  1. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) It's also something they've done consistently since Pelosi became minority leader btw. Have any other Democrats actually faced indictments for bribery since Pelosi became Minority Leader?
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Bulls are around 19 million under the cap. We don't need to throw in players to match salaries. That's a higher number than I've heard. Are we sure what the cap is yet? Also, Garnett does make somewhere in the $18 million range. Wow, I think you're actually right, depending on the final cap number.
  3. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Crankiness??? My wife would have missed the last half decade if she let crankiness keep her out of the game. Your wife is in the game? Can she pitch? Or hit? Or play defense? If so, the Cubs could use her.
  4. QUOTE(Goldmember @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) unfit based on these circumstances? now that's comical... I'd say that the "driving with an unrestrained baby on your lap" is a much better argument personally, but this fits in nicely alongside.
  5. It's a step in the right direction. A call for a resignation on the day the indictments are handed down would be another necessary step.
  6. Interestingly, Paramount Pictures has pledged to make the publicity for this film "Carbon Neutral".
  7. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) I'd actually like to see someone bean him instead of saying s***, they got no balls to back their decision up. Escobar?
  8. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) I fully expect 90+, but to say this hasn't played their best ball is a bit of hyperbole. I'd like to see them have another 30-15 stretch, or better, but I don't expect it. On paper, you're totally right. But the counterpoint is this; just watching the team, they don't seem like they're firing on every cylinder they could be. Even during the winning streaks, there's still a couple pitchers struggling, some bullpen guy falling apart, guys making silly plays on defense, etc. They just seem like they can play a lot better than this just from watching them.
  9. ABC News is reporting that Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert has had his name turn up and is now a target of the FBI investigation into the Jack Abramoff Bribery scandal. Dennis Hastert was the #1 recipient of contributions from Mr. Abramoff from 1998 to 2004. Take with a grain of salt, as it is based on anonymous sources, but anywho...would anyone now like to guess why he's so angry about the FBI being able to search Congressional offices if they get a warrant?
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) I would give up both picks and Tyson for KG. Unless we have a shot at Oden or Noah next year. Which we will, unless NY improves dramatically. Do you seriously expect that to happen?
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) BOTH Bryan Colangelo held a press conference an hour ago though and now it seems he wants Bargnani and will take him no matter what. 90% of the press conference he talked about him I heard and Raptor fans are kind of saddened because they wanted LA. Bosh will be playing the 5 and it seems like BC is trying to make an exact replica of the PHX Suns offense. Can we be certain he wasn't trying to talk him up in order to spur trade discussions?
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 24, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) MVP in 1990,1992,1993 all pre-steriod. That's more MVPs than Frank. He had 7 or 8 gold gloves. Prior to 1998 which is near or around when he started juicing, the guy was top 5 in MVP voting 7 times. He only struck out as many as 100 times his rookie year. Over 500 career steals, the majority coming before he was juiced. Easily one of the top 15 pre-steroid, ignore the steroids and he may be the greatest player ever. Frank had a 7 year stretch when he was very dominant offensively. There is no comparision between the players overall, however. So given that a lot of folks were already juicing in the mid to late 80's, and there were steroids that were known to make people stronger without turning them into post-99-Bonds style monsters, like the stuff Palmeiro was on for so long, is there some reason I should assume that he didn't ever try the stuff until 98?
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Eh, I woulda sat Big Jim. Presumably Ozzie would have also if the injury was anything noteworthy at all. Which probably means we're making a bigger deal of it than JT or OG or HS do.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Ugh. Of course everyone will love this until Mack starts giving away games with his D, then everyone will hate it again. Brutal idea if this is on a more permanent basis. Mack is a terrible CF. To be honest I would rather see them move Pods to CF and let Mack play LF. All things considered, you're probalby right, if this is going to wind up being more than a temporary arrangement. Which is pretty sad considering the butcher job Pods does out there sometimes. Come on Brian, get some f***ing hits.
  15. Tom Delay pulls a Blagojevic and holds up a Colbert interview as strongly supporting his position. Cached photos here.
  16. I don't know if Ozzie's words equate to "a majority". We'll see.
  17. With the way Haren's been pitching, yeah, makes sense for Mack to start in CF. Just hope it doesn't cost us in the field. And nice to still see JT in there.
  18. Cole Hamels will miss his next scheduled start against the Mets with shoulder soreness. Tim Worrel was placed on the 15 day DL by the Giants Jason Botts was called up from AAA by the Rangers and replaced the struggling Phil Nevin as their DH. Kendry Morales was 3/5 with a home run in his ML Debut with the Angels. Chris Carpenter will miss his next start with swelling in his back.
  19. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) This gas thing is just another example that they don't get it. Yup. Their solution to high energy costs is to pay for the energy for people, instead of making their vehicles use less energy. As I said...Brilliant.
  20. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ May 24, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Borchard took Maddux deep today... and it looks the cubs are about to be swept by the lowly marlins Therefore, Florida Marlins > Chicago White Sox?
  21. The Cubs have the 3rd worst ERA in the NL.
  22. Brilliant. Yet another reason for me not to buy a GM vehicle, as if I needed more.
  23. Pat Robertson has reportedly broken the world record for leg pressing, by over 660 pounds.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2006 -> 09:13 AM) ^^^^^^^^^^ It's funny when some people actually state that Pods is faster. It's not even close, in my opinion. Agreed, although Pods probably has better base stealing instincts and technique.
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) Regardless of your opinion on what should be, this is the issue that causing the problem. At least in public that's what they say the issue is.
