  1. If they had pulled Cease maybe the tying run is now on second?
  2. Benetti: “you gotta think that either way this will be Cease’s last batter”. TLR: ha!
  3. Oh now the lefty comes in. Thankfully he can only pitch to one batter. Right?
  4. Triple on pitch 107 with a left ready in the bullpen. Thanks Tony. At least already down.
  5. What's interesting about yesterday's game is that suddenly yesterday he's changing his pitching style to adapt to the lack of sticky stuff. Yesterday's game was the lowest %age of changeups he's thrown in any start since 2019 and the highest %age of sliders he has ever thrown in any game in his career. He was using the slider to get his strikeouts back now that he has lost some of the effectiveness on the changeup and fastball. It didn't win the game for him, but it might eventually be a path to doing so.
  6. Lucas Giolito's last 2 starts have had a lower spin rate on his fastball and slider than any game he's pitched since early 2019. He's in the "high drop in his spin rate" category. And it happened conveniently at the exact same time they started checking. That doesn't mean he can't pitch without the stuff, but he absolutely was using. Figure out how to deal with that, because it happened.
  7. Peavy was decent enough in 2012, but by the time he was traded in 2013 I never wanted to read another quote from him. He talked a big game and couldn't back it up, and I think some of his "over the top intensity!!!" brushed off on Sale in a bad way.
  8. Ty. You literally just made me control-F on every page of this thread trying to figure out how I missed it.
  9. I do not see anyone having mentioned Jake Peavy in this thread. No one talked more while doing less to back it up.
  10. B-R seems to put it somewhere in the $10-$12 million range, which seems plausible. Of course, that's under a CBA which will have expired.
  11. I got 60% of the way through a workout in that half inning alone.
  12. Well, the several hundred rpm drop in spin rate starting last week is pretty compeling.
  13. Just to Quantify, this appears to have been Maeda’s first start since the substance checks began, and it was his lowest fastball spin rate start this year.
