White Sox vs Twins 1:10 pm CSN
QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) According to the Twins broadcast, that's who Ozzie compared him to...and it didn't seem like a joke. Oh...well, that's even more pathetic.

I can't wait for people to tell us that Vazquez didn't do that badly today. After all, he surpassed our current expectations of a run per inning for him.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) What did he say? Something like, "According to Ozzie, here comes Nick 'Ty Cobb' Punto."

Wow, what a shot by Hawk.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Any team with Javier Vazquez should never have a "Grinders" commercial play. As we've talked about before, if we keep mailing in games against Santana, it's going to be difficult for us to make the playoffs. At this point and time, this Twins team is superior to us. Let's hope some other teams can defeat them in the next 35 games or so. Vazquez seems to single-handedly prevent this team from going on an extended streak.

I think I may boo Vazquez or Garcia the next time I'm at a game one of them starts. They really deserve it.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Javy is a loser plain and simply...his "Stuff" isn't that good either...sorry folks, but how many times does he hang an off-speed pitch? There are TONS of players in the minors who can throw a good curve ball 1/3 of the time. That isnt taking into account his inability to pychologically handle the mental side of the game. This trade was a bust and I'd rather have anyone in here than him. As far as the McCarthy haters....at least the guy did have a role in our title season last year, or did we forget the 1-hitter in Texas and the shutout (for 8) in Boston? Javy would never do that. You know, that's a good point. People routinely defend Ozzie's terrible moves and Garcia's crappy pitching this year by saying they helped us win the WS last year, but then they say that McCarthy has proven nothing and wouldn't help us despite being a driving force for our playoff push last year.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) That's pretty much what I'm saying. I can agree with that, but let's not act like McCarthy was "decent" down the stretch last year.

White Sox vs Twins 1:10 pm CSN
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) He got absolutely torched his first stint up. When he came back in September, he was decent, but he won't do it again this season for two reasons - 1 - he isn't stretched out, and 2 - he's been scouted now and he will be eaten alive in a starter's role if he's put there this season. Decent? He and Contreras put us in the playoffs last year.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Here's the question I would love to hear answered: what did McCarthy not do last season that made KW/Ozzie feel like he couldn't be a starting pitcher this season? He's not related to or a good friend of Ozzie, and his name is not Jose McCarthez.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) As someone else on this site has noted, Vazquez is the momentum killer. I've been saying he's the "skidder."

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Time to get this loser out of our rotation...Texas has made a great comeback on Detroit and Santana isn't quite as dominant right now, but leave it to this clod to blow it AGAIN. How many Garland masterpieces has he followed up with trash like this? He's the anti-stopper. I swear to God he's an automatic starter of losing streaks.

Seriously, the term "mental midget" perfectly encompasses Javier Vazquez. This all started with one simple error. A simple error that put the lead runner on. Not the most difficult thing to overcome. That might be our first runner thrown out at home this year.

I can honestly say, I'd never expect Javy to implode after a defensive miscue. s***, it's not even the 6th inning. KW's worst trade ever.

White Sox vs Twins 1:10 pm CSN
QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) It isn't totally Javy's fault. Hit to 1st should have been an out. Hit to Pablo should have been a single. Javy implodes on the simplest of things. That was not surprising.

And here's where the wheels fall off. Remember how the inning started?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Wake up PK! That's a terrible start to this inning. The Tigers traded for Neifi. Crap, ex-Cubs usually win the WS.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) We should trade for Eduardo Perez, and play him somewhere against tough lefties. That would require us trying something different against Santana. OH NO! The Tigers made a trade. What?
-
White Sox vs Twins 1:10 pm CSN
Three more innings, and pull him.
-
White Sox vs Twins 1:10 pm CSN
We have two hits through 2 innings against Santana. That's more than the usual negative 3 we have at this point against him.

Dodgers looking for a guy like Gload?
QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) If Ross Gload has such an upside to him why would we be trading him to a team going for the wild card whe we are doing the saem thing? It's like dumping someone rather than making the team stronger, or keeping the winning nucleus together. It doesn't make sense. Ross Gload was going to be a situational player when kept on the roster and he knew it and everyone else did too. He has done fairly well coming off the bench. I realy would have preferred to see Borchard kept as he could play all 3 OF positions and DH, PH and PR when needed plus he was a switch hitter, but the Sox chose to keep Gload and I don't see the benefit to trading him now. So you don't like that Thornton guy, eh?

Sweet, 4 more innings and pull him.

Hey, Freddy! Suck my rooster!
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Hey Freddy, the staffs new big game pitcher showed you how it's done tonight. Take notes, and quit whining about not getting a win when you give up 4 runs. I will boo you next time I see you, even if you play for us. No s***, Garland really has become a big-game pitcher. He's stopped the bleeding repeatedly this year.

Wow, what a terrible teammate.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Buehrle and Thome go see Snakes On A Plane LawnMauer: oh that's good, good good. Oh by the by there's a game going on right now and we're beating the crap out of you and the Tigers are going to win the division and we're going to take the wildcard BuehrleBrawl: Aw man if I weren't totally half-assing it this year I'd kick that guy's ass They really nailed the team's behavior this year.
