Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) There are also cases where teams think a guy would perform particularly well in their ballpark or working with their pitching coach, or that he'd be a particularly good match for the other guys on their staff. yeah I agree with that. Washington doesnt have a really homer friendly park, and Edwin Jackson is prone to the longball. That staff would bring the heat, thats for sure(provided Strasburg isnt really hurt)

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 03:20 AM) why the hell do the Nationals want Edwin Jackson so bad? The dude has had one decent year and has been garbage the rest of the time.. I think it is a classic case of people judging his stuff over his results. The guy still can get it up there, and he threw a (imperfect) no hitter this year. There is always a team out there that thinks they can catch lightning in a bottle

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) Or how about your 23-year old left fielder who might be important to the future of your club? I looked at their lineup and saw their averages and RBIs, and my god is it sad. 2010 White Sox April-May sad.

it is really crazy that Wakamatsu is batting Lopez cleanup with his .236/.268/.334 line. at this point you might as well say f*** it and put Ichiro there and give him as many opportunities possible to drive in runs

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) I tell you what, if you're trying to market the Titans in East Tennessee, this is probably as good of a way to do it as I can think of. that is absolutely hilarious. Lane Kiffin is just a moron, wherever he goes these things happen

QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) Entertaining Nic Cage movies (that I've seen) since Raising Arizona: Kick-Ass, The Weather Man, Lord of War, National Treasure, Matchstick Men, Adaptation, The Family Man, GONE IN 60 SECONDS, FACE/OFF, CON AIR, The Rock, Leaving Las Vegas Brilliant movies that are deserving of Oscars? Probably not. Entertaining (some more than others) and not a complete waste of time? Most definitely. If you didn't enjoy Con Air, Face/Off or Gone In 60 Seconds (or Kick-Ass, for that matter), then I'm convinced you don't know what a fun movie is. That being said, I don't know why anyone would ever want to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Nic Cage can be an awesome actor in a certain genre of film, but that is most certainly not included. I havent seen Kick Ass and I want to, but Con Air, Face off, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Rock, I liked those movies in high school I watch them now and I wonder wtf I was thinking, they are just so damn corny and cliche. And admittedly I am pretty easy on most movies, but they are all but unwatchable to me now. I include National Treasure in that sentence too, but I wasnt in HS when it came out. He just plays the same corny one liner character in all of those movies. Family man was OK, I wasnt a fan of the Weather man, never bothered to see Lord of War, Adaptation bored me, Leaving Las Vegas was a good movie, Ghost Rider was BRUTAL, I already said I really liked Matchstick Man, although Sam Rockwell played a big part in that. I just dont like what he does anymore, cash grab corny flicks.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) $6.5 million next year for him? No thank you. He keeps getting worse and worse and is now a 4th OF for the Cubs. Thank god we had Jermaine Dye in RF & Takatsu has already played for us, or the Sox would be stuck with that awful contract. Jermaine Dye really had nothing to do with it, Fukudome said "Nope, I would rather play for the Cubs"

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) He traded closer Huston Street and Carlos Gonzalez (who was, at the time, a 22 year old prospect who had 300 major league at bats) for Holliday. and flipped Holliday(who was in the last year of his deal) for 3 pretty good prospects at the trade deadline. Gonzalez had to go for Holliday, they werent getting him just for Street. I didnt say he doesnt do it, but he normally holds on to his prospects and develops them and trades them. There is really no reason at this point for him to trade away Carter, the kid is absolutely raking in the minors right now

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) Really? I feel like Beane has done plenty of trading of prospects...but he mainly does that when he thinks he has a shot at a playoff run. When I think of Beane I think of him signing reclamation projects and 1 year deals with bigtime players like Holliday, or developing pitching to flip them for more prospects so he can repeat the cycle. I cant think of him really dealing prospects a lot.
