    wow, your sig pic presents some interesting social questions.  Look how far A-row is standing from his best friends on the team.

    I thought that too, but if you look at the pic all of the tall guys are pretty much in back and the short guys are in front. The only difference is Dye in front, but he was the MVP.

    I have mixed feelings about this event.    On the one hand, it's awesome that Chicago gets the event.  With that many stages over 3 days, there are bound to be a lot of acts worth the time.  We had a blast at last year's.

    On the other hand, now it's become a huge event and you'll get the 'event' crowd there.  Also, now they need to sell a lot of tix, so look for some really, mainstream acts to be on the bill.  I say the Pumpkins and Dave Mathews  :puke  each headline one night.

    http://www.suntimes.com/output/derogatis/c...tr-lolla14.html

    LOL, its been a big event pretty much from the start. The difference now is the acts that they use to draw the fans. In the beginning, it was up and comers. Now it is all about the money makers, the DMBs and the Smashing Pumpkins and anyone who can fill up a venue. Thats pretty much why Perry Ferrell abandoned the project in the late 90s.

    A 3 day Lollapalooza is pretty awesome though, I know I would make an effort to go to one night.

  3. Ill tell you this as a child who had step parents and as the father of a Stepchild:

    There is no way in hell I would do that to my wife's kid. My kid, well that might be a different story(although the kid in the video seems to be a very easily scared kid). My brother, oh hell yes. But not my step kid. No way jose. Too many "Look what you did to my kid" scenarios that I have personally had to deal with growing up to risk that proposition.

    But it was funny.

  4. These posts lately are just hilarious. This is just the last week:

    -The Bulls did the right thing in drafting Kirk Hinrich instead of LeBron James because Kirk Hinrich plays better defense(as if the Bulls had a shot at drafting him anyways....)

    -The Bears should just DROP Rex Grossman or he should retire because Jerry Angelo has already said that Orton is the starting QB(although the quote said "Rex Grossman is the starter going into training camp)

    -Donovan McNabb is clearly the most over-rated player in the league, and because of this the Bears should take a chance on TO because the whole thing that happened in Philly was overblown.

    Did I miss any good ones?

  5. Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Media, etc.

    And SIU isnt on that list? One of the best broadcast journalism programs around buddy. If those are your schools, you should definitely make sure that your major is a top priority in the school you choose.

    ps. are you trying to isolate yourself when you get to college? Jeez, I dont think I have ever seen that many "far far away" locations on a list of prospective colleges .

  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 01:06 PM)
    I'm not sure it'd be stupid to give him a HC job. His record is insanely good as a HC. If I had a Monte Kiffin or that tytpe of strong DC I'd let him be my HC. I think the concern will be what Martz does with slower receivers like Detroit has opposed to the great route running burners he had. I don't think Mike Williams will fit in better than Scotty Vines. I don't worry about the QB spot though. Nobody wanted Kurt Warner or Marc Bulger and they became stars under Martz. I think if Fitzpatrick stayed with Martz he would have done something. I wouldn't be shocked if your 07 starting QB in Detroit is taken late in this years draft

    They probably will draft a QB in the first round

    LOL, that would be the icing on the cake.

    2002 draft - QB

    2003 draft - WR

    2004 draft - WR

    2005 draft - WR

    2006 draft - QB

    They have taken the mantle of "draft ineptness" away from the Bears, and they ran and hid with it.

  7. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:45 AM)
    Kyyle that isn't exactly true.  The coach before Merfield was Jim Crews who coached them to some of their best years and had them in the NCAA Tournament as recently as 1999 when they lost to Kansas.  It is true that the program's decline began at the end of Coach Crews tenure, but it has continued on its downward spiral.

    The athletics landscape has definitely changed at the school.  And there will need to be a higher level of commitment from the administration, there is no doubt.  But a major reason that revenue is down is the basketball team.  Attendance has been at or near an all-time low the past 5 years.  From what I understand, the actual attendance is currently far below what they are announcing.

    There were a couple of threads last year discussing the possibilty of Evansville dropping to DII. Apparantly their board is in favor of it, athletic dept is not

    This is the Will Ferrell I enjoy. Absurdist, Very Smart, and portraying Overbearing characters.

    Plus, Da Ali G as a French Driver = Comedy Gold!

    http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/tallade...ghts/index.html

    Oh yeah, i saw the trailer for this a month ago and knew I would like it. I still laugh my ass off at Anchorman, even though it is probably the most quoted movie in history now.

    Come on, Ali G and Will Ferrell sharing a screen? Comedy Platinum, no, Comedy Diamond. Im so looking forward to this. And Steve Carell better have a part.

  9. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:59 AM)
    I really feel sorry for Mike Davis. There is no question he is a good man and he really makes a connection with his players. I just think he was thrust into a situation he was not ready for. I would imagine the past few years have been hell on him. IU fans right now are worse than they have ever been and it is getting quite personal. I can't see any way he survives this season and remains at IU. But I wish the guy well. I do hope he gets another job somewhere else at some point and has success.

    Davis: "I didn't quit"

    Unfortunately he is in a job where results are the be-all end-all. I feel bad for him to an extent, but hasnt he had some problems with recruits de-committing and players transferring, not to mention an up and down record?

  10. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:37 AM)
    For the record, it sickens me that there is talk of 5 Valley teams possibly getting into the NCAA Tournament and Evansville is not even in the same stratosphere as those teams.

    It's sad to see a very strong and historied program so far down.

    I think Coach Merfield has found that basketball in Indiana is not like Hampton.  Evansville is a very difficult place to win at as a coach, but it has been proven it can be done.

    From what I read on valleytalk.net (missouri valley conf messageboard) Evansvills has been suffering from lack of funds in the athletic dept for a long time. Plus, the coach who preceded Merfield was way out of his league, and recruiting DII and D111 talent, which pretty much set them back another 5 years. The great thing about the valley right now is the resurgence of SIU and CU, and even MSU 7 years ago has been the catalyst for other teams to get better. UNI is a damn fine team, and they were nothing when Bruce Weber was coaching the Salukis 3 years ago. WSU has not been in the dance for 19 years now, but anyone on valleytalk with a brain knows that they were their own worst enemy for the past 3 years, they should have made the tourney every year and every year they would have a breakdown in the middle of the year.

    Teams like Illinois St, Indiana St, Evansville, and Bradley are on the down cycle right now, which is unfortunate, but it happens. Before Bruce hit the scene, the Salukis were a joke run by Rich Herrin. I have a feeling we will be hearing from the lesser teams in the next couple years or so, Indiana St just took away SIU's longest home court winning streak last week.

    Personally I am just excited that the MVC is starting to seriously turn heads.

    Murton hit .321 in 140 at-bats in his first major-league season to earn a shot at being the regular left fielder. Now he's ready to show he deserves it.

    "You couldn't ask for anything more," Murton said. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity and thankful to the organization, the staff and my teammates for what they did last year to give me a head start and a chance to have the success I had, so this year I'm comfortable."

    Baker played Murton against left-handers early and he struggled a bit against right-handers, hitting only .261.

    "I'll probably still protect him against extreme righties, but this guy has shown the ability to hit tough pitchers too," Baker said. "I like his approach. Anybody that hits the ball to the middle-opposite field is going to hit. If he's hitting balls to right field, that means he has power."

    Baker said last month the No. 2 hole behind Juan Pierre probably will go to Todd Walker … "if [Walker] is playing." But Walker remains trade bait despite his solid left-handed bat. Neifi Perez is a first-pitch hitter who grounds into many double plays. Baker said he believes Cedeno potentially is a No. 2 hitter.

    "Right now he's a young kid, and that's probably the smartest hitting position in the lineup," Baker said.

    The Cubs lacked a fiery presence in the clubhouse last year, and Baker suggested veteran outfielder Marquis Grissom could assume the role Eric Karros played in '03.

    "That's one thing lacking on most teams," Baker said. "That's something really lacking everywhere. How many people are willing to take a leadership role?"

    Grissom signed a minor-league deal and still has to make the team. All-Star first baseman Derrek Lee remains the team leader but isn't very vocal.

    Neifi Perez and Marquis Grissom, please bring your gloves. Matt Murton and Ronny Cedeno, you might not need yours for a while. LOL, Baker is about to make a minor league contract non-roster invitee his starting left fielder and clubhouse leader.

  12. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 02:49 AM)
    I can't see five Valley teams getting in.  There are too many games left plus the tournament.  At least one of those teams will weed themselves out.

    The way I see it right now, Missouri State has to make its hay right now if they want a shot, and they pretty much have to win the tournament which is no easy feat, but could be done. If Mo. St wins the tournament, I see Creighton, WSU or SIU getting a NIT bid(which I dont want to happen). I think 5 is a great goal to shoot for, but you cant jump from 3 in the tourney to 5 in one year without some serious resume' builders, and I wonder if all 5 teams would meet the criteria that the committee desires. RPI is a big part of it, but almost equal is notoriety and conference notoriety.

    That being said, Go Valley and more importantly, GO SIU! :D

  13. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 07:15 PM)
    He didn't play much this year w/ the Broncos.

    there was a reason for that. There was also a reason he was cut from the Patriots at the beginning of last year. If the Broncos felt they could bolster their WR depth by playing him more, than they would have.
