  1. Someone should make a thread about that, maybe Hahn will get the idea.
  2. Well, Escobar is a free agent after this year so who cares about 2022 with that? If you trade for an OF, and they have control…that OF is your right fielder next year! Or, what are the odds that Jiminez and Robert play 150 games in 2022? If we haven’t learned the lesson about having 4 starting quality OFs being useful this year, what will it take?
  3. Cleveland is in their rough stretch starting soon, the White Sox have a really rough stretch in July and especially August. If we don’t get some separation when Cleveland has to face Houston and Tampa, that sets them up to make a run in August.
  4. And Eaton. And he’ll, no one knew about Moncada this year, if he or Rodon flopped you couldn’t be surprised.
  5. We traded a pittance for James Shields and now Burdi will come up this year and we are the 2016 champs!
  6. At the same time, you can’t ignore the fact that so many Sox fans spent the offseason yelling “we have a ton of injury risks what are we going to do about having enough depth!!!!”
  7. Ok I was mentally not ready to be down 7-1 in a game Rodon started.
  8. Come on Jose give a reason to turn this back on.
  9. That was good shit. Not throwing it back onto the field.
  10. Because Carlos Rodon has earned his choice of catcher.
  11. I think I have some credibility to cash in on saying “no don’t make a trade this is awful”, pretty much for the last decade in fact. So yeah, I’m willing to mostly take that risk. That said, I would not under any circumstances trade the other Tatis brother.
  12. 1. Turn those around. After the AS break the Sox get the Astros (joy!), a weak series against the Twins, the Brewers, Royals, and into August - where they have 28 games scheduled and 21 of them are against teams that are above .500. Obviously anything can happen, but it will be very difficult to gain ground over that 7 week period even if Cleveland also has a rough schedule. Plus, Cleveland will get people back eventually too. They have a cushion right now, but it is only 1 game in the loss column. This is a stretch where just fielding a decent lineup could provide really important separation. 2. Yes something else could happen. In fact something else almost certainly will. That is also exactly why now would have been the time to pay a premium price and fill at least one of these holes. This is our chance to get wins. Treading water against the weak teams will leave them going into the rough stretch in a weaker spot. 3. The Sox have gotten very lucky in actually getting wins out of these replacements, but you can’t honestly tell me you have confidence in Brian Goodwin hitting second regularly. An extra decent major leaguer in that lineup makes the whole lineup better and probably helps some people mentally with those slumps.
  13. IMO, this lineup needs the help way more over the next month than they are likely to at the trade deadline since some people will be returning or close to it by that time, so you'd get way more value out of an offensive contributor over the next few weeks than you would by waiting. The need right now actually justifies paying more. Unless for some reason you thought there was a high chance of your starting pitching falling apart, that is.
  14. Be glad that they're in Chicago this weekend, because the Pacific Northwest is facing is OMG level heat.
  15. I believe that deadline remains dead. You can claim players on waivers in August and have them get on your playoff roster, but you cannot arrange trades for guys being passed through waivers.
  16. I love that you are so desperate to make a personal attack that you will pretend to know my TV viewing habits.
  17. Ah, my bad, I saw Lynn and not Liam. Apologies!
  18. Except for the dramatic dropoff in his spin rates the last 2 games???
  19. Cease yesterday. Lowest curveball spin rate of the year, lowest slider spin rate of the year, lowest fastball spin rate since July 2019.
  20. I buy that approach completely with Anderson, Frank was right that Anderson has to be looking to CF and RF and when he does that well he winds up pulling offspeed stuff into the gaps or over the wall. I buy that approach with Frank Thomas, because he's one of the best hitters in big league history. But someone like Leury? If pulling the ball works for him and keeps him employed, try it.
  21. Where would the white sox be in this game if Leury hadn't been trying to pull a first pitch fastball in the 2nd inning?
