QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Disagree Fine, you dont have to agree. I see Nix with 412 career AB hitting .200/.291/.347 and Lillibridge with 200 career AB hitting .185/.264/.281. Nothing in either of those slash lines says that one is so much better that you have to keep him over the opposite player. Lillibridge is cheaper and more versatile. Sorry Jayson, see ya
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Because Nix is better than Lillibridge and, from what I've heard, Viciedo isn't exactly Brooks Robinson at 3B. Lillibridge is a better defender than Nix at multiple positions, and their bats equal out in the suck department. Nix had opportunities, and did nothing with them.

If you were the Twins, what would you trade for Lee?
Kyyle23 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
where did you find that delusional quote? doesnt sound like much of a twins fan to be wanting to get rid of mauer so bad -
Prince would be a huge get for KW and for this season, but it is really the anti-move for KW. Under contract for only one more year, AND a Boras client. I just cannot see KW wanting to part with the prospects necessary for such a player only for a year and a half rental edit: is his contract only through this year, or next year too?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) What's it like to be Randy Williams? I assume every day he thinks he's going to get people out and become good and reality hits him in the face every time he takes the mound. At least he makes a zillion dollars and probably has had the best looking women all his life. Or he makes 400K

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) That's a copout. I assume that this means that you rate Luol Deng as Pippen-like? I wouldnt say Deng has a similar skill-set and set of intangibles like Pippen. As far as im concerned, the only thing they really have in common is that they play basketball in the NBA

I have heard from a source that Randy Williams is still on the team because he makes a mean guacamole dip

This win streak...how much credit goes to Ozzie?
Kyyle23 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) The consensus is that Ozzie isn't any different now than he was when the team was losing. He still can't make a good lineup and he still likes Randy Williams too much. So in essence, Ozzie made little, if any difference. Williams hasnt pitched since 6/11, I think Ozzie knows that Williams is not to be trusted. The problem is that when Thornton has no rest, he has to go to a lefty sometimes and Williams is all he has. -

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) I get that point, I really do. I understand the post game party, the day after party with friends. Well if people were tossing him beers, what choice did he have but to drink them all? That is kind of cool for the fans, "hey kids toss a beer to the player and watch him drink it! Hee hee, shake it up first." I guess most of the 21 year olds here drink every beer tossed to them and can't understand saying no. It's done and over. I understand the real world application you are trying to put on this, but yeah, a good portion of 21 year olds will drink until the sun comes up if they get the chance. He didnt do anything crazy and illegal, he got drunk in front of all of his fans like most athletes during a championship celebration, that is all. -
Yeah, Rey was a lot smaller when he was in WCW. So was Billy Kidman, but when he got to WWE, he roided up and he wasnt that highflier anymore.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) So I flipped past TCM, and I caught part of a silent movie that looked interesting (I know, my life rocks). I've always had an interest in Russian history, and lo and behold, this is The Battleship Potemkin (1925). Learned about Eisenstein in one of my classes. Apparently he did something right if I'm committing to watching an 85 year old silent film. I'll go back to being a nerd now. Wait, you stopped being a nerd momentarily?

I like watching Bourne fly off the ropes, but I just dont know if he will ever get past the "little underdog/train that could" persona to be anything in the WWE. He needs a heel turn or something to make him look less like the boyscout he comes off as.

8 games past the 60 game mark, and the Sox look like a different team than the one we saw in April, May, and a little bit of June. Where do you stand?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) This is starting to look like the team that just needs one more offensive piece to get back in the race again. I'm amazed that we're back in this position, but the NL will do that to you. The positive spin to this is that the Sox started this little streak off by taking 2 of 3 from the Tigers
-
undoubtedly the new banner has contributed to the momentum the Sox have right now.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 12:46 AM) Got back from a concert and was greeted by a Sox win. Good deal. Did you enjoy the Jonas brothers?
-
you can't say enough about Floyd, this is three straight starts that he has been very stingy and his pitch execution has been superb.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) And our hitting and bullpen is still mediocre. So there's no reason to think that once we start playing good teams again that we'll keep playing over .500 ball. The hitting has been much better than it was earlier in the year, and combined with the pitching the results have also been much better. The Sox played the Tigers pretty tough, and that is encouraging because the Tigers have been pretty good this year so far QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 08:00 AM) It's amazing how Ozzie becomes a genius the minute we start beating teams, we should be beating. who declared Ozzie a genius?
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) I think he's more pissed off this thread was started. I would much rather have the younger Nix and like another poster said.. that ain't saying much at all. Iwamura is 31 and Nix is 28, its not like Iwamura is in his late 30s and is in the twilight of his career. We have seen what Iwamura is capable of, and while he is having a bad year in Pittsburgh, he is also coming off of a season ending knee injury and he may not be quite right as of yet. Replacing the 25th guy on the bench shouldnt be such a big deal, but if I were to pick Nix or Iwamura it would be Iwamura in a second. Nix has yet to show me anything when he has been given a shot.
-
Anything to get Nix to go away.

The Sox now have as many wins vs the Pirates as the Cubs do, lol
