  1. In the 93 playoffs, I remember Ozzie didnt like the waving socks because you couldnt pick the ball when it was hit if everyone was waving them.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) It sucks that Wagner is going to end up on the Red Sox. About a month ago, I was having an argument with a Red Sox fan who's a friend of mine. I was saying that Wagner is easily one of the top 5 closers in baseball, whereas he said he wasn't even in the top 10 (citing "better" closers such as Nathan and both Corderos, though Chad is definitely in the top 10, too). Now, his spoiled team will land the closer that he was disrespecting and he'll rub it in my face. Sometimes life is unfair. You never know, I was reading that Thome was the Philly they were targeting. They sure are in full swapping mode right now, some of their current roster has to be moving for all of these trades they are trying to swing.
  3. Yikes, I dont even want to think about him throwing bombs again in the Cell. Stay away, stay far far away
  4. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) There was as short blurb on espn1000 about the possibility of this trade. They also mentioned some minor league infielder from Boston to the Twinkies instead of Mueller. Not Youklis... can't remember the name. Watch the Twins get Hanley Ramirez, now that would be bad.
  5. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) It would suck because instead of them covering the playoffs they would be runing specails on how to fix the yankess and red sox. LOL Anthrax, thats the funniest(and the most truthful) thing I have seen you type.
  6. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) equidistant = best hawk word LOL, thats a good one too. Used every game when announcing the outfield of either team.
  7. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) Ah, what fine long-term memories you people possess. HAs he earned the right to start? Absolutely. Will he start? Definitely. If I had to bet my money on either a playoff game that Garland starts vs. one that El Duque starts do I bet on Garland's game? Nope, not a chance. So by your logic we should discount all performances this year by either player, and only look at their past performance? Now thats funny Wong.
  8. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Garland isn't exactly a rock at this point either. What? Then who is? Garland has been just fine.
  9. QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) i think its pretty close to selling out. wish i could be there. I had a feeling that last nights game would have a metriculating (Hawk Word) effect on tonites game. That kind of atmosphere is so much fun, wave or no wave.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I'm in...for sure. I'll be the "who the hell is this guy" out of the group. And i will be standing next to you as the "who in the hell is THAT" guy lol, it sounds like it will be alot of fun though
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I'm sure the Twins could augment the deal with some of their minor league ballplayers. Still, who is misplaced for Millar? They have leCroy and Morneau playign first, and Lew Ford as the 4th outfielder. Boston sure has been eager to get rid of Millar in the past 2 years though
  12. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) The startribune is reporting that a deal is in the works for boston's Bill Mueller to to the Twins for JC Romero. Kevin Millar is also available. This could be a trade that gets the Twins rolling. Not enough to catch the Sox, but still... Linky I doubt Millar would be included in just that scenario(Mueller AND Millar for Romero). Plus, Millar really doesnt fit the Twins style too well(all hit, no glove), and they already have alot of DH options. Mueller I could see moving, but not both of them for Romero.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Glad you are on our side, then. LOL. I try.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) No way man. Skin only, dude. Allright, but I should let you know I am a yellowbelt. Like Drama on "Entourage".
  15. So is this gonna be like West Side Story? Are we gonna fight WSI at some point during the game? Should I bring my brass knuckles?
  16. Need a date so I can give you a confirmation. But I am interested for sure
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) I'm not all that concerned with August. We can muddle through if he needs a break. I'm more concerned if Mark or Jon or Freddie goes down. That's why I think we should pick up another starter. I think this also presents a problem with acquiring a starter. What starter is going to want to come here and start only if El Duque is hurt? It really limits what Kenny can go out and do because Duque's status is always in flux. To me(and only to me, its only my opinion) Duque is really going to have to prove himself in the next month to be healthy and durable.
  18. QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) monday night is 1/2 price night the last couple of mondays have been sold out. Tues is buy one get one free but only has to do with the upper deck seats only I believe. I thought the cell held 38000 + but the numbers tonight were 37445, or close to that figure on the screen, a sellout, or something so what is the cell's capacity? Tonight the stadium rocked!! Carmen mentioned this mornign that the PAID attendance was 37445, but with all of the player and personnel comps the attendance was well over 39+.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) I think the Sox should get another starter, but not because of El Duque. We have 2.5 months of season left and one of our 5 starters could have a Halladay or Prior type incident happen. If I knew our 5 starters would be healthy all year, I'd dance with the ones that brought us. The important part of your statement. Hernandez really worries me that he is going to need more "time off" in mid august.
  20. Good enough to stop worrying about a trade for another starter?
  21. Im just wondering what everyone's feel is about last nights pitching performance out of Hernandez. I felt that he was still pretty shaky, and didnt show what he needed to show in order to take the butterflies out of my stomach every time he pitches until the end of the season. Lost in the glory that was Joe Crede, Juan Uribe, Konerko and Thomas going deep was that Hernandez only went 6 innings, gave up 4 earned runs, and threw 96 pitches. I didnt expect him to go deep into the game, truth be told, but i was hoping for a little more efficiency and for El Duque to avoid the big inning. Do you feel any better today about the 5th starter spot than you did before yesterdays game?
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation...g?event_id=1431 cant believe its so cubs dominated, oh wait, yeah I can. Think about how many states are in what is considered New England. That gives them that many more chances to talk about Boston and New York.
  23. Jason Smith is on today, he is a New York honky. You guys will probably hate him.
  24. He (and all of his troll sub-names) has been banned. Cub and Twins fan, go figure.
