100% accurate. Hawk is great.

Well, even though i dont like steffs personality(on this board, cuz we all know she could be different in person), im gonna have to admit shes pretty cute. Doable is true. ?
-
And this is something new?

They're "tired"? If a f***ing pennant race doesn't wake them up, they ought to take their paychecks and reimburse some of the fans' money, because we pay to see them come to play every night -- not get killed by some s***ty rookie because "they're tired". 100% completely and utterly unacceptable.

Being blind to what's happening does not make you a "true" Sox fan. This is the Sox team of April, May, and early June, and it's absolutely sickening.
-
Masochist.
-
Another thing -- why do they insist on running that Viagra ad where Raffy is roping a HR off of the fake Sox pitcher? Can't they hold off on it until the game's over?
-
Game, set, and match. f***ing disgraceful.
-
This is f***ing sad.

Looked bad at first -- upon review, they got it right.

Well Joe gets the job done, thankfully. C'mon, need this run to hopefully rattle Cy.
-
Why the hell is Joe not bunting?

"dark and stormy night in Detroit". Hmm for some reason I remember us playing Detroit in Chicago that day. Hmmm... It was in Chicago, you're right.

It's a good thing Frank brought his glove. He'll be able to protect himself in the dugout in the event of any foul balls coming his way.
-
No -- it's for our play since the ASB and how we've turned it around. Just bad timing with the Angels series I guess.

http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/ Hasn't been up long. So far, the Twins are a distant 3rd, and the Royals are edging us by a few percentage points.

Only 1 way to find out, right?

Oh my friggin God, if we don't put up at least 7 or 8 runs tonight, I'll puke. We're facing Colby Lewis, a rookie, and here are his numbers. 7.84 ERA, 52 walks in 82 2/3 IP, and a WHIP of 2.03!!!!!! That's over 2 f***ing baserunners every inning!!! WTF?! This kid has NO place on a ML team, and we better pound the s*** out of him. Go Sox!

HE IS TOTALLY BRUTAL AT 1ST. NO WAY Ya were gone when Frank played 1st a lot back in June. He did just fine over there, and he hit around .400 at the same time.

We fall behind early, seemingly don't care for several innings, then all of a sudden put a rally together at the end. This has been done SEVERAL times this season, and I hate it. It happened in Monday's Angel game (where we all of a sudden started CRUSHING the ball off of one of the better closers in the game), only to lose 10-8 after having the bases loaded and 1 out. Then, last night, they gave us some false hope, only to let the "rally" die with us still 4 down. I don't think Bmr is talking about just last night's game -- he's been saying this team lacks heart and that "killer instinct" for months now.

To get to 88 wins, we would have to play .610 ball for the rest of the season, which is a record of 25-16. Considering that the Sox have several games left against the Twins and Royals, if we were to do that, I'd have to say that yes, we'll make the playoffs. As long as MB, BC, and EL do their jobs, it should be fairly easy to win 25 more games. And I read a good point by someone. They said that in 2000, the Sox really didn't play a meaningful game from mid-June on (those were the 7 games against the Yanks and Indians), then were forced to turn it on for the post season but could not do it. Well, he then said that if the Sox are going to make the playoffs in 2003, we will be playing important games all the way down the stretch, and that we'll be better prepared for the playoff atmosphere. I thought that was a great point.

One may be the loneliest number, but Metallica's "One" is a kickass song. Korn apparently attempted to do a cover of it, but I'm sure it's sad just like Limp's cover of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)". Live, "One" is a site to behold. Pyro, explosions, great lyrics -- heaven on earth, indeed.

What exactly does "turn the corner" mean? If you take a look at his stats from last year (a year in which many people think he "turned the corner"), they are almost IDENTICAL to his numbers this year. An ERA around 4.60, and a .500 record. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those numbers mediocre at best? And like many of you pointed out, he didn't pitch that poorly in Thursday's game against the Angels (in fact, by definition, I believe he had a quality start). But, the timing of allowing the 3 runs completely took the Sox out of the game. By the time Jon settled down, we were losing 3-0, and the game was OVER. I only had the chance to listen to it on the radio, but from the moment we got down by a run, it seems like we returned to our old ways and just crawled into our hole for the next 9 innings then left town with our tail between our legs. Also, someone said that Jon is among the best #4 starters in MLB. That may be true if you take a look at his "stuff", but numbers wise, he's probably middle-of-the-pack at best, and IMO, that speaks volumes about the status of Major League pitching if a .500 guy with an ERA pushing 5 is considered acceptable.

I don't want to take much time because I need to get some sleep, but I just wanted to comment on something. Jon Garland. He is gutless, and apparently cannot win an important game when the Sox needed him to come through. Everyone's "waiting for him to breakthrough", but I personally don't see him improving at all. It seems like he'll have 1 decent game (6 IP, 3 ER or so), then a mediocre game (5 IP, 4 ER or so), then 1 really good one (7 IP, 1 or 2 ER), and that keeps his ERA around 4.50, with his W/L record constantly hovering around the .500 mark. I know he's still young, but it's time to stop making excuses for the guy. If he's got such great stuff, let's f***ing see it. What's he doing, saving it? Knowing how things go for the Sox, we'll "give up" on him, and he'll turn into a 17 game winner with an ERA in the 3's, but that's just how it's gonna have to be. Everytime you start to think this kid's got it figured out, he proves you wrong. He had a 5 game stretch (from 6/30-7/24) where he had 4 very solid games (7 IP, 2 ER in all 4 games), with a stinker (4 2/3 IP, 4 ER) tossed in. I would gladly take that. But, unfortunately, that's as good as it's gotten with Jon. He's had 24 starts now, and in 10 of them he's given up 4+ ER, and only 10 times has he allowed fewer hits than IP. That is unacceptable. The Sox needed to win last night to salvage the series against a horrible Angels team, but the Angels just outplayed us, and that's not right. The Angels are playing for nothing, while the Sox are supposedly playing for a division title. We could have cut it back down to 1 game, but instead, we head into Texas down 2. We'd better come out with our bats on fire tonight. But even if they don't, at least we've got a dependable pitcher on the hill who will give us better than 5 IP and 5 ER.
