  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Exactly. And now he's on. BTW, milkman I got your PM ... thank you, much appreciated. No problem. 1-0. Keep working the counts.
  2. No matter the result, this is a great AB by Pods.
  3. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) I still wouldn't write off the Yanks, but Randy continuing to suck certainly doesn't help their case. They still have 4 guys hitting .300 or better, which helps them win some games despite poor pitching, and Rivera and Gordon helps them get some close ones. They sure can't get anything going in stretches. By the way, I never said I think they could beat the Sox in a series, they are definitely inferior to our Sox. I wrote off the Yankees like 3 or 4 weeks ago. Here's why I did that. Assuming the Yankees lose today, which they will, they'll be 39-39. To get into the playoffs this year in the AL, a team will probably have to win about 95 games. To get to that win total, the Yankees would have to go 56-28. That's a tall order for an old team with no bullpen or starting pitching. Oh yeah, and they're old. Not gonna happen.
  4. The Yankees are now losing 10-2 in the 6th. Randy Johnson gave up 7 of the runs, all earned. I don't know why people are scared to play these guys in August. They're a bad team this year, that's all there is to it. And old players don't get better as the year goes. We'll destroy them.
  5. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I know, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but should a guy hitting .218 be hitting 3rd in the lineup? Not in my opinion. With his ridiculous home run ratio he should be batting clean up. With the way Jermaine Dye is swinging the bat over the last month I think he's a much better choice. He hits more doubles and singles and can drive in runs. Frank hasn't been a #3 hitter in a long time, IMO. He's been scuffling lately, but I'm sure he'll get it together. Future HOFers don't stay down for long. Besides, they'll never move him down in the lineup. It'd probably be seen as disrespect.
  6. I don't know why the Tigers would put Maggs at clean-up after so long, but then again the Tigers suck. Who's Gleeman? EDIT: 5-1 Tigers.
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) I saw it and there's no way the cameraman was injured at all unless he's as fragile as Juan Gonzalez. It doesn't take much to tweak a back injury. My dad has had a bad back for a few years, and it takes very little to hurt it. Now, I don't think that the cameraman was actually hurt if those stories about him smiling after it happened are true, but something like that could probably hurt his back again.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) You adapt, i have. I don't know if I understand what you're saying? I said that to some poster that was ripping on, I think, qwerty. He started mud slinging first.
  9. I admit that I've had plenty of negative comments on this site. Most of the time they're gut reactions, but that's not to say they're always wrong. Some of the negative things I've said were true and some were just stupid things that I had an urge to say. That being said, I also think I've said positive things for which I believe I don't get credit. But, I don't really care either way. I understand that I have offended, or for lack of a better term, pissed people off on this board. So, I now apologize for that. I will try to tone down my future posts and just say a generic curse instead of being so negative. I'm sorry. And just to let it be known, I did not appreciate being called out like this. If someone had a problem, which they did, I would much rather have had them PM me or make a post directly to me.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) It wasn't anything personal, it just seemed to be a good spot to start cutting. It could have been any number of people, that just happened to be where I decided. I understand. I just wanted to clarify that I had no part in this to anyone that stumbles upon this thread. EDIT: And nice job with the title. Like I said, I'm not saying they do it all the time, but they did do it in the one game I listened to them.
  11. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) even if schilling is so-so, their pitching is good enough considering how lethal that offense is. i can see garland getting pounded in Fenway. Garland has made Boston his b**** in the past. I think he may have thrown two 1-hitters against them.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) LOL, I think your alright Milkman, don't worry about it. Why thank you
  13. I started this thread? I understand my post is the first in here and somebody has to be the one who "started" this thing, but I hope this thread doesn't make me seem like more of a b****er than I'm already seen as. Please note, I have not b****ed at all in this thread.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) If you havent noticed, when you disagree with the idea of trading Uribe for Vizquel, then you automatically think that Vizquel sucks. It doesnt matter if you say that you like Vizquel, but you like uribe a little more, Vizquel sucks. Just accept it, there is no point in disputing. Last year I didnt want to trade Maggs for Andruw Jones(at the time, not now ), so obviously Andruw Jones sucks and I dont like him. YEAH OMAR VIZKEL SUCKS REAL BAD!@!!2 LOKO AT THE STATS AN D ALL THE GOLD GLOVES1!!! HEA A REAL LOSER IF YOU DONT LIEK OMAR YOU CAN SUCK A D
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) All they state on the strikeouts is, wow he took a home run cut on that swing? Come on. I listen to them all the time too, and I honestly can't remember them saying that or even alluding to it more than a couple of times this year. Last year? Yes. No offense is really good all the time. Good pitching shuts down good hitting, it always has and always will. That's why this team is built on pitching. I always watch the games on tv, but I had to listen once this year on the radio because of a blackout. From that one game, Farmer and Rooney really did talk like that. Now that's just one game, but they did sound like that then.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Just to let everyone know, if Contreras performs well enough and we overcome our terrible play in Oakland tonight, we'll be 30 games over .500. So, nobody wants to discuss this ^ at all? Seems like a better topic than arguing back and forth about offense that will just end like all the other arguments have ended...with nobody swaying the other side.
  17. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) That is my birthday and I remember coming home from dinner to watch that crap...Koch f***ed up my whole day...Koch :finger Pff, get in line. They always lose on my birthday. That's not what sucks so much about it, though. The thing is that they always lose badly on my birthday. I get a Koch-walkesque present every year.
  18. Just to let everyone know, if Contreras performs well enough and we overcome our terrible play in Oakland tonight, we'll be 30 games over .500.
  19. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) just outa curiosity, who is #1? russ adams perhaps? It's clearly Timo Perez.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) Still gotta have faith Jabroni, everytime someone has doubted this team they rise to the occasion. Like I said earlier this place scares the s*** out of me but I just have so much confidence in this team and I'll take my chances. So you're saying we should keep doubting them?
  21. Damn, I just got a flashback to Koch in Tampa on the 4th of July.
  22. Contreras' stats against Oakland make me sick. He's sucked balls recently, so this might be a big game for him. A lot of people said that McCarthy's start against the Tigers would be a big determining factor for KW in making a move, but I think this start is just as big.
  23. Wow, I just saw the cameraman on espnews. I swear he looks like a troll. It's uncanny.
  24. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) No, that would be Ben Grieve in 1998 - of the media darling A's. Magglio totally outplayed him and should have been the ROY. Oh well... Grieve's ROY stats: .288 AVG .386 OBP .458 SLG 85 BB 123 K Crosby's ROY stats: .239 AVG .319 OBP .426 SLG 58 BB 141 K And if you want to check fielding %, even though they play different positions, Grieve's was better. Bobby Crosby was a joke of a ROY.
  25. Uh oh, it looks like this is necessary again: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
