I love how guys want to counter an argument about someone looking absolutely terrible and potentially being replaced with "There's no guarantee such-and-such other person will work." No s***, that's why you TRY it. We're taking no bigger a gamble (much less of one, IMO) then leaving our star setup guy in to keep blowing games and regress as has been pointed out over and over. I say give him one last shot and if he still looks this bad... he's done.

Santos CLEARLY has a better arsenal to be a closer and Thornton is not himself while he's in this role. You don't play around with shut like this and give away games; you try something else and try to find something that works. It's clear Thornton is not adjusting to this role; get him out and where he's comfortable (not to mention what's more logical) before any more damage is done on the team, much less Matt's mentality.

A month? You have to be kidding. So if he blows 3 more saves in, say, 2 weeks... still keep his ass out there??? I really hope you just worded that incorrectly.

Fact isn't substance? Interesting. Thornton has looked terrible so far, that's all there is to it. Funny how he AND Pierre have worked together to cost us a game TWICE now. And although Ozzie didn't do his best managing, I can't honestly say I think the game is on him; I just don't see how.

Honestly, I'm perfectly optomistic about this pen; IMO way too early to worry and some of the guys are looking pretty good; the rest still haven't put in enough time to get me really worried yet (yes, including Uh-Ohman). I'm just worried about Thorton with this transition. EDIT: Oh, look at that... I suck. Game pretty much over.

IMO, realistically Ozzie had to give him another shot. But as far as I'm concerned this experiment should be over now. Give Santos a shot now.

I laugh when people start talking about how good Pierre is defensively. Anyways, it's amazing that we have a true example of "winning as a team and losing as a team." I cannot believe twice in only about a week's worth of games Pierre has dropped a ball thrown by Thornton in the 9th TWICE now.
