  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Tell that to Thome, who hustles just about every play. Sorry, the entire team minus Thome and Mackowiak.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) No, after seeing the replay, after it was past Castillio, Joe coasted into 1st.... It's representative of the entire team's mentality this year. They just don't care as much as they did last year, and they don't show near the amount of effort.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Why the hell is Joe not on 3rd???? Two reasons: 1.) We're probably the slowest team in baseball 2.) We don't seem to bust our asses too much
  4. Thank you, Torii Hunter. Ugh, still a little disappointed that Crede isn't on 3rd.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) The Sox should have, and I thought they were, get onto a roll after the series win over NY and the sweep of the Tigers. That was good baseball. The split with the Royals was dissapointing, and this series was a lost weekend. I should've said that they haven't played well for any extended period of time. A big reason is the semi-automatic loss (or at least guy that gives you the feeling of an automatic loss) that is Javier Vazquez.
  6. I know Thome had to hold up to make sure the ball wasn't caught, but it's still funny that we didn't score from first on a double where the outfielder fell and couldn't find the ball for a minute.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) We're just not playing good baseball. Our starting pitching underachieves at least 3 times a week, our offense has become to stationary, and our base running/defense has been bad. I'm not sure how we're still in the WC lead.....as I don't believe we're playing like a playoff baseball team. It's because a few other teams aren't playing like playoff teams.
  8. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Just not good? We've seemed lifeless for a while. It just seems like the rest of our competition has been crap for most of the time, too.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Sorry, im not understanding that concept The Sox blew a big chance to not only space themselves farther away from the Twins, but move up on the Tigers. With that said, it seems like the Sox can't do anything right, yet we havent lost any ground on the Tigers since we last played them. Sort of puts things into perspective( OTHER teams go into funks). Sox need to get it in gear in Detroit. Not much else to it. Seems like our funk has lasted since right before the ASB. We really haven't played well for a long, long time.
  10. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) According to the Twins broadcast, that's who Ozzie compared him to...and it didn't seem like a joke. Oh...well, that's even more pathetic.
  11. I can't wait for people to tell us that Vazquez didn't do that badly today. After all, he surpassed our current expectations of a run per inning for him.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) What did he say? Something like, "According to Ozzie, here comes Nick 'Ty Cobb' Punto."
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Any team with Javier Vazquez should never have a "Grinders" commercial play. As we've talked about before, if we keep mailing in games against Santana, it's going to be difficult for us to make the playoffs. At this point and time, this Twins team is superior to us. Let's hope some other teams can defeat them in the next 35 games or so. Vazquez seems to single-handedly prevent this team from going on an extended streak.
  14. I think I may boo Vazquez or Garcia the next time I'm at a game one of them starts. They really deserve it.
  15. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Javy is a loser plain and simply...his "Stuff" isn't that good either...sorry folks, but how many times does he hang an off-speed pitch? There are TONS of players in the minors who can throw a good curve ball 1/3 of the time. That isnt taking into account his inability to pychologically handle the mental side of the game. This trade was a bust and I'd rather have anyone in here than him. As far as the McCarthy haters....at least the guy did have a role in our title season last year, or did we forget the 1-hitter in Texas and the shutout (for 8) in Boston? Javy would never do that. You know, that's a good point. People routinely defend Ozzie's terrible moves and Garcia's crappy pitching this year by saying they helped us win the WS last year, but then they say that McCarthy has proven nothing and wouldn't help us despite being a driving force for our playoff push last year.
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) That's pretty much what I'm saying. I can agree with that, but let's not act like McCarthy was "decent" down the stretch last year.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) He got absolutely torched his first stint up. When he came back in September, he was decent, but he won't do it again this season for two reasons - 1 - he isn't stretched out, and 2 - he's been scouted now and he will be eaten alive in a starter's role if he's put there this season. Decent? He and Contreras put us in the playoffs last year.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Here's the question I would love to hear answered: what did McCarthy not do last season that made KW/Ozzie feel like he couldn't be a starting pitcher this season? He's not related to or a good friend of Ozzie, and his name is not Jose McCarthez.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) As someone else on this site has noted, Vazquez is the momentum killer. I've been saying he's the "skidder."
  20. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Time to get this loser out of our rotation...Texas has made a great comeback on Detroit and Santana isn't quite as dominant right now, but leave it to this clod to blow it AGAIN. How many Garland masterpieces has he followed up with trash like this? He's the anti-stopper. I swear to God he's an automatic starter of losing streaks.
  21. Seriously, the term "mental midget" perfectly encompasses Javier Vazquez. This all started with one simple error. A simple error that put the lead runner on. Not the most difficult thing to overcome. That might be our first runner thrown out at home this year.
  22. I can honestly say, I'd never expect Javy to implode after a defensive miscue. s***, it's not even the 6th inning. KW's worst trade ever.
  23. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) It isn't totally Javy's fault. Hit to 1st should have been an out. Hit to Pablo should have been a single. Javy implodes on the simplest of things. That was not surprising.
