Sox agreed to trade for Griffey Jr.
Milkman delivers replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) If my memory served me correctly, I believe Manny cleared his waiver last year. Noone wanted to touch that humongous contract. Hopefully, Griffey will clear his waiver as well. Even if he's cleared, I doubt their owner would approve the trade this time since they've already rejected once. Griffey would look mighty fine in the White Sox uniform!!! Well, wouldn't KW just ask for less money from the Reds for the contract if he's that serious about getting him? -
Buehrle facing possible suspension, fine

If he gets suspended, can't he just appeal it until the end of the year. Then, he can just serve the suspension in September when all of the scrubs come up? -

I still haven't caught up entirely, but I thought this might be relevant. The White Sox and Yankees have a good relationship, don't they? So, perhaps NY would let Griffey slip by? -

After reading just the first post, I have this to say: FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn it, that was such a sweet ass deal. Rogowski is fringe and Young is gonna be good, but damn. DAMN DAMN DAMN! (And I don't want Burroughs) -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Most drugs have side effects. Harmful and side effects are 2 different things Milk. Steroids can have side effects, yes. If a guy ignores the symptoms of side effects and continues to use, then of course it becomes harmful. When that happens, is it really the steroid or the user that's the problem?? For adolescents and teenagers, it's harmful no matter how you use them. Both physically and psychologically. The body's just not ready for it.
-
I agree with what LMB said about getting them from a doctor or a guy behind the gym. And for someone to say that steroids aren't harmful, well, that's just a f***ing dumbass thing to say. You're an idiot if you don't think steroids are harmful, especially for younger athletes. An idiot.

If MLB can keep a postive test secret for 2 1/2 months, what's to stop them from keeping another positive test completely secret and out of the reach of the public? I have no faith in the MLB.
-
Yeah, that'll do it for this one. Here's hoping they come back in this one, but I'm definitely not in the mood for this stuff. Later, all.
-
Yikes, thinking about turning this one off...
-
Wow, they look like s***.
-
Ha, the ump said, "get the f*** out of here!"
-
OK, we looked good in the inning I saw. Therefore, we'll be scoring some runs this inning.

Just tuned in in time to see Pods catch that ball. SWEET! And I wish we were in Toronto. We suck at home recently.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) Kelly's ... on the corner of 43rd and Wallace? Garden in the back? Village ... location? I think the food selection in both is very limited, yes? Kelly's is on 44th and Wallace. Yessum. Village is on 40th (?) and Wallace. To tell you the truth, I have no idea if either one even sells food. I've never asked in the limited amount of time I've been in either.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Kelly's is the one I'm thinking of (I believe). Give us your scouting report on these places, you are a neighborhood guy. I am also under the legal age to partake in alcoholic drinks. But I suggest Kelly's or the Village way before Flapper's.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) You won't go wrong at Jimbo's, it gives you a real feel for the neighborhood and it'll be active, so the clients will appreciate it. Plus it has that "we'll just walk over to the game" vibe. Puffers has all kinds of different beers on draft, so if you're with beer geeks, that's a good spot. Damn, I can't think of the name of these places but there are 2-3 good little bars with beer gardens in the 4200 block of Wallace Street (Dan Ryan to 39th, go west to Wallace, go south). They are friendly cop/fireman bar places and one in particular has a really nice outdoor garden. But you know what, with clients, Jimbo's is probably your best bet before the game. I will probably see you in there in fact. The Village, Kelly's, Flapper's?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Welcome Bum, er, um, Blum. Yeah, if this guy ends up sucking for us, it won't be too hard to figure out a way to twist his name around to use against him.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Greenie's main point was that Palmeiro was saying that he 'couldn't" elaborate on the details, yet the rules about divulging that type of info are in place only to protect the player. Then he had some lawyer on there that said there is nothing preventing RP from standing up and saying exactly what happened ... other than Raffy himself. Ha, funny that you used that term in a discussion about banned substances. Either you stumbled upon a nice little joke, or you're pretty clever.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) LOL Phew, glad that you realized it was a joke and that I wasn't actually mad. People usually take offense to everything like that.

QUOTE(soxhawks @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) seriously what happened to that guy He's working at some athletic training facility or something like that. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) I'll say it's loose. It's also totally moronic. But hey, to each his own. :finger
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Now I totally disagree with that. How can you break a rule that doesn't exist at the time? That's just my opinion. It might not follow the exact definition of cheating, but my definition is a little more loose. From the way he said it, it sounds like he continues using them for a while.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) I wasn't trying to imply that you were saying that. I'm just pointing out that it was an entirely different era when a lot of things know today weren't known then. I'm still inclined to believe his strong wrists and hands came from him growing up having to milk cows everyday. But that's just me. I'd like to believe he didn't use them, too. But then I'd just be a hypocrite. If he was on steroids, which he seems to have been, he's a cheater in my eyes whether he knew it or not.
-
QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Who's the next big name player to test positive? Pudge won't test positive. You know why? Because he's off of steroids now. The guy lost 30 pounds in the offseason and his power numbers have, let's say, diminished. A guy would still have to be on steroids to test positive.
-
I'll take bets that he uses the excuse that he used a supplement that caused him to test positive, while never "knowingly" take steroids.
