  1. Bottom 6TH B:0 S:1 O:1 Boston Red Sox left fielder Manny Ramirez left the game due to an injured leg. Anyone watching? What happened? Also, Sal Fasano's gameday picture looks like Jeffrey Tambor.
  2. The time to savor the world title was the time between the last pitch of the WS and the first pitch of the 2006 season.
  3. Well, in order to get to the Mets, every single MLB team would have to pass on Garcia/Vazquez. I doubt they get by every last team. And to get Milledge, wouldn't he, too, have to pass through waivers?
  4. QUOTE(T R U @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) MAN I was wondering where the hell Masters went.. he was one of my favorites Didn't you say you like Orton, too? Orton and Masters? That's terrible.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Yeah, the three things I'm angry about are: - PK's lack of focus at the plate/in the field in the first 4 innings - Ozzie using Cotts when we're down 2 in the 8th - Our outfield defense continuing to have the baseball IQ of a 5 yr old. See, I like this thread because people are actually making valid points and using statistics/observations instead of just saying "these guys suck, I can't wait until we can unload Vaz/Garcia/Pods for Carl Crawford and Jason Schmidt this offseason". I do miss the days though when it seemed like there was a White Sox Winner thread 70 pct of the time. And the optimists in this thread aren't acting high-and-mighty.
  6. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) when I saw the thread title I thought Milkman made it anyways as long as we stay even with the Tigers and then beat them head to head I think we are ok yes the pitching sucks, but did anyone honestly expect to win today anyways with Johan pitching? QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) OK, I haven't read this thread yet, but I thought I'd try to lighten the mood for a second. When I saw the name of this thread and then looked at who started it, I was surprised to see it wasn't fathom or myself. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Hell, I'm not even that upset today. Everyone in the world knew that the Sox would lose today. I would have bet my life savings on the Twins today. I'm happy we're still up in the Wild Card. Unless we get more than 1 game behind in the standings, I will always be optimistic (even if I don't express it in my posts). I'm really not mad either. Funny thing is that I seem to be angry when others are calm and vice versa.
  7. After reading it, I agree completely with every last point you made. Welcome to the dark side.

  9. Don Cooper should really be held accountable for how badly our pitching has performed this year compared to last.
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) WTF happened to Cotts?!? Sheesh. Don Cooper my ass. How many pitchers from last year's staff have looked like crap this year? Every single one of them is worse this year. Every single returning pitcher is noticeably worse this year, as I've said. Just had everything fall into place last year.
  11. I just thank God for all of our relievers having fluke years at the same time.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) I dont even know what to say anymore................................................................... He's got to use Cotts sometimes. I can't really fault Ozzie this time. I'm all for trading Neal this offseason, though. If someone will pay like he's still a top of the line set-up man.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) I kinda like Cotts in this situation. I understand it's easy to give up on Cotts, but you cant. Ozzie is giving him every chance to get back on track, and with Nathan coming up, this is good time to give Cotts a semi-important inning. Oh, I certainly want him given some chances, and this is a good one considering he actually gets to start the inning (he seems to have most of his trouble with inherited runners). I just get a sinking feeling every time he comes into a game. I know we can't use Thornton and MacDougal everyday.
  14. Man, I have zero confidence in Cotts anymore.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Tell that to Thome, who hustles just about every play. Sorry, the entire team minus Thome and Mackowiak.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) No, after seeing the replay, after it was past Castillio, Joe coasted into 1st.... It's representative of the entire team's mentality this year. They just don't care as much as they did last year, and they don't show near the amount of effort.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Why the hell is Joe not on 3rd???? Two reasons: 1.) We're probably the slowest team in baseball 2.) We don't seem to bust our asses too much
  18. Thank you, Torii Hunter. Ugh, still a little disappointed that Crede isn't on 3rd.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) The Sox should have, and I thought they were, get onto a roll after the series win over NY and the sweep of the Tigers. That was good baseball. The split with the Royals was dissapointing, and this series was a lost weekend. I should've said that they haven't played well for any extended period of time. A big reason is the semi-automatic loss (or at least guy that gives you the feeling of an automatic loss) that is Javier Vazquez.
  20. I know Thome had to hold up to make sure the ball wasn't caught, but it's still funny that we didn't score from first on a double where the outfielder fell and couldn't find the ball for a minute.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) We're just not playing good baseball. Our starting pitching underachieves at least 3 times a week, our offense has become to stationary, and our base running/defense has been bad. I'm not sure how we're still in the WC lead.....as I don't believe we're playing like a playoff baseball team. It's because a few other teams aren't playing like playoff teams.
  22. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Just not good? We've seemed lifeless for a while. It just seems like the rest of our competition has been crap for most of the time, too.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Sorry, im not understanding that concept The Sox blew a big chance to not only space themselves farther away from the Twins, but move up on the Tigers. With that said, it seems like the Sox can't do anything right, yet we havent lost any ground on the Tigers since we last played them. Sort of puts things into perspective( OTHER teams go into funks). Sox need to get it in gear in Detroit. Not much else to it. Seems like our funk has lasted since right before the ASB. We really haven't played well for a long, long time.
