  1. FWIW, this wasn't how the Astros won last year or how the Cubs won. They had elite young stars, with some notably weak positions offset by those stars, and strong pitching.
  2. If they have done their job in this rebuilding, then filling holes wisely IS finding one or two stars at the positions we didn't manage to fill. If they have not done their job well in this rebuilding, then they will have so many holes that they won't be able to fill them in the FA (Or trade) market, the classic 2015/2016 situation.
  3. Go take a look at the chart. 3 games ago, his average velocity of 92.0 matched his average 92.0 velocity in his 2nd game of the year. His last 3 games would have fit comfortably in April and May on range and average and max and min.
  4. Yankees set the all time record for HR in a season at 266 today.
  5. Teams will also be more willing to offer them in exchange for lower dollar totals in the first few years because it can turn those first few years into more of a bargain if the player opts out of the highest dollar amount year.
  6. The notes of her therapist, statements of the others she told about the assault before he was nominated would also count as evidence. You can also count the strong evidence that he has lied about his history with alcohol and the wide knowledge of the 2nd assault with multiple witnesses as evidence. A sworn statement in the 3rd case would also count as evidence if anyone looked into it.
  7. I love how even Robertson gets included. It worked d*** well last time!
  8. Big thing to note - his velocity gain evaporated in his last few outings. His velocity peaked back in July and August but it has dropped off by more than 1 mph during the last month. Also possibly worth noting that this happened at the end of the year, in September, after 150+ innings in the big leagues. Looking at how his season has gone, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had him doing extra throwing to work on his mechanics during the middle part of the season, given that we actually saw him changing his mechanics during the season. I would also not be surprised if his arm is simply tired right now. I also would not be surprised if, here in September, they've had to lighten up on his throwing just to allow him to finish the season. Anyway, I'll grant that's speculation, but I can definitely tell you his velocity was stronger in July and August and dropped dramatically when his performance crapped out in September. That part isn't speculation.
  9. This is just jaw-dropping victim blaming: So you actually were there 36 years ago and you can assert that she explained to you the law incorrectly at the time? Because that's what you just asserted. You can't remember things you heard in the press this week, but you are certain she was unaware of what was required to charge a person with rape in Maryland.
  10. What is the point of signing a guy for this roster with a 2-3 year opt out? If 2021 is our only legit competitive season out of the next 3, and you offer a 2 year opt out you've basically wasted the money, and if you offer a 3 year opt out then you're paying what, $80 million for what the guy does in 2021? If someone's going to offer a 2 year opt out, I'll just sign the guy after 2020.
  11. After the Kopech injury I would not offer any opt outs at sooner than 4 years and if that's a deal breaker for these guys I walk away. I'd rather spend more money next year or the year after than pay one of these guys for only 2 or 3 years. Frankly, that would be more important to me than which of these 2 I would sign.
  12. Why do you think I immediately stopped talking about 2020 and started saying that it had to be 2021? Because without Kopech at the top we have a lot of talented pitchers but many of them still need time and work to turn into anything.
  13. It's totally fascinating to see how, once you get caught not remembering that "not knowing the date" was not a disqualifying issue in one case that you personally brought up...you suddenly say your memory is fine when you've proven it isn't by your own standard. And yes, here's another thing you have misremembered in your effort to smear Professor ford. It's a darn shame your memory is so faulty. You should stop spouting this mumbo jumbo.
  14. I'm somewhat worried about Giolito in this stretch, but just before this he was showing more promise. What's changed? His average velocity spent most of the season climbing and then in July and August it was over 93. These last few starts its been back down below 92. That could be something else, but I'm gonna go with end of season/150+ innings in the big leagues for the first time and dead arm as my most likely explanation.
  15. I know it's a game thread so everything is awful but I'm ok with this for now. Even if they were doing everything right, there would be some guys dramatically struggling, with the places where these guys were when they were brought up. Out of everything this year, the rash of minor league injuries worries me way more than these guys struggling after callups. That's the thing that we can't allow to become a trend.
  16. So the Marlins are up 8-1 and the White Sox are down 10-2. Tigers currently losing but that big late game Marlins lead looks nice.
  17. You said here that you can't trust why she didn't remember important details. The accuser Cosby was convicted of reported it over a year later, not until other allegations came forward, and in the initial report she couldn't place the appropriate month between January and March 16. I guess if it was after March 22 it would have made a huge difference since that's a whole season. Thank god for those 6 days or by your standard we should let that guy walk free! Furthermore, it's fascinating to see how now you have to scramble to that weak sauce "oh it was only a couple weeks not a season". It's interesting that you think you should have credibility to make that assertion after you were caught saying " If you can't name the time" you are "mumbo jumbo from a bunch of quacks", since that statement seems like it would apply pretty well to your lack of memory too. And beyond that you should be embarrassed over why you keep asking why a person wouldn't go to the police with an accusation that has long since passed the statute of limitation. But as you demonstrated, someone who can't remember something is just spouting "mumbo jumbo from a bunch of quacks".
  18. How can I trust your memory of anything you just said? You couldn't remember the testimony from the Cosby trial and asserted that the accuser could remember the exact date when in fact that was easily proven false. Your entire statement is untrustworthy and you shouldn't be believed based on the standard you set.
  19. Just use this it's not exactly likely to hit 75 pages.
