Spring Training too long
QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) I hate the tease. I keep looking at the calendar and seeing Opening Day. That is still a long way off. Spring Training makes it seem even longer to me. I could ignore the baseball news when it is all rumour and financial stuff, but this is actual leather and wood. I agree, but Comcast has made it much easier on us by showing 18 spring training games. Back before they aired most of the ST games, March was like pulling teeth for me. Now, not so bad.

Celebrity touchups
QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) My favorite is the one where half of Nicole Richie mysteriously disappears. Her and Jamie Lynn Seigler from the Sopranos. Nicole Richie goes from chubby legs to anorexic, and Jamie Lynn goes from just had a baby to smokin hot.

Drew Brees
I think Brees is a huge risk at this point. He had a torn labrum, and it was in late January. At best, he will only be fully recovering around pre-season, and the Bears dont need that headache right now. Look at how a torn labrum changed Chad Pennington, the guy isnt even a shadow of his former self.

Intelligent design dead?
QUOTE(minors @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:04 PM) Well I consider my uncle being suddendly cured from terminal caner when 3 weeks earlier when his wife was told to make him confortable he will be dead in 2-4 weeks. Even the doctor from UM said it was a miracle beyond science. Also a friend who was in a terrible car crash in which she was drug 91 feet, half of her face was torn off and failed a brain test what ever it's called and the doctor told her mother to pull the plug but the mother prayed about it then misterously the next day the mother went to touch her and she pushed her hand off her the doctor performed another test and she passed again the doctor said science had no answer for this. Granted she still does have a long recovery. That is what I mean I should have stated it better You still havent really stated anything. You telling us these things doesnt prove anything. I mean no disrespect, but what you are telling us doesnt disprove evolution.

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) The first touchup is pretty rough . Yeah, Daryl Hannahs legs went from Stacy Keibler to Roy Munsons landlady in the movie "Kingpin"

Intelligent design dead?
QUOTE(minors @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) So all the bible and all of history is all made up? All of the modern day miracles are all lies? Jesus was nothing but a lie? Where in this discussion did anyone ever say that the bible, history, and Jesus were all made up and lies? What modern day miracles do you refer to?

ESPN NBA trade machine
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) I traded Tom Thomas for Kevin Garnett, Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, Carter, T-Mac, and other big name starts with mega contracts. I had to package a couple other guys (Basden, Allen) to make it work, but I can't believe how useful he was in this. I cant figure out of you realize that this trade generator is based solely on money. You seem amazed about the value of Tim Thomas, but the name doesnt matter, its all about how much money he makes.

ESPN NBA trade machine
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) Man. I didn't think Tim Thomas would be this valueable. I traded him to Cleveland for LeBron James, Zydrunus Ilguaskus, and Mike Wilks. its the money he is being paid, not how good he is.

Official College Basketball Thread
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) He gets the teams that make the tourney right, but his seeding is usually pretty iffy. Hey, I will be happy if they stay in. I dont mind a lower seed, I think the Salukis are capable of winning a game in the tourney this year. That doesnt mean they will, but I think they can.

Domestic Terrorism
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) So now let's say that my motive was actually just to rob the judge. But at the same time, the judge just happened to have finished hearing arguments in a controversial case. What then? How would you judge whether my motive was just robbery or if it was political? I guess a background check of the suspect would reveal a motive, dont you think? And I mean that in the sense that the suspects in this case would probably have a lot of things in their personal life pointing in the direction of a politically motivated personal attack on this judge. I dont know, im going off my feelings on this case so my answers probably arent very well articulated. Its not just vandalism, it has been an extended period of time that these people have been treated this way. . In this case I see these PETA types who are conducting mass smear campaigns on their own neighbors as well as the corporations they are working for, threatening their children, damaging property, posting their names and their extended families names on the internet, to me that is as close to foreign terrorism as you can get without being called that. And i probably wont agree with whats going on inside Huntington either, but like Tex said, change the law.

One dinner guest, one question.
QUOTE(bmags @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) i'd have to imagine hunter s. thompson would be pretty cool...but fairly intimidating. Yeah. What do you say to a guy who is probably on at least 4 different drugs and is seeing bats? My brother lived in Colorado right down the street from him. He told me that Hunter used to fire his guns all the time in the backyard and even used to fire his cannon every once in a while. lol

Domestic Terrorism
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) So based on that definition, any crime which destroys property related to a poltical protest would be considered terrorism? Then the question I fire back is the one I hear when hate crime debates come up...how do you judge when something is related to politics? (Note to DHS guys reading this post: this is a hypothetical, and I'm not going to do it). If a Judge somewhere were to be robbed and beaten up, should the people who beat him up be charged with terrorism? If it merits a harsher penalty, of course they'd deny that their motives involved politics, so how would you judge? Well, the way Im looking at it, the Judge would be getting beaten up for something the Judge did, that these people were reacting to (ie. jailed one of their buddies, jailed one of them, etc.). And the criminals beating up the judge would have to be doing it to get something done, as the people in the article are trying to shut down Huntington Lab by going after their insurers, workers, sponsors, etc. So I guess I would say yes, if there were a political protest in which a politicians personal property was destroyed and/or his family was threatened because of a stance the politician takes, then it would be terrorism to me.

Thome to bat 3rd
I think Boston's offense is going to take a small hit this year to tell you the truth. I dont think Alex gonzalez is an upgrade over Edgar Renteria, I certainly dont think Mike Lowell is an upgrade over Bill Mueller, Coco Crisp will be good but is he better than Damon? As long as they have Ortiz and Ramirez in the middle they will be one of if not the best 3-4 hitters in the league, but I think they are going to have to rely on pitching this year more than 11-7 blowouts.

I would ask LosMediasBlancas "Why did you go with the 'One dinner guest, one question.' thread?"
