I like our chances against stud closers than I do against mediocre ones for some reason.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) What the f*** are you talking about? Every manager in the major leagues bunts in that situation, especially in front of PK. Our team can't bunt. Ozzie has to realize that. There are about 2 guys I'd trust in that situation, and BA ain't one of 'em. I guarantee a lot of us saw him screwing that up.
-
Sometimes you just gotta wonder why Ozzie does these things. You knew BA would screw up the bunt. And the chances for PK grounding into a DP were high.
-
Alright, we just have to score a few runs.
-
Of course we're still in this game, but that seemed a little excessive to me the way he watched it. Hit him tomorrow.
-
I hate Jacque Jones. Piece of s*** with his bat flip.
-
I'm more concerned with keeping them scoreless than giving up a single to Ramirez.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Ahh unfortunately Javy can't get his 9th win of the year after pitching a great game and deserving the W. Oh well... Hold 'em just like you've been doing pen. Ha, even in a game like this, you gotta appreciate the humor in that
-
JD walks, AJ makes an out on the first pitch. AJ should just never bat with RISP. He's terrible in those situations.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) You have made your opinion quite clear. Thank you for participating in the discussion. Let's enjoy a White Sox come from behind winner now. I'm up for that.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) 3-1!!! I love this team. Whatever. You guys will all be eating crow later this year IMO. But that is just my opinion and clearly not the same as yours and 88% of soxtalk. Yeah, if you say so. I'm sure he'll stop making the mistakes he's been making for years and suddenly make us all eat crow. Face it, this was a bad move for us.

Thome K's, but Pods moved into 3rd.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) This is the most downer game thread I've ever seen for a White Sox comeback thus far. Blame that on how terrible Vazquez is.
-
Way to throw away a great chance there. God, sometimes I don't understand what they're doing.
-
THANK YOU, PK!

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Since 2000 Javier has the 4th most strikeouts of any pitcher. The other pitchers on the top 5 list? Randy Johnson Pedro Martinez Curt Schilling Roger Clemens -------------------------------- You guys are right, he SUCKS!!! Haha, yeah. That must make him spectacular. Kerry Wood had 20 K's in one game.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Good lord. Were you one of those spewing the same s*** back in August of 2004 when Contreras was giving up 9 runs to the Angels? Vazquez has always been on KW's radar. Vazquez is signed through next season and is arbitration eligble in 2008. This was not a trade made for an immediate impact. What has Chris Young done so far this year Milkman? I see Vizcaino (who negative nancies like yourself threw under the bus way too early last season) is having an even worse June then Jazquez and his numbers are sky rocketing. El Duque was already traded from the D'Backs after posting a POS 6.11 ERA, and his now posting a POS 4.89 ERA with the Mets. Javy has been dissapointed this year, but do you guys hoenstly expect him to keep pitching like this for the rest of the season? The rest of his contract? How did Contreras do in the beginning of 2005? Yes, because that's what he's done the last few years. And Contreras did fine in the beginning of 2005. He got kind of bad towards the middle of the year, though. I thought Contreras was a fine back of the rotation guy. He actually did well in the beginning of last year. And the deal was bad because we brought in a s***ty starter making a lot of money, when we could have kept a quality reliever and a cheap starter that was sure to put up a better ERA than that of Vazquez. Then we threw in a stud prospect. The only good aspect of the trade was losing Duque. Like I said, I was for the trade when it happened. But it has become abundantly clear that it was a very bad deal.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) Vasquez is going to turn it around. He needs to work on the corners more and avoid the big inning just like Garland has to. I'd give him time, he can be dominating at times. No, he won't. Ball clubs and fans have thought that for years about him, and he just won't do it. He's not a good pitcher and he never will be.
-
Uribe throws a ball away. This is another effect Vazquez has on the team. It's got to be discouraging to all the players to have to bail this guy out constantly.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) 5.20 Remember when we thought he would be a massive upgrade over El Duque? Yup...how wrong we were. I can't believe how much he reminds me of El Duque now.
-
God, what a terrible, terrible trade that was.
-
What's his ERA now?

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Again, what are the Sox paying for Vazquez? It was a no-lose proposition It's not like this guy has a losing record. I was all for the Vazquez trade when it happened. So, it's not like I'm sitting here saying that trade shouldn't have been made. But now it's painfully obvious that that trade was terrible. There is no way in hell that McCarthy would be as bad as Vazquez has been. And it isn't a "no-lose proposition." This guy can be costing us games before we know it. The offense can't always bail his ass out. Crede gfoes yard. We're within 1 again.
-
Even I know we're still in this game. Our offense is capable of coming back in this. Vazquez is just a horrible weight on this team, though.
