Lopez vs. Sabathia 

Lets see if we can have some positives tonight 

 

All I ask for tonight:

• Reynaldo continues to use the change-up & generates a fair amount of swings & misses
• Moncada is more agressive at the plate and doesn’t K looking

Give me those two things and I’ll be more than happy.

will TA and Moncada finish above an OPS of 700?  Sigh.

Rey's slider looks good tonight, but he needs to keep it down. If he ever masters the change, he's going to be a true #1 imo. 

I like what I’m seeing out of Lopez tonight.  5 sliders & 3 change-ups.  Could use a few more swinging strikes, but not complaining at this point.

Isn't it amazing?  Truly an ugly swing in terms of mechanics. Painful to watch

The question is...is Engel on the team next year? No one at center really waiting in the wings, and Leury is always out half the season to bank on him. Maybe they give Cordell a shot. Too bad they don't have designated fielders.....

I’d sign a veteran if one is available on a short-term deal.  I’m less inclined to give playing to fringe prospects once Eloy & Kopech are up and most of our top prospects are in AA and therefore not too far away.

I don't think it matters a whole lot. They still won't be good next year. I'm not sure who's on the FA market, but I wouldn't mind adding a decent vet on 1-2 year deal for the clubhouse presence. 

I’d like to see Yoan swap positions with Sanchez on lefty shifts.

My guess remains AJ Pollack as a fit, not likely to play the full season, free agent, gives some time for other guys like Cordell to have a shot, would probably be a 1 or 2 year deal

I think this off season is where you look to add a few respected vets who've been around the block on short term deals. Just to show the kids the ropes really.
