  1. So we decided to go to Winston-Salem rather than Kanny because it ended up being like half the distance. I was personally disappointed, but was outvoted by those who were driving me. We got there just as Lee was hitting his first jack. The Hogs managed to blow a five run lead in the top of the ninth and then eventually won it in the bottom of the tenth. Carlos Lee hit two dingers. By the way, is he related to the other Carlos Lee? He looks an awful lot like him, is also from Panama and also wears number 45. Very confusing. He also looks like a monster at the plate. The other catcher...that Cipriano guy...I saw in the program he was born in the 70s...isn't 27 a little old to still be middling in A ball? I was gone at the concession stand during Daigle's homer....I didn't realize he was such a stud but his number are UNREAL....he also had a double. There were a lot of home runs hit. Also, some poor defense and baserunning at times. All in all, it was fun. Pretty damn good for my first minor league game.
  2. I'm just sick of people slinging s*** at me for no f***ing reason and mods moving my threads because people start s*** with me. This board does not welcome newbies at all.
  3. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) just gotta try and ignore them for now. Sorry to say this, but MOST of the new posters are garbage, possibly bandwagoners. oh well. Let's see, two regulars slinging s*** at a newbie without admonishment from the mods, despite the posted rules yeah, this has gotta be soxtalk.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) #1 you weren't punished. The thread was closed because it was becoming a problem. #2 This isn't the place for discussion about this, either the off topic board, or PMs/emails are. Fine, I will send you a pm.
  5. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) If you have a question to the mods, keep it private. Why? I see this as a public issue. The mods have never taken the time to pm me when they've removed or moved one of my threads. This is three times now.
  6. Why was my thread removed? I kept the talk to the Sox, people started trolling my thread....why am I punished for this s***?
  7. A lot of sporttalk around town has assumed that McCarthy is some sort of automatic insurance policy for Duque should he go down to injury. I'm not so sure. I'm not convinced that one 5 1/3 start at Wrigley in which he didn't really get touched up is a good barometer...especially when in his next outing he got pretty roughed up by Texas. Admittedly, I didn't see the Texas game...but aren't some people being a little overly optimistic as to what he can do at this level? If Duque goes down again (a probable thing with his injury history) and McCarthy gets called up and maybe roughed up again...where do we go from there?
  8. if Shingo or Viz sees tick in this game, a 6 run lead might not be enough in this ballpark...
  9. just tuned in, nice to see some crooked numbers on that scoreboard
  10. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Totally unbiased? :headshake If anything, I'd be biased against the Cubs. I recognize their deficiencies. They also play in the weakest division in baseball by a country mile with one of the largest payrolls and can run away with the WC if they get a good run going. Arizona is going to do a bigtime fade and the NL Least is too balanced to provide the WC.
  11. I know it burns you guys up that my totally unbiased analysis might be spot on. Who has a better record by far in the last twenty games? Who has more key players coming back?
  12. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) If the Cubs were completely healthy, they would be a better team than the Sox. Discuss. Maybe you missed one of the words in this post. Try rereading it. A hint: starts with an S. Okay, another hint: ends with an X.
  13. Mods, what the hell? there was plenty enough Sox talk in this thread to keep it in the Sox forum. Overmoderating a little?
  14. Remember when Gammons was bemoaning that the wildcard would probably come out of the "weak" central instead of the east, where there were four solid teams? The Central is 34-28 against the East collectively. The Royals themselves are 8-8. Even discounting this statistic as anomylous, I still think an argument can be made that teams like Toronto and elderly New York aren't any better than Detroit and Cleveland. Sure, Cleveland's got the worst hitting statistics in the AL but their pitching's been extremely solid. The Tigers have injury woes galore. With Mags healthy they could finish with 83-85 wins. So Peter, who's got the worse division again?
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) When's the last time we played a team that sucked and we didn't let their one or two good hitters kill us? The answer is never. kill us? I forgot... the Sox's record is 19-37. Oh, wait....
  16. You guys are hilarious. I don't know how many times I have to keep saying I'm not a cubs fan.
  17. I'm still not sure how you guys are totally discounting a team who has suddenly compiled the 4th best record in the NL without their two frontline pitchers and their starting shortstop
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) What? I was just pointing out that they won a series against the Padres when the Padres were nowhere close to 100 percent. Because the baseball world makes it seem like the Cubs are the only team with any injuries, I find it funny that they've been in a ton of games lately where the starting pitcher they were supposed to face didn't pitch that game, and they faced weaker replacements. Doesn't change the fact that they took 3/4 from one of the better NL teams on the road, even WITH replacements. If the Sox went 6/7 on any west coast road trip against ANYONE, some of you guys would been printing WS tickets right after the trip.
  19. Interestingly, the Cubs have the wild card as of right now
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Yep, and beat the great pitches of Tim Stauffer, D. May, and Woody Williams. Padres are also a team that is battling a lot of health problems with the flu. It was a pathetic hitting performance by the Padres this weekend though. Is this the same Mariotti who said that the Sox weren't beating anyone over .500?
  21. I said about 5 pages ago that I hate the f***ing cubs. I think I've said twenty times in this thread I think it's an interesting debate
  22. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) and what are the whitesox? I think both teams, sans injury, are actually top 5. That's why it's a debate.
  23. btw, in my fantasy "nobody's injured" world they are probably a top 7 team, at the very lowest.
