  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Has anyone looked at the radar? It looks brutal. Bossard usually knows if the team has a big enough window, I will trust him on this

    QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) All you Robin Williams lovers need to go see the very dark comedy 'World's Greatest Dad'. Right after you rent "The Happening" and watch it all the way through
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) So you think it hasn't hurt us at all that Wade was out there recruiting people to Miami, Amar'e is all over LeBron to come to New York, and our star player is just doing nothing? Good call. and you are sure Rose did nothing? Just because he didnt plaster his face all over ESPN and blab on twitter 24/7 doesnt mean he wasnt making calls and recruiting
  4. Well lets run down the list of what Lindsay did. a DUI, also under the influence of Coke. A month later, a DUI, also under the influence of coke, in a stolen vehicle, reckless driving(trying to hit a girls car she didnt like). not to mention in the first DUI she lied to the cops and said she was the passenger, and then ADMITTED SHE LIED. And then she went and stole 17 grand worth of clothes from a designer store in LA. Oh, and she completely ignored all of the alcohol classes she had to take once a week. Now tell me, is she getting off easy, or is this a stiff celebrity punishment. If you or I did this, wouldnt you do a backflip if they told you all you got was 90 days?

    I still love Robin Williams in Death to Smoochy. He was great as a funny but on the edge of psychotic breakdown tv character
  6. what does it mean to cry like a zombie?
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) Not funny. I will admit, I laughed a bit. i may go to hell
  8. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) Holy s*** a fan fell from the upper deck in Texas while reaching for a foul ball WOW! all the way to the lower bowl? man that sounds awful for him and whoever was underneath
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) OFFTOPIC: Youkilis left the game with an ankle injury today. the Red Sox have redefined the term snakebitten
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Well, first of all I don't only go by numbers, especially of last guys on a roster. But a player I think sucks? I tend to rate players who start a significant amount of games in that category. Off the top of my head ... I thought Erstad really sucked the year he was with the Sox. I also hate to say I truly thought Swisher sucked. This is going by what they did for the Sox. I don't even know the numbers they put up or their numbers compared to Wise. I certainly can say I felt both truly sucked. Others? I think Linebrink and Randy Williams truly suck. I dont like Teahen but I won't say he sucks. But generally I don't care that much about last guys on a roster. Though I admit Wise did start the season as a starter. But this argument is about worth of even being on a roster. I think Wise is worthy of that; many disagree. So in your mind, the term "sucks" only applies to players who dont have an occasional sportscenter highlight. Got it
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) First pitch 8:45. PS Quentin scratched NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  12. QUOTE (rafacosta @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Ppl wasting time debating about a player who is not even on the team. Any chance of having a game today? Time? its not really a waste of time while we are in rain delay
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Sorry not trying to be an ass. I don't understand the question. I never said I was Einstein. you said Wise doesnt suck. Im asking you to look at Wise's career numbers, and try to tell me that his overall numbers do not suck. What is your definition of a player that sucks?
  14. again greg, define "sucks". Princess Dye, please define quality bench player, since you also feel this way about him. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) I disagree especially with your first sentence. And to beat Rivera with a 3 run homer the other day and make a great catch tonight and hit another bomb. Yes these are just 2 instances, arguably providing the Jays with more than Beckham say has given us all this season. Some guys belong as the last guy on the roster. This guy fits the bill as a last roster outfielder, pinch runner, late inning fielder, whatever. Some say the hatred is because Ozzie started him and led him off to start the season. well you are all smart baseball people. The hate should be all on Ozzie. I doubt a high school kid could bash a homer off Rivera and roam center like he can. This guy isn't as good a hitter as Teahen I will admit that. I am all for keeping Teahen, but not crazy having Teahen start, especially at third. Wise can draw a paycheck as he's doing and feel like he's earning it, though. I do not classify him as a bum. Bryce Harper, but you are cherry picking what shack was saying. he mentioned that athletes in the majors progressed through hs, college, minors, he didnt say a high schooler could hit Rivera or roam center like he can. Although really, Wise isnt this amazing CF you are making him out to be either, there are high schoolers out there that are probably leaps and bounds ahead of him in high school, and Wise has been in the majors for 8 years
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) Greg, every baseball player that has made it this far along the ranks of professional baseball to have played in Major League games is probably a pretty solid athlete in some sense of the word. Many are great fielders. Many are decent fastball hitters. Some have great arms. If they didn't have some pretty amazing talent, especially when compared to you, or me or Kyle, they would have never progressed as far along in high school and/or college ball, and then into professional baseball as they have. However, simply because certain guys may have some pretty amazing athletic abilities does not in any way qualify them, based on that alone, to be one of the best 750 or so best baseball players in the world. Yes, DeWayne is fast and can run down a fly ball very well. But that doesn't mean he should hold one of the 14 non-pitching roster spots on a Major League baseball team! I could probably go down to the local high school and hold tryouts and find quite a few guys that run down fly balls awfully well. But unless you can hit (or at least get on base) at some minimal threshold (usually at least 32-33% of the time), you simply are not going to occupy one of these roster spots for long. We have nothing personal against DeWayne, and in fact, he will always hold a special place in many of our hearts. But he simply is not a good major league hitter, and thus, will not experience a long career in the major leagues, despite your insistence that he deserves to. Hey!!!!
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) OK. Well then he should feel special because there's something about him or his game that has made the Blue Jays at this time think he's a valuable sub. Obviously I'm not the only person thinks he's worthy of wearing a big league uniform. He's wearing one tonight. I never said he should play every day. But to tell me he flat out sucks is just wrong. He is capable of playing a role on a big league team and earning the minimum salary. define "sucks" for me. I want to hear your definition
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) As far as being a Key reserve. He can ... Run. Field. Run. Field. And has a knack of getting some clutch hits. Should he be on a roster? Yes. Should he play a ton? Probably not. Should he play some? Yes. I highly doubt we would even be having this discussion with you if Wise didnt make that catch.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) I've written on here I have no problem with Teahen playing 2 times a week or being a key reserve. I don't deny he has a spot in the big leagues. As a regular? And a 3rd baseman? No. And that line above is just bulls***. Wise has a job now and should have one. You think he can't help a big league baseball team on a limited basis? His numbers say no.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Uh the uniform he is wearing begs to differ. He is playing ... and excelling tonight in the big leagues. He is a quality bench guy. How can you not see that? There is value in his speed and glove and occasional pop. He had some big hits for the white sox as well as THE CATCH. I like Wise. We KNOW How you can see that he is a quality bench guy while completely ripping on Mark Teahan(and I am not a big fan of Teahan at this point) just amazes me. You know a guy who had speed and occasional pop? Jerry Owens. Maybe we should extol the virtues of the one time he hit a homerun and talk about him every time his name shows up in the paper. That would be fun QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) Some of you act like praising him for the catch is a bad thing. It was a great great moment in Sox history. WTF. No greg, you act like the catch he made absolves him from being a fringe baseball player and makes his lifetime stats ignorable. The fact of the matter is that there are many players in the majors and the minors that could of made that catch, it just happened that Wise was there to do it. I thank him for it, and so does Buehrle, but it doesnt make him a good bench player because he had one good moment moment.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) Honestly, Wheezy's numbers suggest a move to the bullpen more then a spot on the bench. Did you know that Wise's career best batting average and OBP was with the White Sox at .236 and .277? Thats not hating, thats just what it is. The guy isnt a good reserve, he isnt a quality player, he is just Dewayne Wise.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) He cost Mariana Rivera a blown save this year with a 3 run bomb. Rivera has blown 2 saves total. Do you watch him like tonight? He glides after the f***ing ball. He's a quality reserve. He just is. His numbers suggest otherwise. They just do. again, you fail to notice that the game of baseball isnt about one single moment, rather about an entire 162 game season comprised of many moments by many players. Mariano Rivera would eat him for lunch if he cared to.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) Then why wasn't all the hate directed to the manager? People are smart. They should know. The guy can play baseball. He's a good reserve. aside from the 4 or 5 good plays you always point out, what about the rest of his career? The sun shines on even a dogs ass sometimes. And again, you always say that people hate him(and it is insane) where the reality is that people point out to you that for his career he has been a .217 hitter with a .256 OBP. Your definition of quality has always been sketchy though
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) There is no overrating that set of tools. He literally might be the most physically gifted player in all of baseball. Too bad his head is in a whole other place. yes there is. The head is part of that package of tools, and it doesnt work right.
  24. LMAO, Lindsey Lohan to serve 90 days in jail for violating probation. What does that equate to in LA, 13 minutes and 10 seconds?
  25. lol, now Bucher says Wade/Bosh are CLEARLY a package deal to CHI or MIA. MAKE UP YER MIND SON!
