I WISH Buehrle would "suck" as much as Nolan Ryan did. Please do not compare a 3rd year pitcher to perhaps the greatest pitcher of all-time.
-
OK, clujer, I despise MB more than anyone here but really, a reliever is supposed to have a low ERA. Starters, especially freakin aces, are too, but we all know, love and accept MBs incompetence. Except me of course... At the same time, it only takes 1 or 2 bad games for a reliever's ERA to skyrocket, and it takes them 2 months to get it back down. Koch had a horrible start of the season, but for the last month he's been solid. Starters can afford to have a few bad games because they pitch so many innings.
-
How about we all KICK YOUR ASS for not wearing it for the last 68 games?
-
You make fun of Billy, but his ERA is better than Buehrle's is, if you'd look at the numbers instead of playing favorites. Koch ERA = 4.60 Buehrle ERA after tonight's beautiful game = 4.85

What? The Cubs have to pay? Chad Krueter was the dips*** Dodger catcher who choked the guy (probably the same guy who sued and won). How are the Cubs responsible for that?
-
Koch likes to work a lot, though. And keep in mind, yesterday was an afternoon game. We'll just have to wait and see.
-
Yes, bring him back out for the 9th. He's cruising. **has a flashback to the other night when Colon was cruising and had a 4-2 lead** I felt JM made the right decision then, and I'd do the same thing tonight. Leave him in.
-
Hehehehehe, just think about it. After tonite, hell be halfway to Colon, or a third of the way to Loz. Our "ace" will be one third of the way to a guy who I honestly did not expect to make the team... A real fan would be pulling for MB to get things turned around, because that's one of the main things that must happen if we're going to go on any kind of hot streak. Even if you hate him because he's made the St Louis comments (and I agree he was WAY out of line to say something like that, let alone two times), he's still a member of your "favorite team", and by default you have to pull for the guy.

$$$. it sounds like the Marlins may need to move some salary. What kind of deal does Pierre have? He's only making $1M this season. I'll try and see if I can find out what his contract is worth.

I don't get you man...are you a Sox fan or aren't you?
-
Yeah...a good player is a good player, regardless of the league he plays in.
-
The guy IS at a new position, and he's not THAT far removed from the car accident. What was it, like 3 years ago or so? I realize that he shouldn't boot routine plays like the one he did earlier, but I think the Sox are better off with him than without him.

"Love affair"?

Nice little 2-out rally. And even though Frank K'ed in that last AB with them loaded, he got Pedro out of the game to allow this inning.
-
Nice game for Rauch, too. Munoz...ugh.

Dan Pasqua? LOL

This series has nopthing to do with it. Look how the Sox have played lately..... alot better. Since that last game in Arizona I've been watching a different team IMHO. This is what I said a few days ago and nobody seemed to agree. Or if they did, nobody said so. Slowly but surely, the Sox are righting this ship, and there's still nearly 100 games to gel completely.
-
Yes, let's continue the negativity even with our best player ever starting to look like the guy we've come to know and love. Look, Frank's been hot lately, and the reason he doesn't have more RBI is because the main 2 guys hitting in front of him for the past 2-3 weeks have been ice cold (Jimenez and Valentin). If they start getting on base for him, his RBI numbers will only go higher. He got off to a poor start with RISP, so it'll take some time to bring those numbers up to a respectable level.
-
Yeah, we haven't had many opportunites to go for the sweep at home (3 total, and we've been successful on 2 of them), so those at the game today should milk it for everything it's worth.
-
Frank's an awesome guy, and I'm extremely glad he's still wearing a Sox uniform. If the day ever comes that he departs, I'll still support him as much as I ever have, but I hope he finishes his career as a member of this organization. It would be a sweet thing to see.

Just read something funny on ESPN.com about Frank... Where Thomas once punished lefthanders, he now seems tentative against them His stats vs. lefties this season are as follows... 25 for 61 (.410 avg), 6 HR, 13 RBI, .538 OBP, .836 SLG, 1.374 OPS Yeah, he's tentative alright
-
Nah, I disagree. Over this 2-3 week span, PK has only been at 1B 1 game I think, and Sunday's game will make it 2. Like JM said, Frank's 35, and could use a rest once a week or so. I don't have a problem with that.
-
:fyou JM? He's the one who decided to put Frank at 1B to begin with. And I don't think he's going to move him back to DH anytime soon.
-
Wow. I disagree big time there. Just for kicks, I looked up the stats of some of the members of the HOF. Jim Bottomley -- 1B, mainly for the Cardinals, played from '22-'37 .310 avg (Frank -- .313) .369 OBP (Frank -- .431) .500 SLG (Frank -- .568) 219 HR (Frank -- 392) 1,422 RBI (Frank -- 1,320) 1,177 runs (Frank -- 1,201) 1.12 walks per strikeout (Frank -- 1.32) 465 doubles (Frank -- 408) 151 triples (Frank -- 11 ) 2,313 hits (Frank -- 1,963) Played about 200 more games than Frank, so I'd give Frank the advantage. Roger Connor -- 1B, mainly for the Giants from 1880-1897. .317 avg (Frank -- .313) .397 OBP (Frank -- .431) .486 SLG (Frank -- .568) 138 HR (Frank -- 392) 1,322 RBI (Frank -- 1,320) 1,620 runs (Frank -- 1,201) 2.57 walks per strikeout (Frank -- 1.32) 441 doubles (Frank -- 408) 233 triples (Frank -- 11 ) 2,467 hits (Frank -- 1,963) Close. Played longer than Frank (about 200 more games), so Frank has time to cut into the run and hit difference. Orlando Cepeda, 1B mainly for the Giants and Braves from '58-'74. .297 avg (Frank -- .313) .350 OBP (Frank -- .431) .499 SLG (Frank -- .568) 379 HR (Frank -- 392) 1,365 RBI (Frank -- 1,320) 1,131 runs (Frank -- 1,201) 0.503 walks per strikeout (Frank -- 1.32) 417 doubles (Frank -- 408) 27 triples (Frank -- 11 ) 2,351 hits (Frank -- 1,963) Frank's got him in avgerage and eye. Others are very comparable. The bottom line is that even if Frank ended his career right now, he's got VERY comparable numbers to several HOF'ers. I think he'd get in eventually (maybe not 1st ballot), but if he plays 3-5 more seasons and they are somewhat productive, he'll end up with around 500 HR, 2,500 hits, and 1,600+ RBI. That will make him a shoe-in.
