  2. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) f*** you Rosenhaus. That guy is a POS. He insists that he doesnt tell his clients to hold-out, but yet most of his clients stage hold-outs. I read somewhere that Anquan boldin's original agent is suing because Rosenhaus stole his client.
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) I just read the Reds are asking for a 3 player pkg with no less than a #3 starter for Dunn. Sheesh! What are they smoking in Cincy? I dunno, I guess the market for a low average, high OBP, high strikeout, high homer guy is pretty big right now. I have found that there is no middle ground with Dunn, people either think he is great or dont like him at all(as a player). Im one of the unimpressed. I think his high K rate and low BA outweigh his high OBP, but I think I am in the minority. The Cubs fans are jonesin' for him bigtime though, they think his high OBP will somehow lead to more runs being scored, but fail to recognize that he is the one to be driving the runs in, not the one to be driven in.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Goodenow had to resign, he just got the s*** kicked out of him in this. He screwed up BIG TIME by underestimating the resolve of the owners. Well, when your negotiating point it "There will be no salary cap" and at the end there is a salary cap, you kind of lose the trust of your union. This is no surprise though, there have been alot of people calling for his and bettmans head throughout the whole lockout, Bettman came out on top(sort of, at the expense of one year) and he probably will be hailed for saving hockey in 10 years...if his new CBA works out as designed.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) With the Yankees being so desperate for pitching, I think we could get a little more. I don't know exactly what that is, but we could get more and probably should to hurt their chances a little. I thought Gordon was supposed to be DLed soon because of shoulder problems? It seems odd that the Sox would want him if he is known to have been overworked last year, and having shoulder problems this year. Sounds like the New York media throwing s*** out there and seeing what could be done.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) Man, I can remember when this guy was supposed to team with ARod in Seattle to give the best young 1-2 punch in history, and was then one of hte highest regarded players traded by Seattle when they tried to make a pennant run. I also remember that Lou Piniella never wanted to give the kid a chance, and he was rotting on the bench in Seattle. Getting traded probably was one of the best things that ever happened to him, and he just never stayed anywhere long enough to make an impact. I thought he was going to be good if he was able to stay in one place long enough, but sadly this was never to be.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Betteman next? I doubt it, Bettman got what he wanted didnt he? He got his salary cap, even though it cost him a season.

  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) That's fine, to each his own. I get a feeling, based on the $$$ they made from that record, things won't be changing. I completely agree with that.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) You can't tell me you don't enjoy that Jet record. Yes I can, and I will. i thought it was awful. Its one thing to have influences, it is a completely other thing to use the same songs and pass them off as your own with different lyrics. Jet gets no props from me, they need to find their own sound.
  11. The band Jet has blatantly ripped off the Black Crowes, AC/DC, and the beatles. I would have to say the rip-off torch has been passed.

  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) The first two Crowes albums were brilliant, I thought. The followup efforts kind of lacking, or maybe Chris was too into the ganja to give it his all. I saw them in a college basketball arena on the first leg of the Moneymaker tour a loooong time ago and they were outstanding. I cant fault Chris anymore if the music isnt hitting too hard anymore. I would be equally disinterested if my wife was Kate Hudson
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) If you are judging by hit after hit, there has to be some love for Cronin and the boys. 30+ years with hits spanning the 70, 80, 90, 2000. REO Speedwagon has had hits in the 90's and 2000's? Do tell!
  15. The Grateful dead has to get some play, and I am not even a fan. Thier following and constant touring was pretty unique until Phish ripped their vibe.... and of course when Jerry Garcia died. But they get a vote from me.
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) I know most of you don't give a rip... But the first official trade of the new CBA is Darcy Hordichuk going to the Nashville Predators for a 4th round draft pick. Is the draft going to be combined this years and last years entrees? Is it going to be extra long?
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Well at least Cleveland lost i figured they would when they went to the 9th tied with Oakland. Those guys are just too good right now. They need their yearly august-september Yankee asswhoopin/humbling experience.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) This past week has to be the worst in White Sox baseball for the whole year. We need to get it together. Ozzie should do something wacky and just put in all the bench players the next game and allow rest for our starters. There is no crying in baseball. Dont make me come back there and smack you like a b****.
  19. DJ has to be the biggest jinx in the history of all jinxes. I swear everytime something goes right, he remarks about it and the very next pitch its over. Luisa can go with for the ride for any trade consummated by the end of the week, they have my approval. I dont feel all that bad, because Mike Sweeney did the same thing to the Twins last week. I think he had nine consecutive hits or something crazy. I am curious as to how god-like he would be if he was able to stay injury free. I dont think I have seen a more dangerous hitter than Sweeney when he is healthy, there isnt any pitch he wont foul off to get to the pitch he wants to hit.
  20. This is where I think that AJ is a better game-caller. I think he is much better at out-thinking hitters in crunch time.
  21. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Was it a throwing error or a missed grounder? Routine play or a tough chance? Nope, Nope, yep, Nope
  22. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Carl has a .759 OPS. How many teams in baseball have a #3 hitter with a lower OPS? I would venture to say none. I think his less than regular playing time has an effect on all of his numbers. Before Thomas came back, Carl was having a pretty good year.
  23. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Did you see the series this past weekend. Won two games and scared the crap out me (us?) in another. He is an enigma but if pay a chunck...... Yeah, I saw him. Do you think if he was the centerpiece of the White Sox offense that it would score more? The Red Sox order is a tough out, top to bottom. He isnt really the featured hitter, as he would be in Chicago. Ortiz, Ramirez, Varitek and Nixon is much scarier than Rowand, Ramirez, Pierzinski and Dye, no matter how you spin it. Plus, the White Sox rely on good defense, two words that should never go in a sentence with Manny Ramirez. Pods may not be a great defensive OF, but he makes alot of plays with his speed that would skip past Ramirez on two hops. Ramirez is a GREAT hitter, but I dont think he would fit and I think corpseball would return full speed ahead.
