  1. Ozzie's continuing love affair with Vizcaino remains baffling.
  2. guys, I think this game is gonna be a laugher when it's all said. Our bats are lighting up their pitching staff tonight. in other words, settle down.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) It's the Royals. Come on... I guess I'm just sick of reading "game over/game blown/(insert name) sucks" responses before, you know, the game is actually over or blown.
  4. You guys are being pretty brutal to pretty young kid who admittedly shouldn't be up in the majors right now because he is too green. Lay off a little, guys. A lot of pitchers have a couple of unsuccessful stints in the majors before putting it together. He'll get there. He's still a year away, that's all.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) 18! I was surprised. I thought that Cliffy had a shot at something with 5 so early in the season. He's got a long way to go. who the hell had 18????
  6. this is not only a realistic goal, it better damn well happen. three worst road teams in the AL are coming into town in the next four home series...KC (10-22), Tampa (5-28) and Oakland (10-24). The Cubs will be a tough series no matter how much they are struggling right now. But for those four home series Sox should be 9-3. Anything less than a sweep of Tampa would be disappointing, and I just can't see them losing more than three of those games. They also have six road games....three at detroit and three at oakland. A split of those games should be feasible. 12-6 puts us 6 more games over .500....30 over even to be exact, at 58-28. Let's get there, Sox!
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) 50 walks are useless.. All Ventura ever did was clog up the bases. well it didn't help him score too many more runs per season, did it?
  8. I'm not talking about defense, although Crede ain't exactly shabby. It's not like there's some chasm between the two in that regard. I think the 50 walks is significant, although I think what's more significant is that all of their other offensive statistics are extremely comparable.
  9. Sorry. Hit the wrong button. All better now.
  10. Seasonal career averages for Crede and Ventura, respectively (averages per 162 games played). FYI, Through his first 5 seasons, Ventura had about a .267 average (his career average). Interestingly, really the only difference is about 50 walks a season and 13 points of batting average (the walks translate to Ventura's higher OBP and OPS). Same number of homers per 162, and nearly identical doubles, strikeouts, hits and runs. Crede G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 162 555 72 141 29 1 23 80 34 90 1 2 .254 .304 .432 .736 Ventura G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 162 550 78 147 26 1 23 92 84 92 2 3 .267 .362 .444 .806 I think it's interesting because I feel a lot of Sox fans really laud Ventura while bashing Crede, whereas their career numbers aren't all that different.
  11. Isn't 6.5 the largest lead we've had all year? If we can somehow get it to 9 or 10 by the break I think you could bank the division. We have such an easy schedule this month....we gotta take advantage of it.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Just drop it, man. Enjoy the win. should've put my post in green
  13. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) The Umps love the Red Sox. Did you see Ortiz swing and then get it called a ball. Goddamn. I did see that. F'n ridiculous. From the ESPN recap: Game notes Doumit, a switch-hitter, batted righty against Wakefield. He leaned his elbow into a 1-1 pitch in the first inning and was hit, but home plate umpire Jerry Crawford ruled that he tried to get hit, so the pitch was ruled a strike. ... Red Sox right-hander Curt Schilling will throw a simulated game on Monday instead of batting practice. ... The Red Sox signed 15 draft picks, none of them from the first six rounds, and three undrafted players.
  14. A Pirate leaned into a Wakefield pitch and an ump had him stay put yeah, it was a knuckleball lol
  15. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. never said it wasn't...said the term is overused. but it won't be corpseball when we win
