  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) They still get to play the Royals 11 more times, which means an automatic 9 or 10 more wins. The Tigers and Indians should give them a good fight though. I dont see the Twins blowing through the competition in the same way they did last season.
  2. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Who on earth voted for DJ... Come on...Fess up... It was anthrax, you know it.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) I wonder if JR and company actually did move to Tampa back in the day if their fate would have been any better. I think it would have been similar, but there is no way that JR would have approved that mad spending period in the late 90's that brought the D-Rays such prozed prospects as Juan Guzman, Greg Vaughn, Wilson Alvarez, Jose Canseco, and Vinny Castilla. When Lamarr attempted to buy a championship with these old and fragile pieces, he should have been fired on results alone. Somehow he keeps his job and continues to make bad franchise decisions.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) Pinella is doing everything he can to get fired. Too bad Tampa's management is too cheap for that. Tampas management is putting themselves in a worse position everytime they screw Lou over. What manager is going to want to come in there and try and right that ship? What FA's are going to consider going there, and how much would management be willing to give up? It seems like the Expos management moved to Tampa. Its a shame really, but then again they play in a crappy dome and havent done much to try and draw fans. Plus, Chuck Lamarr is running things, and noone will make deals with him because he is insane. So Tampa holds on to their talent until its too late and they cannot get enough for it, or the talent just walks out the front door and Tampa gets a compensatory pick. Its a bad cycle that they put themselves in.
  5. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) Well, they've won the first 2 games of the series, in my presence. Hopefully they can still win without me being there. Go Sox....get the sweep! you do know that if they lose today, its now your fault, right? LOL
  6. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) not to be negative, because we are 30 games over .500 and all is right in the world, but i think dj's home run call blows. dont feel bad, we all think that way.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) "White Sox May 1: Placed first baseman Ross Gload on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 25, with left shoulder inflammation" LOL Great visual aid
  8. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead For the people who rode the little yellow school bus... I love how you always consider everyone else slow-minded.
  9. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) This trade thread has degenerated into oblivion. Anthrax is good at doing this to certain threads. He just has that certain magnetism that draws us all in.
  10. It probably tough for the KW hata's out there right now. The critiques get more and more random and made up when the Sox continue to do better.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Yes, so stop arguing for your opinions, we wont get him in a trade, and we wont in Free Agency. LOL
  12. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) No that is the point.. 10 mil for JS or a younger verison of JS.. I'll take the younger version please. of course neither will be on the sox with their asking price so all this arguing is pointless... ...which makes your first point of Burnett being "easier to sign" moot.
  13. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) And how much is that option for? 10 million. But thats besides the point. He does not have to be signed, AJ Burnett does. Burnett is already looking for that kind of money. Moot point.
  14. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) padres are looking at him, they want him at second so they can put loretta at third I thought they were more interested in him because Loretta is hurt right now(broken pinky or something like that) and they wanted Damian Jackson to be a utility player more than a starter. Either way, I think Boone ends up a Padre, its his hometown I think.

    Sexiest woman alive

Im convinced that Marcil and Eva Longoria are long lost twins. They both have the same "Im going to do bad things to you" look in their layouts. Good Pics Chaos!
  16. Hermanson only issued a bereavement warning, saying that something could happen soon. Nothing happened yet though.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Another thing, how does Burnett fit into our rotation any better than the Yankees? We've already got 5 starting pitchers under contract for next year, only ours have been more effective and have been healthier than the Yankee's group. I highly doubt we are going to sign another starter for big bucks, since we are already spending so much on our rotation, and Garland will be due for a raise. We simply can't afford to have half our payroll in the starting rotation. And then there is that.... To me, I see it like this: Clemens> Burnett Oswalt>Burnett Burnett>Schmidt Schmidt>Contreras So basically I would be happy with any one of those guys to replace Contreras at the 4 spot(or El Duque at the 5, if Contreras were part of the trade). Burnett would be nice, but I think all dreams of re-signing him where he would like to get paid should be thrown out the window. It comes down to which rent-a-player would cost the Sox the least and give them the most(health + performance). That pretty much throws out all but Oswalt, and even he had some injury problems last year.
  18. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) \ Why would AJ not be resignable? I think we can get it down, we have Carl, Pauly,Frank,Timo and Shingo all coming off the books next year. We have some cash to go after another SP that could make us damn ferking good for the next 3-4 years. Who doesn't want to be a Yankee? Get overpaid and if you underperform everyone else besides you it seems gets the boot. Where in the Rotation is AJ going to fit in? They have Johnson,Pavano, Mussina, Brown, and The infamous Jarret Wright. I know that RJ CP and JW are all signed through next year.. I don't know the current status of MM and KB. Also factor in Oswalt, is he not a FA next year as well? If I were the Yankees and had my choice I would go after Oswalt over AJ, which would help us out in signing him. IMO, Schmidt is a bad idea if this was jason from 2002, then yeah go for it.. I just think what we would have to give up would not be worth the reward. Lots of speculation on both of our parts. Where in the Rotation is AJ going to fit in? They have Johnson,Pavano, Mussina, Brown, and The infamous Jarret Wright. Something tells me that Kevin Brown is either done after this year or he is goign to take his act elsewhere. new York doesnt have alot of patience with Brown after his substandard year last year, his attitude, and his lack of health. Wright may never pitch for the Yankees, who knows? He seems to have one good year and then goes on the DL for 5 years. I think we can get it down, we have Carl, Pauly,Frank,Timo and Shingo all coming off the books next year. Im glad you are positive that the Sox will not make a run at all of these players, but I doubt that seriously. If I were the Yankees and had my choice I would go after Oswalt over AJ, which would help us out in signing him. So if the Yankees throw big money at Oswalt, setting the bar on FA pitchers in the market, this helps the Sox sign someone who is already looking for big money? Im thinking this would set the Sox back even more if Oswalt signed with the Yanks, it would probably drive the bargaining up and put him out of the Sox range.
  19. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Why do the Sox always seem to have trouble against them? that there is the Lou Piniella factor. He has put a fiestiness into the team, now he needs to loosen the purse-strings of his two headed upper management....
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) You believe everything you read, don't you? You think KW is just going to come out and spill everything to the media ahead of time? He isn't known for being "under the radar" for nothing. I just posted some rumors I saw on the MLB.com website. Noone said I believed anything. I wasnt refuting anything you said, I just happened to come across that page and posted it.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Also pitching in one of the biggest pitchers parks in baseball... im sensing sarcasm here....
  22. QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) On an unrelated note - Lance Berkman would look damn good in a Sox uniform. Why would Berkman even be on KWs radar? Would you sit Podsednik, Dye, or Rowand so that Berkman could start?
  23. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) He had one major injury 2 years ago and is finally recovered. He is a "southside" type guy, much like pauly is. He is a legit starter, and would only cost about 9-10mil to resign in the offseason, just think of the rotation going from the trading dealine till 2008. What do we get from trading for Clemens and Schimdt other than a rent a player? Clemens won't resign and JR won't pony up the money for a healthy Schimdt..if he ever gets back to form. AJ on the other hand, is a class A stud and would be a steal for 9/10 a year, plus figure the ozzie discount..might get him cheaper. Marky Freddy AJ Jon Jose I take Jose as my number 5 any day of the week. This keeps El DL healthy come playoff time, could help us. Enough with the Russ Ortiz, again for the slow minded, the debate was between Jarret wright and Russ Ortiz.. Please let me know if you think that we should have signed Wright over Ortiz. I think the problem is that AJ wants to be a Yankee(so the rumors go). You are thinking that AJ is re-signable, but this isnt known. Plus, AJ may have the stuff to be worth a 9-10 million per year contract, but he hasnt done anything yet to warrant a contract that big. The Marlins in 03 won the world series without him, it isnt as if he has the experience.

  25. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) It's funny because it seems like most of those in support of trading for Schmidt are against trading for Clemens. I find that funny as well. I see them as being broken from a similar, if not the same mold. The difference being that Clemens has been able to maintain good health in the past few years and Schmidt has been on and off. The only reason I would be against it is the money aspect, and if Clemens is gone next year(most likely) who are you plugging in his place? A year older El Duque? Contreras? It wont be a minor leaguer.
