  1. It would be interesting to go back and look through what the Astros key players from 2017 were doing in 2014.
  2. There are teams out there that could do it, the Braves and Astros come to mind as decent fits who are competitive right now and who could very well have a need this offseason for a starting pitcher with multiple years of control. Step 1 he has to dominate the last 2 months, like make people look constantly bad.
  3. Wait, why is he an Angel Fish?
  4. I spent last year saying that we were going to win the world series in 2020. I can't say that any more. The rebuild has already been pushed back a season. Rodon can't be traded now...but this offseason we might have a shot at getting the right kind of return, and if he keeps this up, by next trade deadline he should be able to.
  5. I don't think that they'll get an offer for Rodon this offseason, they might but I don't think any team will bite yet. But if he's still rolling next year at the AS break, with him only under team control through 2021, the fact that the "window has been pushed back by a year at least" as you say it is going to make moving Rodon awfully tempting. Long enough of a run of success + the White Sox's window...
  6. I don't think this was deliberate, but it's hilariously accurate.
  7. This is absolutely remarkable. When Moncada either swings at the first pitch or is ahead in the count (1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-1, 3-1) he has an OPS of 1.239. When Moncada has 2 strikes on him, other than a full count (0-2, 1-2, 2-2) he has an OPS of 0.219. Just to rond things out, .729 when he has a full count, and .667 when it's 1-1. He has a 1.081 OPS when he's ahead in the count and a .454 OPS when the pitcher is ahead.
  8. The county prosecutor who oversaw things in St. Louis including their cash bail system, and who gained fame (infamy?) for taking the Mike Brown case to a grand jury and then giving the grand jury a case that made sure the officer wouldn't be indicted, was voted out of office by a large margin last night.
  9. But the fact that that person also is in the same boat, having to work ridiculously hard and sacrifice everything just to make ends meat, while meanwhile Jeff Bezos has a worth of $150 billion, that has everything to do with the laws. You shouldn't need 50 days off unless you're him...but there's strong evidence that being able to relax and take a vacation helps worker productivity. It's literally bad for everyone to live in a world where humans can't be humans. No one should be able to work a full time job and not have health care, reasonable housing in the area, and to contribute to raising a family.
  10. The fight at the end is ok to me, I'd prefer the duel in TPM a lot more. I thought both CGI Yoda fights were a little over the top and silly looking personally. The Arena setup is ok, but there's still some WTF stuff thrown in there, "Oh I'm quite beside myself" from 3PO is an example of a cringe worthy line. Gosh it would have been nice if R2 could fly all those other times it would have helped to fly.
  11. One tweet said he slid feet first.
  12. I can't believe he'd get more than that considering he won't get more than 400 PAs this year and he missed most of last year. He might even want a 1 year deal because staying healthy and then hitting FA would be his only chance at multiple years.
  13. I already suggested the name I think fits most, AJ Pollock is a good fit in my eyes, but yeah would be nice to not have someone we sign immediately be suspended this time.
  14. Well, Engel got demoted mid-game apparently. Along with the wall segment?
  15. Can we do our homework a little better than with that one? Please?
  16. Personally I'd dislike trading A-ballers for A-ballers based on positions for the same reason you don't usually draft guys early based on a position of need. I mean, I guess if a guy is completely blocked, but they've got BHam and W-S to put guys at for playing time, especially with the year Robert had. If guys continue breaking out and blowing up, someone's still likely to struggle or get hurt at some level...and if they all get to AAA and Eloy is blocking one of them, then that guy is your trade bait for big leaguers. I'd only really do prospect for prospect with struggling guys. I'd do a prospect for prospect deal with Fulmer, change of scenery type move. If guys are succeeding, I don't want to lose them just to fill a positional hole that I might just fill in free agency 2 weeks later or the next season anyway.
  17. My guess remains AJ Pollack as a fit, not likely to play the full season, free agent, gives some time for other guys like Cordell to have a shot, would probably be a 1 or 2 year deal
  18. Um...because they were called up last year and not this year, everyone other than Anderson on your first line is actually a free agent after 2023.
  19. Pretty sure most modern lineup designs dislike that setup and say put your best overall hitter 2nd.
  20. So calling up everyone you just listed was a mistake as it cost the White Sox service time on all of them? For shame. You're right, that is a whole series of terrible moves.
  21. Either the priority is service time or it's what's best for the player. The priority this year shouldn't be service time if the priority last year was what's best for the player.
  22. Dude has a 2.32 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP since the AS break. Since he had a mid June walk-fest his ERA is 2.65. I'm totally ok with him finishing the next 5 starts in Charlotte, but if he keeps up anything like this then he should get some big league innings in September.
  23. If we're willing to keep Kopech in the minors for an extra 2 months beyond where they should be up for service time reasons and nothing else, why couldn't we keep those guys in the minors an extra 2 months? Sounds...familiar.
