QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 29, 2007 -> 05:35 PM) I realize that 'Don't stop Believin' was pretty cheeseball, but when did that "Blow Cubs Blow" song become an anthem? 1984 -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) The reason they clinched was after a Friday rainout, they swept a doubleheader from the Pirates on that Saturday at Wrigley while the Astros choked and lost to the 6th place Brewers that Friday and Saturday LOL...how ironic...the Brewers helped them 2003, and are helping them again in '07! -

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) I don't want to hear Cub fans crying about curses and all that, they are lucky as hell, another division they only win because everyone else absolutely sucks and the media will continue to orgasm like they're actually doing something special, which filters down to all the casual fans who are running around like idiots right now You mean the assclowns? That's right. They aren't doing anything special, other than showing they're the tallest midget. They want something special? Win an f'ing pennant fer cryin' out loud! -

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 06:27 AM) I might be the only one but I still have some faith, I'm surprisingly comfortable in this last week of the season. The Cubs haven't beat the Marlins, in what, 2 years? Swept them this year already, and at least once last year. Meanwhile St. Louis should be a cakewalk for Mil, I can see this back in .5 GB after 3 games. Then it gets tough with SD, but the Cubs are never great in Cincy, especially when it's a must win, and you never know with San Diego, they just got swept by Col. That could happen!!! That's exactly what I've been sayin' for a week, and all I'm getting is "naaa..." -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) The Brewers had an MVP candidate (Fielder), a ROTY shoe-in (Braun), another ROTY contender (Gallardo), one of the better closers in baseball this season, a team that's going to finish the season with 225 homers, and they STILL found a way to lose the worst division in baseball. Ned Yost's decision-making has been absolutely exposed, and it sickens me (when I glance at the Journal Sentinel) to see people defend him. He's brutal and makes some moves that are worse than ANYTHING Guillen has ever done. ...all this while conveniently omitting the horrific bullpen...good job BTF! -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) Howry throws straight fastballs down the plate with no movement at 94 mph. I always get happy when he comes in, as I think the opposition will crush him. Dempster at least has a good splitter. Howry's been excellent the last four years, even better in the AL. Straight ERA: 2.74 2.47 3.17 3.38 The Cubs ENTIRE problem lies in the starting rotation (or lack thereof!). -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 01:18 AM) Am I the only one here that isn't worried one bit about the Cubs making the playoffs? Nobody should be worried about them here; the Sox will not have to face them in the playoffs. -
As a Northside fan I can tell you first hand that Dawson's best years, by far, were with the Expos. Before his knees were bad he did it all (not just HR), and often against the Cubs!

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) Carlos Zambrano in 2007 with Barrett catching him: 2-4, 7.52 ERA, 1.893 WHIP. With anyone else: 12-3, 1.97 ERA, 0.985 WHIP. Jake Peavy in 2007 with Barrett catching him: 0-4, 4.88 ERA, 1.542 WHIP. With anyone else: 10-1, 1.89 ERA, 1.00 WHIP. San Diego was playing at a .586 clip prior to the trade, .441 since. ...even worse with Barrett starting...coincidence? (as of 7/30): with Barrett: 5 - 15 with Bard: 10 - 4 -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 01:00 AM) QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Perspective- Brewers are sick at home, 8 under .500 on the road. If they falter at all at home the rest of this season, they may be in trouble. What if they start winning on the road? Umm, they'll reverse a trend and improve their road record? Not sure what you're asking/getting at...

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) The Cubs have played the last place team from the Central, before playing the last place team from the West. There is a reason Lee chose to serve his suspension now. The competition is awful. I hope Chris Young tears things up at Wrigley this weekend, the Cubs will actually be playing an above .500 team. Your wish is Chris Young's command. 2 run dinger. 2-1 AZ. -
QUOTE(lord chas @ Jul 14, 2007 -> 12:13 AM) is capuano hurt? i saw him earlier this year against the cubs and he looked good. i hope he can get it together because it looks like the cubs arent going away He left the game May 2 with an injury, and has spent time on the disabled list with a strained left groin since then.....

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 14, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Oh come on. Pinella is talking about finding wallets and Steve says that, and gets fired for it? This world has gotten too damn sensative, PC or whatever bulls*** you want to call that. Pinella wasn't talking about finding wallets. It was a metaphor - regarding their big money players & Scutaro. Lyons was insinuating that Spanish speaking folks are likely thieves. BIG difference. And learn to spell like a Sox fan if you're going to put that out there so boldly. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) I'd consider paying for radio, but not for Stern. Yep. My ol' lady has Sirius (for Howard), and I think he's actually worse than ever, now. His fan base can only dwindle, as he can't make public news, nor randomly pick up rogue listeners who happen to stumble upon his now-annoying show. Overall, I think I'd go with XM if I had to pick one...all the MLB vs a NFL + Basketball, no question. I got bored with Sirius rather quick. Although, I don't know how great the extra 40 some odd channels of XM can be.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) There is a correlation between the consumption of fire water and blatant honesty, is there not? No, there's a correlation between the consumption of fire water and saying stupid crap. The courage of your convictions is set when you're straight. That's why alcohol is often referred to as liquid courage...people have to courage to spout garbage they wouldn't normally say when level-headed.
