  1. I don't think you can guess what the endgame will be until you get past the hump. If people keep ignoring these orders and it keeps spreading, things will get so bad in the next couple weeks that getting out of the whole we dug will be good enough for now.
  2. Viruses don't work like that. If 10% of the population decides they're not going to listen to these precautions then it explodes, you take it home to your relatives and contaminate health care workers, service workers, and surfaces all around you. The person carrying your Amazon order doesn't care whether you're a Laura Ingraham fan or not. This is why we're at "Shelter in place" in some of the better-run states already - that's the last step before the police are enforcing the quarantines.
  3. Bah, you have to mentally shift ours an unknown distance because of our spectacular failure of testing. We're absolutely still uncovering cases that would have been identified a week ago in italy.
  4. We need tests so badly. That's it, that's the post.
  5. I haven't yet figured out how to safely "Groceries" but I went nuts 2 weekends ago and spent 4x my normal amount because I knew that would be my worry. I'll run out of milk in about 3-4 days and fresh stuff a few days after that, I'm hoping in another week we at least have a better handle on the severity in this region? I'll probably attempt a delivery service, but I honestly don't know.
  6. Certainly not here. We had good sized crowds at the bars on Tuesday for St. Patrick's Day (I did not go, the news did).
  7. I'll be honest, I'm high risk, so I'm terrified to even order a pizza right now, at least until there are enough tests out there that I can believe no one there is ill. Right now I know for a fact they're only able to test people who have recent travel, so there are hundreds of people at my school alone who should have been tested but won't be. So, if you want people like me to spend money on anything other than milk..."Test test test test test".
  8. Saw a good twitter thread on this, whether I believe all of it I'm not informed enough to know all the details on this. Burr and Loeffler are the ones who seem to have done it quite obviously.
  9. Senator Burr did a twitter thread attacking NPR for their reporting and saying that the briefing was more open to the public. During that thread...never once mentioned the stock sale.
  10. Well they did a pretty crappy job of doing anything like that in 2019. 2018, ok maybe pre shoulder injury. 2019? Nah.
  11. Not exactly a lot of draft picks available for the Bears right now?
  12. As it should. Blaming the Chinese does nothing, saying that these immigration restrictions are things they wanted to do a long time ago is backwards, failing to answer any questions about the actual disease response just ensures that the panic continues.
  13. Her husband is chair of the company that owns the New York Stock Exchange. They were near a deal for EBay in early February then abruptly pulled out. He has also sold large numbers of shares in the last month. https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2020/02/06/intercontinental-exchange-calls-off-possible-bid.html https://www.gurufocus.com/news/1073064/intercontinental-exchange-inc-ice-ceo-jeffrey-c-sprecher-sold-153-million-of-shares
  14. Holy flurking schnit she’s married to the chair of the NYSE. The Chair of the NYSE and his Senator Wife traded on inside briefings about the virus.
  15. So it’s probably fair to assume that we’ve got roughly similar statistics now as in the testing numbers. https://t.co/euaTv2JtIL?amp=1
  16. That only really rebuts something if you can add a similar number for the dollar to compare.
  17. So what fraction of transactions with the dollar are illegal?
  18. If they had insider info like the Senate Intelligence Chief they coulda done this a month ago.
  19. The US Dollar does have one absolutely enormous benefit. The US Government accepts the US Dollar as payment for US Tax debts.
  20. While that part is true, you also have women with higher rates of and more severe cases of asthma, so you've got multiple factors stacking on top of one another (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4572514/).
  21. How good is data connecting this to smoking? One of the other things I've seen is statistics suggesting that in this country, men also, um, are worse at washing their hands.
  22. The “vastly overstressed emergency room” reports are skyrocketing today. This will be a nightmare in the next couple days.
  23. Good point. They and people like them. They all will be.
  24. What Italians wish they could tell themselves 10 days ago.
  25. They will literally get people killed and they will be the reason that the government will have no choice in a few days but to enforce much more harsh mandatory quarantines.
