QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) But how do we know this is bad if no good exists? Lol, ok Socrates. you win.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:36 PM) Carlos is a good and very valuable player. Our team will be undeniably worse whenever we decide to cut him loose. His main sin is not being a good defender (though he's made huge strides in that area, he clearly just lacks the instincts of a good defender) and being paid at market value. Market value players in the NBA aren't really cost efficient. Posts like this make me wonder if I am watching the same Carlos Boozer everyone else is. In a span of one minute last night Carlos gave away 2 buckets all by himself. Butler dives out of bounds to make a steal and whips it behind his back, Boozer fumbles the ball, falls over and drops it, Miami steals it back and gets a layup. Very next play Carlos gets a rebound and foolishly tries to throw an outlet pass to Deng which is easily interecepted by Lebron, then Carlos doesnt even bother to try and get in front of Lebron and help Taj on defense as he comes in and throws down a dunk to cut the lead to 5. Carlos watched the entire play happen from half court and did nothing. And to say they will be undeniably worse is wrong, that is assuming nobody replaces him. Hell, Taj could replace him and more than make up for the lack of defense.

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:36 PM) And to the "tallest midget" thing, to what referent are you comparing. Older NBA officials? High school officiating? Im saying both NBA and NCAA have bad refereeing for the most part. Saying that the NBA is damn good compared to NCAA isnt really saying much, they are both bad

werent you bragging after the bulls game yesterday that you got a free lap dance and drinks at work? Stay at work

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:11 PM) I'm not sure there has ever been one that went public but people are kidding themselves if they think that it hasn't happened in college basketball. Oh I bet it has. Again, tallest midget. Being better than NCAA officiating doesnt make them good. The superstar calls are just ridiculous

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) Gonzo All I see is the magic red X, but he has been posting pics of the new additions to US Cellular food all day long

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) NBA officiating is actually damn good especially in comparison to the travesty that is college basketball officiating. tallest midget. Did the NCAA ever have a Tim Donaghy-esque scandal?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) The Patriots going 16-0 is a better streak than the Heat or the Lakers record of wins. It is also better than the Blackhawks. NBA officiating is abysmal. It was wretched last night. And honestly I thought the worst call of the night went against the Heat. Battier got called for a foul on Boozer during a rebound in the final minute. Replay showed absolutely nothing happened, Battier barely had his hand on Boozer and there was no pushoff at all.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Interesting Rondon didn't make it. Hopefully the Tigers start off slow again and give away some games with their defense. But with a solid starting staff--Verlander, Scherzer, Fister, Sanchez, Porcello, (Smyly in the wings)---that's tough to beat. It will be interesting to see how the extra innings in 2012 affect everyone not named Verlander in the rotation.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 10:29 AM) "star known around the world" "unknown outside of the united states" there's a lot of territory in between those poles... even if I threw out the international box office numbers for those movies before Pirates, you would still argue he was a star known around the world...what is that opinion based on? have you lived outside of the US and seen the reaction of foreign audiences to him on a press junket or movie premiere? Q rating in other countries? What's a high enough score to demarcate star from superstar, which is what he clearly became after Pirates... The original premise of the article I quoted about Gosling/Lawrence/Chastain is that he (Depp) is one of the 3 biggest movies stars in the world today, along with Will Smith and Robert Downey, Jr. Was Robert Downey, Jr., also known all around the world before Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes? Why do you keep bringing up RDJ? I didnt dispute that, I disputed Depp. Im done arguing with you, I think you and Cogerson are wrong. There is no real way to quantify it either way. well, I suppose you could go to your local applebees

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) <!--quoteo(post=2773889:date=Mar 27, 2013 -> 06:35 PM:name=KyYlE23)-->QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 06:35 PM) <!--quotec--> They just cannot get this character right on the big screen. What a travesty that film looks like. How hard would it be to give a real run at the Weapon X storyline and re-launch Wolverine properly? Instead, just more bulls*** characters in bulls*** locations and bulls*** Hollywood storylines where there's 40 years of badass stories to take from the comics. Unbelievable. Wolverines Japan saga is a pretty significant storyline in his characters history. This isnt a hollywood storyline. I totally agree about the Weapon X storyline though
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) He was known but I think the point is after Pirates he went up to a way higher level of movie star. I dont disagree with that, but he wasnt an unknown outside of the united states.
-
wait, I am wrong about his global recognition because some random blogger named Cogerson(with 689 followers) said so? His box office take doesnt necessarily prove global recognition. It definitely proved that disney made a hugely successful bunch of films, which I do not deny, but it doesnt prove that nobody knew who he was outside of the US until he became Jack Sparrow. 21 Jump Street and his small part on Nightmare on Elm street gave him plenty of recognition before he started his bromance with Burton. The guy was mr Teen Magazine for every year 21 Jump Street was on.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) I seen some of those videos, street pick up games are more intense. Dwight Howard is a great example of why coming back to soon isn't always the greatest idea and he was fully cleared by doctors... A back injury and knee injury are two very different things.

Wow, both Marvel and DC. Usually it is one or the other

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) On the roster? Josh McCown. Didnt they stash a kid on the practice squad that did decent in preseason last year? Really big kid, I think he was D2

Steve, we better not find out that Waka Flocka is a better source than flapship

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) Sorry, I've got to catch up with this thread (I should have, it just seems like there's always 10+ new pages since I last perused through it). I'm assuming that mine was a meatball-ish statement (it is, not going to argue with that) that's probably already been posted and dismissed. No, I am not calling you a meatball at all. Im just over dramatacizing your statement in fun
-
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 07:22 AM) If there is no truth to this supposition, I'm shutting him down until next season regardless of whether or not he still wants to return this season (if I'm part of the decision-making group in the front office). I JUST CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 03:01 AM) And 21 Jump Street, but how many of those films you listed played around the world? Maybe Sleepy Hollow or From Hell, but many of the other ones are considered more art/indie movies (Fear and Loathing, Ed Wood, What's Eating Gilbert Grape) with niche audiences or followers of Tim Burton as much as Depp (like The Corpse Bride voice work). Edward Scissorhands, Blow and Brasco (or even Once Upon A Time in Mexico) were successful, but not $100 million plus blockbuster films. So they have to be $100 million plus successful to make him a star known around the world? Interesting, Seems like there is only a short list of well known superstars around the world. I stand by my point, he had a long successful career that gave him a lot of notoriety around the world before he ever became Jack Sparrow

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) FWIW, PFF rated both of our new LB's in 2012 Urlacher territory last year. This isn't to say that better coaching, supporting casts, etc. can't change these things. Hard to get a good read on Williams last year when he sat the first 9 games. He was basically ushered out due to his behavior, he wasnt getting his job back

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) Thad Castle from the hilarious Blue Mountain State will play Raphael in the new TMNT movie. Noel Fisher from shameless(Mickey Milkovich) set to play Michelangelo.

I disagree about Depp not being famous worldwide. He had Edward scissorhands, fear and loathing, blow, sleepy hollow, from hell, Donnie brasco, Ed wood, Gilbert grape all under his belt before he ever put on Jack Sparrows costume.
