  1. If we already had hundreds of thousands infected, we would see it in the emergency room admissions, and it's almost impossible to somehow cover that up when everyone going into those spots has a cell phone. After last weekend, I could believe the infections right now just went from some thousands to tens of thousands nationwide, and that those new infections will show up as a surge in hospital visits later this week.
  2. Worked for Mike Glennon. Anyway, so @bmags yeah if they can spend money on this they could go for Brady.
  3. I'd sorta like him for the Bears but I think he'll command more money than I'd pay for him.
  4. That's a complicated one. I guess I'd pack as though I was going, but then be ready on Thursday or Friday to pull the plug based on what the situation looks like, and make sure you bring as many essential supplies with you as possible if you do go?
  5. I'm going to be using a vastly higher amount of data because all of my classes that normally required 0 data for me to present are turning into streamed videos.
  6. "Herd immunity" = a lot of people die. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/mar/15/epidemiologist-britain-herd-immunity-coronavirus-covid-19
  7. Had he just done that, they'd have just ignored him. They probably will anyway, but perhaps some people in the government might note the disaster they created.
  8. Dulles Too, basically every international Terminal with passengers from Europe. New York, Boston, Houston will all have this. Jesus Christ what the Hell did they do. They just massively multiplied this because foreigners are scary. My God.
  9. At least the US has tested that all of them are healthy.
  10. This will all be the Cubs’ fault.
  11. Japan jumped in with extremely intensive tracking of possible infected contacts and chains. There’s an example of them realizing they had a problem in one area with cab drivers being infected so they closed that transmission method down. The US, by its failures to recognize this and test for it early - has totally lost the ability to do so, even if we ever had the resources to do so.
  12. The president of UT Austin and his spouse are both infected.
  13. If everything slammed shut right now I could see mid-April, but we're not doing that.
  14. No the people who put this together are just idiots. Everyone who is sick should be tested, I don't care if it's just a cold. If handled correctly, people panicking and running in for a test will keep people alive. You need appropriate safety equipment among the first responders. The worst that happens is you find out you have a cold and you are happy with the result. If the test takes 8-48 hours, getting the results before people reach the worst part of the symptoms will save lives.
  15. While scrolling through Twitter I've seen literally dozens saying "I've got all the symptoms and I can't get tested" or "I had all the symptoms in February and couldn't get tested". If I've seen dozens there are probably more than a hundred just on Twitter, and if there's a hundred on twitter there's got to be what, thousands of those in the real world? A couple of them are mentioned on the front page of my newspaper today.
  16. Apparently Austin has its first 2 positive tests after the ramp-up from 20 tests yesterday.
  17. yeah the labs in Texas can reportedly test 20 people or so per day for the whole state right now and there are known clusters in Houston and Dallas. They're only testing you if you're rich or if you came into contact with a symptomatic person from China. They probably used a few tests on passengers coming in from that last cruise ship as well. It's only within the last day or so that they were able to increase that number.
  18. There are people here you are saying should just shut up and die.
  19. It’s only far too high if people can get treatment. The center is the outbreak in northern italy reportedly has seen a death rate >5% according to the Wall Street journal.
  20. We are at the point now that countries like Iran, Italy, and the US are exporting this back to parts of China.
