  1. He's already been talking about it in the local paper. It sure sounds like he's on the edge of calling it a career.
  2. With Cease hammering away at AA I think we can confidently state that they won't be spending big time, long term money on a starting pitcher this offseason, and it's not like he's the only one they might be thinking is a candidate for the 2020 rotation.
  3. I think Morton will either be an Astro for 1 more year or he will retire.
  4. Have to figure that they'd add a FA comparable to Santiago even if they were planning to give one of the other guys a full shot.
  5. About the only thing new I can see out of the past few days is his idea that it should be illegal to flip on someone. Bashing Sessions, demanding loyalty, praising Manafort for not cracking - he's been doing all that for months to years.
  6. Days? (I'm surprised you didn't expect this post in reply).
  7. Longoria was an excellent defender and athlete when he arrived.
  8. Every time I see the "500 million straws a day" line used I'm remembering that apparently it was a guesstimate by a 10 year old.
  9. Just remember - current Department of Justice policy says that a sitting president will not be indicted while serving in that office even though he is criminally liable for his actions as a co-conspirator in a successful commission of election fraud. If his DOJ decided to change that policy, that decision would then wind up in the hands of the Supreme Court, where he specifically nominated the people who would hear that case. The Congress is likely to confirm that person starting in about 2 weeks. Therefore, he will *NOT* pay a price for conspiring to commit election fraud, at least not while serving as President, not because he did not conspire to commit electoral fraud, but because he is the president. He is shielded from liability for his own criminal actions by the office.
  10. Maybe they really are worried about those 40-man slots?
  11. How ironic for those of us who want him to get to 160 innings that the best thing for that would have been for him to not get called up until this week. D'oh.
  12. So is 2 weeks a reasonable return for Abreu or is this one where the White Sox are likely giving a conservative estimate?
  13. JFC. California Rep. Duncan Hunter and his wife indicted today.
  14. Anyone want to see the lawyer of a man who just plead guilty and is facing jail time stating that the president of the United States committed the same crime?
  15. Hearings are scheduled for September already, they'll get this done before the election so that the losses don't panic any vulnerable senators.
  16. Bill Clinton was never indicted. The Starr report was released as a book and referred to the House of Representatives. That was not an indictment in a court of law. I believe that's similarly what would happen with any report prepared by Mueller's team. The House of Representatives would then be the first group to act on it.
  17. Honestly, with how they have conducted their investigation, mostly behind closed doors, very very few leaks, removed people the second they had anything on their record that would have made it look inappropriate, I would be very surprised if Robert Mueller decided to challenge the historical notion that a President can't be indicted. I would then be far more surprised if his 5 supreme court justices allowed that under any circumstances. I would be equally surprised if this Congress ever decided to not defend him regardless of what final reports are issued. So, you have to add - a different party controlling Congress.
  18. The former lawyer and former campaign manager of the current President of the United States both are going to jail after today.
  19. Actually you know what? I wonder if the Dodgers could have added Harper and stayed under the Luxury Tax. After all their trade deadline moves I doubt they could, they'd have had to send salary back and they couldn't do that unless they had someone else who had passed through waivers. That would mean the Dodgers were 100% just blocking their competition.
  20. If the Dodgers were doing anything other than blocking, wouldn't they have at least considered a decent offer? They probably could use him.
  21. Well at least by a-ball you filter out some of the 2nd rounders who can't even get that far. I mean, think about our A-ball team this year, if we were a better team wouldn't you part with one of those OFs for a month of Harper?
  22. It's what, Second Round? So like a guy who has less than a 50% shot at ever seeing the big leagues?
  23. Well then. One of the things people have been talking about with the Manafort case is that it's possible, since he was in on conversations that were intercepted with FISA warrants, is that the intelligence gathered information might not be admissible in court if there was no witness willing to testify to the content of those conversations, and thus they needed someone who was on the inside to reach a plea deal and testify to the content of those messages.
  24. If you put a weapon to my head today I'd guess the Phillies.
