to turn into a .300 hitting slap hitter like we need him to.

He just hasn't developed as rapidly in terms of throwing strikes as they hoped. Last year he averaged about a walk every 2 innings or less it looks like...which had him coming out in the 5th inning of most games. If we get him, we're getting him on the "Coop will fix him" grounds, even though he's not in the territory of Floyd, he's no longer a #7 in all of baseball prospect kind of guy.
