  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) And with all of that being said, find me proof. Because Brett Tomko and Zach Greinke don't like him? Brett Tomko is a douchebag and Zach Greinke doesn't like most people (social disorder). Pierzynski, in all of my time around the park years ago, was the nicest White Sox player. On roadtrips when I sometimes go (6 since 2006 [KC twice, Pittsburgh 3 times, Cincy once]), he's usually the only one who signs an autograph for anyone. Not only that, but he interacted with the fans and had some laughs. Of course, I hear Beckham is the nicest guy anyone will ever meet, so AJ is probably #2 now. Just because he runs his mouth on the field, and on occasion to his own teammates, doesn't make him a gigantic prick who everyone hates around baseball. I happened to be in KC for Griffey's 1st games as a White Sock, and someone asked Ehren Wassermann for an autograph. His response: "yeah right." THAT is a toolbag, folks. I've never even seen Quentin sign for a damn soul, or Pierre. Greinke? I don't remember anything with him. Am I forgetting something?
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) Let's just move on. Agreed? I hope we both prefer just to talk Sox baseball. Maybe not always agree Okelly dokelly
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:21 AM) I don't even know what constant hyperbole and talk in absolutes means. Only the Sith do it.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) That's exactly what we're trying to get away from. I've had similar experiences. It's impossible to be optimistic on PHT anymore because you will get smashed instantly and called an idiot. Hell, I've avoided game threads like the plague for a LONG time now. That's a two-way street, buddy.
  5. Can we see some examples of the posts you don't want? Even posts of my own would be OK and I'm giving you the option to do it right now. I won't complain about being singled out and I would like a few concrete examples so that I am very clear on this.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) Gangs of New York and Casino are much better IMO. Yes, and I'd add: Mean Streets The Color of Money The Aviator And maybe Cape Fear, despite it being a remake
  7. I'm just gonna repeat the main aspect of my earlier post. And thanks to whoever did the moving I really hope he drags up a lot of stuff about dirty FBI agents/cops, etc. I'm very excited to see what comes of this. I thought Bulger was older than 81, though. Perhaps I never actually looked into his age or thought too much of it, but people always just assumed he was dead. Because of that, I just sort of figured that he must be like 90 or older. I assume that they charge him and the girlfriend to the full extent of the law. Even though he's an old man and probably of little harm to anyone at this point, I want this guy to know that he will never breath another free breathe. I feel like he's one of those idealized gangsters that people are sort of "glad" got away with it. I hate that mentality and I want to see that image torn down, to see this broken and sickly old murderer's face as the bars slam in front of him. Maybe the good guys do win more often than not in the end. Perhaps I'm a little more idealistic than most in regards to this, but I'm excited.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) I have no clue. redandwhite is another guy that comes to mind when it came to extreme negativity. But he would attack other posters. Especially when they accused him of being a fake White Sox fan. He was. It shone through at times, but he managed to keep it pretty well hidden. And then one day, he just exploded. It's funny, but you can actually get a feel for certain posters. Some guys you know are going to go off one day and get themselves banned. He was one of the guys I knew it would happen to. Is there a list of posters who have been banned?
  9. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) I'm squarely in the camp that believes Pixar has yet to put out a bad film (we will see about Cars 2), but based on your taste in films being generally in agreement with mine I'm surprised you disliked The Incredibles. I think it is easily the most intelligent Pixar offering, very reflexive and very aware of the pop culture it borrows from. The respectful, loving, and well-studied sendup of the kitschiest aspects of early 1960s comic book sensibility and classic James Bond motifs was brilliant in my opinion. I don't mean this as an insult, but you're a bit older than me. I'm not a big fan of comics or Bond and they certainly weren't part of my youth, so perhaps that was a built-in positive for you? My main problem with The Incredibles was that I didn't find it funny. I didn't hate it, but I didn't particularly care for it. Oh, and I forgot to mention but I finally watched Sweet Smell of Success a couple of weeks ago. I'm not certain that I've seen Tony Curtis in anything before, but I really enjoyed his character. I couldn't stand Lancaster's obviously, but he always put in a good performance (Judgment at Nuremberg and Birdman of Alcatraz being two of my favorites). Overall it was a pretty good movie, definitely worth a viewing. It was just sitting on my table for a month with Yankee Doodle Dandy waiting to be watched. I just haven't been feeling like watching movies. This is probably the longest drought of not watching movies I can remember since I started to consider myself a movie buff. But truth be told, I still watch some things on TV.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) He had a tasmanian devil avy and a sig that said something like, "Jermaine Dye will you rise from the dead and rescue my White Sox." lol. And how could I forget about jim and quickman? And what the hell happened to rangercal? I'm pretty sure quickman's still a member, right? He's one of those guys that stops in about 4 times a year (no exaggeration), posts once, and disappears.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) I'm that group too. Way overrated, it was an OK movie. But I also tend to not like Scorsese's movies much either, I think he's a decent director at best. Never understood all the love. I'm perpetuating this argument (damn you!), but I think he has fallen off for sure. The same thing has happened to one of his favorite actors/collaborators, Robert De Niro. They've both been on a precipitous decline. Pacino was on that same decline, but I heard a lot of good things about that TV movie he did about Kevorkian. Seriously, someone move this to the Films Thread!
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) Bulger terrorized Boston on a large scale. It affected businessowners, cops, politicians...this was a very significant arrest and there really should be no romanticizing about it. But do you even doubt that there will be? The movie itself will even aid in that aspect. Did you know his brother was the President of the state senate for like 15 years and then President of UMass for another 7? That's basically right out of The Public Enemy. His story has definitely been romanticized up to this point. I want them to tear that down and really make an example of him.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Ozzie would most likely end up in some gang given his "street smarts". Or maybe he'll end up selling products on the black market. Why's it have to be black?
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) That would be me (waits for Shack to accuse me once again for making everything about myself). But I'm confident on this one. And it couldn't be further from the truth. Before me there was Brandofan, Poppy Hildago, Santo Dorf. Who was the poster that would rack up, like, 50 posts a day? I totally forgot his name. He'd have easily 100K+ posts by now had he not gotten banned. SS2K5? Balta?
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) It wasn't much of a discussion... that was the problem! I know People don't care about legitimate news. It's too bad that Bulger wasn't caught because he was secretly on Dancing with the Stars since then it'd be huge news in America.
  16. The picture that Sqwert posted isn't working for me, but I'm going to go ahead and hope he didn't make this exact same joke. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Ozzie would be selling drugs in the streets of Caracas. IS.IT.RACIST?!
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Sample size You have a point. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) No one is going to out optimist Heads! He's got the reputation and the stats to back it up. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) Begs the question, who has the track re cord of being a total dick and douche..... But this ^ I'm sure I have the stats to back this one up for me.
  18. I don't mean to be a dick, but can a mod move the movie stuff to the Films thread? I know I started it mentioning my critique of the movie, but I'd really like to continue the discussion of Bulger and I fear that this will completely derail that discussion.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) This. I wasn't trying to say it was an all-time great masterpiece, but it was damn entertaining, and I watch anytime it happens to be on cable. I said it wasn't "that great", which I think is a fair description. It was entertaining, yes, but nowhere near deserving of the recognition and hype that it received.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) Are you guys serious? I thought the Departed was one of the better films I've seen in the past few years. I loved it. That's because it gave you what you wanted. And I guess it did the same for me, but I just find it overrated because of the Oscar, I suppose. I mean, I really enjoyed Rambo a few years ago when I saw that in theaters because it was exactly what I expected and more, but that doesn't make it a great movie.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) What??????? I don't want to turn this into a Films Thread argument, but yes. It was basically a remake of Internal Affairs and was pretty standard in Thriller terms of "Who are the good guys?", plus with all of the double agents and murders at the end. I dunno, it just seemed too hokey. And it was easily the worst of Scorsese's nominated movies. It was given the Oscar to make up for all of the times he was screwed over and it was a down year all around (I'd say Letters from Iwo Jima was the best and I also found Last King of Scotland to be better).
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) I thought about that, but then figured it should even itself out. You were in the top 5 for exactly one game this year, and it was a win. Answered my question before I even asked You're good. Does this mean I'm an optimist?...
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) That's the way it is for me now too. I was 2-2 this year. You were 2-1. Pretty much the same idea. Did I even appear on it? I honestly can't remember posting in the game thread at all besides like 2 or 3 pop ins.
  24. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Of course I agree, but I still have a small fear of KW ego/ROI BS allowing him another chance. Oh yes, I'm sure he'll get another shot.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) I'm listening to Cowley on the score and he basically just called Gavin Floyd stupid (said he needs a lot of help to do cross-word puzzles, if he couldn't pitch, he'd be taking orders at Windy's). His job is to cover these guys and get interviews from them, and he goes and does things like this. Who's the idiot?
