Folks with kids...
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) Is a second baby shower tacky? Jim's sisters daughter is having another baby (3rd - a girl - she has 2 boys under 6) and they are throwing her a shower. The reason (they said this) is because she doesn't have any girl stuff...?? Am I crazy or is that just plain stupid logic? I think the etiquette surrounding this situation changes with the families. Some people think they need a baby shower every time they have a kid, some people think just one time. Others have baby showers everytime, but dont ask for gifts after the first baby, they just want everyone to get together to celebrate. I dont think it is really tacky, but thats just me.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) you obviously didnt sense his sarcasm. i would hope that in an argument like that, Qwerty would put that in green. I hope that is sarcasm, anyone that thinks that Pargo is better than Deng is the one who got dropped on his head when he was young.

Anyone else getting excited?
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Ok, but I will counter that with Cotts in the back row. He is about the same height as a-row. I just think its weird that Neal, AJ, Crede are all standing together in the back row, while their good friend Aaron is far away from them. Arow is 6 feet, Neal Cotts is 6'2"-6'3" depending on where you look. Either way, Arow is a short dude and needs to be in the front row. AJ, Crede, Blum, Contreras, they are all around 6'4"-6'5", they definitely need to be in the back.

Lollapalooza '06
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Yeah, but last year was pretty big and there wasn't an act that was a real huge draw. It felt like things were going back to how they should be, guess that didn't last long. No way, not when there is money to be made. I think Perry Ferrell also participated in the re-birth of Lollapalooza and then once again backed out when s*** wasnt going the way he wanted it to.

Anyone else getting excited?
Did anyone hear ESPN1000 this morning when they played the clip of George Bush mentioning Ed Farmer, it was great: President Bush(addressing the media) "Hey, there is Ed Farmer.." (slight pause, one person claps) President Bush "Well there is one person in here that knows Ed Farmer." Sometimes President Bush can actually slip in some really funny and NOT dumb quotes, and this was definitely one of them. the whole room was laughing.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) wow, your sig pic presents some interesting social questions. Look how far A-row is standing from his best friends on the team. I thought that too, but if you look at the pic all of the tall guys are pretty much in back and the short guys are in front. The only difference is Dye in front, but he was the MVP.

'Incredible Hulk' Star a Reserve Deputy
Big Lou is almost completely deaf IIRC. That is awesome that he has been able to accomplish so much in his life with a disability like that.

Lollapalooza '06
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) I have mixed feelings about this event. On the one hand, it's awesome that Chicago gets the event. With that many stages over 3 days, there are bound to be a lot of acts worth the time. We had a blast at last year's. On the other hand, now it's become a huge event and you'll get the 'event' crowd there. Also, now they need to sell a lot of tix, so look for some really, mainstream acts to be on the bill. I say the Pumpkins and Dave Mathews :puke each headline one night. http://www.suntimes.com/output/derogatis/c...tr-lolla14.html LOL, its been a big event pretty much from the start. The difference now is the acts that they use to draw the fans. In the beginning, it was up and comers. Now it is all about the money makers, the DMBs and the Smashing Pumpkins and anyone who can fill up a venue. Thats pretty much why Perry Ferrell abandoned the project in the late 90s. A 3 day Lollapalooza is pretty awesome though, I know I would make an effort to go to one night.

Poor kid.. but hysterical.
Ill tell you this as a child who had step parents and as the father of a Stepchild: There is no way in hell I would do that to my wife's kid. My kid, well that might be a different story(although the kid in the video seems to be a very easily scared kid). My brother, oh hell yes. But not my step kid. No way jose. Too many "Look what you did to my kid" scenarios that I have personally had to deal with growing up to risk that proposition. But it was funny.

Sox visit to White House may be on Monday
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) A jersey that says "Bush"? Get it? Eh? Eh? /lets the joke circle a few times around the head, and reluctantly lets it land with the agreement that it will be funny.

Does everyone remember watching the commercials for "Ronnie Fields: The Art of Dunk" while watching Sox games on Sportschannel? I certainly do, they played that highlight reel all the time.

T.O. to the Bears?
These posts lately are just hilarious. This is just the last week: -The Bulls did the right thing in drafting Kirk Hinrich instead of LeBron James because Kirk Hinrich plays better defense(as if the Bulls had a shot at drafting him anyways....) -The Bears should just DROP Rex Grossman or he should retire because Jerry Angelo has already said that Orton is the starting QB(although the quote said "Rex Grossman is the starter going into training camp) -Donovan McNabb is clearly the most over-rated player in the league, and because of this the Bears should take a chance on TO because the whole thing that happened in Philly was overblown. Did I miss any good ones?

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) Can you explain why?? Because he is dominating HS like no one has since Shaq. Does this look like a Tractor Traylor type of body or does this look like an active rebounder. You decide. Dunking 1 Dunking 2 Swatting the ball Rebounding More Swatting Oden is a man-child. Robert Traylor wont even be able to hold this kids jock.

Criteria For Choosing a College
And SIU isnt on that list? One of the best broadcast journalism programs around buddy. If those are your schools, you should definitely make sure that your major is a top priority in the school you choose. ps. are you trying to isolate yourself when you get to college? Jeez, I dont think I have ever seen that many "far far away" locations on a list of prospective colleges .

Lions finally hire Martz as OC
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) I'm not sure it'd be stupid to give him a HC job. His record is insanely good as a HC. If I had a Monte Kiffin or that tytpe of strong DC I'd let him be my HC. I think the concern will be what Martz does with slower receivers like Detroit has opposed to the great route running burners he had. I don't think Mike Williams will fit in better than Scotty Vines. I don't worry about the QB spot though. Nobody wanted Kurt Warner or Marc Bulger and they became stars under Martz. I think if Fitzpatrick stayed with Martz he would have done something. I wouldn't be shocked if your 07 starting QB in Detroit is taken late in this years draft They probably will draft a QB in the first round LOL, that would be the icing on the cake. 2002 draft - QB 2003 draft - WR 2004 draft - WR 2005 draft - WR 2006 draft - QB They have taken the mantle of "draft ineptness" away from the Bears, and they ran and hid with it.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Kyyle that isn't exactly true. The coach before Merfield was Jim Crews who coached them to some of their best years and had them in the NCAA Tournament as recently as 1999 when they lost to Kansas. It is true that the program's decline began at the end of Coach Crews tenure, but it has continued on its downward spiral. The athletics landscape has definitely changed at the school. And there will need to be a higher level of commitment from the administration, there is no doubt. But a major reason that revenue is down is the basketball team. Attendance has been at or near an all-time low the past 5 years. From what I understand, the actual attendance is currently far below what they are announcing. There were a couple of threads last year discussing the possibilty of Evansville dropping to DII. Apparantly their board is in favor of it, athletic dept is not

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) This is the Will Ferrell I enjoy. Absurdist, Very Smart, and portraying Overbearing characters. Plus, Da Ali G as a French Driver = Comedy Gold! http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/tallade...ghts/index.html Oh yeah, i saw the trailer for this a month ago and knew I would like it. I still laugh my ass off at Anchorman, even though it is probably the most quoted movie in history now. Come on, Ali G and Will Ferrell sharing a screen? Comedy Platinum, no, Comedy Diamond. Im so looking forward to this. And Steve Carell better have a part.

Deceptive advertising by Twins
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) Are they implying something, since the bat looks so small in Barry's hand? What, you think they are trying to be subtle in telling everyone that Bonds is bigger than the game and the team?
