  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) I disagree, but to each his own. Either way, you saying that he was "a step from 1st base when the ball got to Konerko" is false. Exaggeration, oh well. As CC said, there's no way he gets Molina out if he doesn't do exactly what he did. EDIT: After watching the video that CC posted, Molina was about 2 to 3 steps when the ball got there. I don't care how slow Molina is, he'd have to be physically disabled to not make it to 1st if Iguchi fell on his face and then got up to throw it.
  2. Let's just say this. I don't want Thome batting in the 9th with or without a runner on base in a close (2-3 runs) game. I love having him bat at any other point, though.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) A certain cane of questionable craftsmanship might have something to do with that. PFC takes no credit for the fortunate turn of events of late...but some still believe there's a greater power at work than the team on the field.
  4. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) So what, does he have really long legs and a gigantic step or something? He was much more than a step away from the base. Unless Molina literally uses a walker (yes, he's very slow, haha), Iguchi had no choice but to throw when he did. If he waited until he hit the ground, then got to his knees and threw it, Molina would've been safe.
  5. QUOTE(Beltin @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) I do not mind the talking. I mean there are only so many things I can complain about before I become an intolerant curmudgeon. However, I do agree that the unnecessary standing (frequently occurs on those routine fly balls, too) and the constant trips to and from the seats are pretty annoying as well. At the end of the day, however, they are all helping to pay the salaries so I just try to block it out. The standing and talking kind of go hand in hand. I don't mean standing for a play on the field. I'm talking about standing up in the middle of the aisle just to talk to someone or any stupid reason. Some people stand at their seats throughout most of the game.
  6. QUOTE(Beltin @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) My favorite annoyance at games is the constant cheering of routine fly balls as if they are all on the way out of the park. Maybe I need to be tolerant of the casual fan, but pay attention to the trajectory of the ball gosh dangit! The thing I hate the most are the people (usually drunk) that never sit down, constantly talk loud, or walk up and down the aisle thirty times a game.
  7. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) I'll go with Uribe because I miss him right now. Not saying this correlates, but we've done pretty well since he's been out.
  8. When there's a knowledgable source saying that a certain player is having the great half-season defensively since 1887, you kind of have to go with that guy.

  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) Cavemen eat roast duck with mango salsa. Astronauts eat Tang. Cavemen. No contest. Hello, is this President Clinton? Good! I figured if anyone knew where to get some Tang it would be you...SHUT UP!
  11. Winning in the playoffs is all about momentum. The reason so many WC teams had won the WS is because they had a lot of momentum going into the playoffs since they had to fight through a tight race to get there. If that is what happens to us, then I'd be fine with it.
  12. Is there a way to find out how many times we've loaded the bases and scored no runs (not even with no outs, just any time we've loaded the bases and got nothing to show for it)?
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) I wonder how many votes Stephen Colbert has since he mentioned this. He said the whole site is in Hungarian, so I doubt many. Who exactly is Bud Spencer?
  14. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) I bet only uou could throw a 50 yard touchdown pass to yourself. There are many things that I, and only I, can do. And yes, that's one of them. What a glorious promo.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) That's a pretty good record Curt. No, fathom. That...is...Perfect.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Who cares about the order?? They got the 3 plays right at least, which is all that really matters IMO. Well, if the other people in this thread are telling the truth about some of these other plays that I've never seen before, then the Fisk play should be dropped. But, that's another argument all together QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) HATE HATE HATE!!!!!! That makes sense, but don't let anyone else know I told you that. Deal
  17. QUOTE(iamshack @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) If we were to average 38,000 for our remaining 24 home games, we would end up with about 2,977,000 in attendance. Don't think if this is possible though, because of comp tickets. Isn't the max around 39,000? With a close race coming up, and including SRO tickets, it may be possible.
  18. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) Back to the topic - AMAZING streak - it's awesome to even be talking about this. Let's get that 17th game sold out too, so we can have a sell out streak into next season!! THAT would be awesome. I'm sure it will. There's almost a full week between now and then.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) Oh come on. You have way too much hate going on there. Again, it's on the scoreboard for every game opening... it's RECOGNIZABLE (you said it yourself), that's why it was chosen #1. NOT because he was a RED SOX. It has nothing to do with it... except for someone who can't get off the east coast conspiracy. I really have no hate going on here. I'm entirely calm. Fisk is as recognizable as he is because he was on the Red Sox. That play is recognizable because of Fisk. The play was number 1 because it was recognizable.
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Two things. 1 - I agree that we are looking at "modern web gems" - because of the advent of TV. There have been way better, to be sure. 2 - Yes, I agree that Fisk's play was more "odd" then "spectacular" and Uribe's catch was more of the 'spectacular" variety. But the notion of it was chosen soley because he was RED SOX property is just plain ignorant. "They only chose that play because he was a RED SOX"... PLEASE. You all have way too much conspiracy theory on the brain. It's shown in our pregame every time out, for crying out loud, so someone in the WHITE SOX organization still thinks it's a good play on its own. I can see how it should be in the top 3, because it's so recognizable. But, the other two were better and the reason Fisk is number one is because he's much more famous than Iguchi and Uribe because....he played for the Red Sox.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) They are somewhat even. Miggy I think is the more talented player but at the same time he seems to have a pretty negative attitude and sometimes comes off as lazy. Also Wright has shown to be a great clubhouse guy and also has hit for more power. If I had to choose between the 2 to start a franchise I think I would probably take Miggy though given his talent and ceiling.. but right now ill take Wright. That's reasonable, and I can see your point. But, I think you do have to take into account the protection that Wright gets and the fact that Miggy plays in a bigger park (though they're both big, but I think Florida is bigger).
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) I think the Iguchi play is still a bit over-rated. He had a lot of time to make that throw and forced it kind of and part of what makes a great play is its significance in a game and that play didnt really have a huge one. Molina was a step from 1st base when the ball got to Konerko. He certainly didn't have time to do anything besides what he did. And it was the 9th inning in a save situation. It had a rather large significance to the game. And how can you say it's overrated? Nobody in the history of baseball has done it.
  23. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Lousy umpiring, I'll agree, but how 'bout if Thome gets a hit instead of meekly bouncing out? Wow, you really don't like Thome. That's not gonna make you many friends around here.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) I forget who it was, but somebody (I think for us, an infielder) actually made a decent defensive play as the kid fell, despite looking freaked out after seeing the kid jump before finishing off the play. Crede. I remember it well. He stopped dead in his tracks for a second, and I was wondering what the hell he was doing. It took a minute for them to tell us that somebody had fallen onto the net.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 07:30 AM) stop making excuses A couple months ago, anyone would've taken Miguel Cabrera over any young player in baseball. Now after enough fluffing from ESPN, Wright is better than Cabrera?
