  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 31, 2012 -> 12:00 AM) So he already has his own guys??? Who are these guys? How does that work? Are they already in the NFL but once he gets control they'll be coming over? Alright, I'm done Night y'all
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) I guess I don't understand this logic....What exactly would be an Emery regime mean? I know he's ran a 3-4 but what does that have to do with the offense? If they get a guy who runs the offense successful why would he get rid of him? Meaning if lovie is out, emery cleans house. Nobody stays, he hires his own guys. Has nothing to do with what defense he wants. Just because a coordinator is doing well that doesn't mean you say he can stay. I know you love the bears like I do and want that OC job to be desirable, it just isn't with Lovie remaining as head coach and no promises going forward.
  3. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 11:10 PM) Well ya, I guess you can't really guarantee an upgraded OL but knowing it will be addressed would be comforting. Like I said it's hard to argue that this offense doesn't have A TON of potential behind a good O line. If Lovie walks and the offense thrives behind an upgraded OL then you set yourself up to potentially take Lovies job. No, if the offense thrives and lovie walks, emery sets up his own regime,
  4. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Because I'm promising you an upgraded OL. It's hard to argue that a Bears team with an upgraded OL wouldn't be fun to work with. You get one of the top WRs in the game, Alshon Jeffery who's shown flashes of being a really good WR, and Earl Bennett who Cutler has confidence in as your slot receiver...Then you throw in Matt Forte who's a damn good back. Come on now, the bears offer you no job security. They will be last on anyone's list right now if they keep lovie. There could be anywhere from 3 to 9 or 10 job openings in the nfl in the next week, why would you tie yourself to a coach in his walk year over a coach with a brand new contract. That promised upgraded OL? How do you promise that? Say you will go sign every top tier OL on the market? What happens if they want to sign elsewhere? You are living in fantasyland if you think any top tier OC would jump at this job. It is nothing but a trap door
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) I'm having trouble visualizing a 10-6 head coach getting axed...usually they wait for you to have a s***tier year than that and then axe you. Anyone remember the last 10-6 head coach to get fired? I honestly wouldn't mind keeping him, if you hired a very, very strong-willed OC, but I just can't see that happening. The packers fired Mike Sherman after a 10-6 season, 3 NFC titles in 9 years. Coincidentally that is what Lovie has going for him too. Norv Turner better not be anything but an OC
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) What do you mean? If Lovie is the coach they won't go to games? I thin he will be gone, but he isn't in charge of personnel, and that is why the Bears aren't in the playoffs. Iirc he was given a lot of control over personnel when he got his contract after the superbowl. To what degree I don't know, but he was definitely brought into the input circle
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 06:46 PM) 10-6. Not a bad season. Playing in the wrong league to be the 7th team via tie It is when you start 7-1 and miss the playoffs
  8. Yea, historically the Bears have gotten beat pretty bad in San Fran
  9. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) The Bears are really showing heart in this 4th quarter. Unshockingly, they look pretty good. Unshockingly? Lol ok
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) Five year extension. Rumor 7.5 per year
  11. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 10:58 AM) Since when do you measure production solely on homers? Hafner's OPS v. right-handers last year was .798. AJ's overall was .827. No way would Dunn in left be worse than the expected ~.625 OPS in ~650 plate appearances versus right-handers from Flowers and Viciedo. What's the best chance the Sox have to contend next year in your opinion? Travis Hafner played 66 games last year. Only once in the last 6 years has he played over 100 games, and only once in his career has he missed less than 20 games a season. Also keep in mind, it isnt like Cleveland was running him out at first every time he played. he was only DHed, so even doing something like swinging a bat 3-4 ABs per game shelved him almost 100 games last season. My "path to a championship" isnt clear at this point, but I do know that Hafner is a dead end that will lead the Sox into a direction in which bench players that shouldnt be playing every day are in the lineup every day, and that is not good.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) Money talks when you have MJ/Scottie, Kobe/Shaq, Kobe/Gasol on the roster. It doesn't sound as good with DWill/Johnson/Lopez This is true, but Phil doesnt have the luxury of swooping into a situation with a GOAT contender
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) I know money always talks, but the dude is what, 67 now? A multi-year, $30 million deal may be a ton of money but it would require him coaching until he's 70 and maybe never even having a team that can make a conference finals run. I have to figure the roster should be a big deal here. The wildcard here is Prokhorovs crazy desire to win. And the roster isnt terrible, it is underperforming. Maybe not conference finals worthy, but Phil has worked wonders before
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) I can't see Phil going to a place where he has a roster that can't obviously win a title this year. Money always talks for PJax. If he gets a multiyear deal with a promise to add to the current roster(who knows how that can be done), it might bait him. He knows the Lakers arent calling anytime soon
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 06:17 PM) I haven't been to TOR since 2000, but we stayed at the SkyDome hotel (radison, I think), which was pretty cool if you got the view into the ballpark. There were lots of things to do in walking distance from there. Also Niagara Falls is something like an hour away, and is worth spending a day at as well. absolutely. Quite a thing to experience in person
  16. ESPN was saying the Nets are trying hard for PJax
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 12:29 AM) You can kill someone in football and it's OK if you can still tackle or score. Rae Carruth disagrees
  18. I was very surprised to see the Braves go back to the Indian logo
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 02:44 PM) I'm going to a bachelor party there in April. I'll be sure to pass along some great couples activites that I encounter up there. lap dances with strippers doesnt count as a great couples activity just because 2 of you technically make you a couple.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) (You should add the word "Toronto" to the thread header so that anyone who has been there might see the thread and jump in) (dont you have to do that now that the thread title has already been posted)
  21. QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 27, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) If Rick Hahn shoots from the hip because it's "making people insane", he should be fired. Arent we past shooting from the hip? at this point he has set up a tripod, calibrated his gun, cleaned his gun, recalibrated his gun, gently set it on the tripod, and took aim, slightly placed his finger on the trigger, and is repeating to himself "wait for it.....wait for it...."
