QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) Call me crazy...but maybe because he battled a Rex-like dino in the original. Plus there was the stegasarus on the island in the original. Oh...also the Pterydactyl. It's a lost island where time stood still. Anybody here ever see the original??? I have, you are correct about T Rex. In the orginal King Kong defeated rex by grabbing both sides of his jaws and prying them apart. I am excited about this movie, and dont mind saying so. The problem nowadays is that people put too much stock in reality when science fiction/fantasy movies come out. Its a friggin movie about a humungous gorilla who falls in love with a animal 1/100th of its size and defends her. How can the movie be awful because T Rex is in it?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Yes but if your in the ocean and a shark decides your food you are pretty much screwed, or something in the ocean your helpless.... So what? If you live in California, Florida, The Rockies, the Appalacians(sp?), a Puma could decide you are food and you are screwed. If you live in Florida, Louisiana, Georgia (any of the southern states) an Alligator could decide you are food and you are screwed. If you live in Alaska, Wyoming, (mostly northern states) a grizzly could decide you are food and you are screwed(in fact, it happened just 22 days ago http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/27/bear.attack.ap/index.html). A large variety of predatory animals exist around us, and being completely afraid of them and avoiding everywhere they exist just isnt part of my lifestyle. Sometimes s*** happens. Like the kid who had his leg amputated. He confused the shark, the shark wasnt hungry for human blood. The kid was reeling in a fish when the shark attacked, the fish was thrashing in the water and there was fish blood in the water, the shark just honed in on the activity. Alligators attack people in Florida about as frequently as sharks attack people.(http://www.southeasternoutdoors.com/wildlife/reptiles/fatal-alligator-attacks.html) Are you saying that anyone who is in a car accident has a chance to swerve out of the way? Thats utterly ridiculous, it is offensive to anyone who has had someone die in a car wreck. What are you basing this on? Tiger Sharks are known to be one of the most aggressive species of shark. And they are much bigger sharks, making the need for their food source to be bigger. http://www.njscuba.net/biology/sw_fish_sha...hore.html#Tiger

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) This serves Steinbrenner a little slice of justice. He has so many players with no-trade clauses that can't be moved, no prospects to move and the players he can trade say they won't go. I agree. He made that bed, let him lie in it. It makes me laugh every time I think about what Giambi has done and how much money they are paying him. That 80 million has to be staring Steinbrenner in the face right about now.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) T-Rex shows up why? This movie looks awful. The movie is supposed to draw on all of Kongs history. One of Kongs most famous movies is Kong vs T Rex, so they put it in there. Personally I think the CGI looks pretty cool, it looks like they combined Jurassic Park and Kongs island though, not too sure about that. Some people like remakes (re-imaginations as Tim Burton put it), some people dont. FlaxxSoxx, I saw Meet the Feebles. Muppets on Acid is a good description, the end scene is crazy. I never thought I would see the day when Muppets had sex and it was shown.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) To be blunt, he f***ing sucks dog balls. I have seen him pitch a few times, he looks about the same as he did in his bad year with the Sox. His changeup doesnt have the movement and hangs over the plate, he doesnt have the velocity anymore. Foulke is a strange one, he seems to go in cycles. -
QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) I think this site is full of teen-agers. Who hasnt even seen the old ballpark... Well I only know of one baby..... As if seeing the old ballpark has anything to do with the present team. And I will have you know that I have seen a game at the old ballpark.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) LAA is the only team with a better 4th starter than us. Minny doesn't have a good 4th starter. I believe that's Kyle Lohse or Joe Mays right now. They aren't better than Count and remember, Count dominates bad hitting clubs usually. Minny is a bad hitting club. Boston had Clement and Schilling, but Miller or Wakefield as their 4th. Miller isn't back to his form pre injury. And Minny does not have a better hitting club than us. Minnesota is also trying to add sox-killa-extraordinaire Randa also. This will make them a better hitting club IMHO, and it certainly wont hurt their defense. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Last year, Houston was 14th in terms of total runs scored in the MLB. We are currently sitting ninth this year. Where were they before they added Beltran and went on that amazing run? I am sure they were towards the bottom of the league before Beltran showed up, they were dead in the water shortly before the break. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) Look at Houston. They made a damn good run with Rocket and Oswalt and Backe who is far from an ace. St. Louis had a worse off pitching staff than that. You are looking at two teams whose offenses were considerably better than the White Sox is. Those teams could get away with having less in the pitching department because the teams could mash with the best of them. But look what happened to St Louis when they met a team that was just as good hitting, but had better pitching? The Red Sox mowed them down like noones business because they had pitching. -

There is no such thing as having enough pitching in the World Series. Too many legitimate aces on your staff is not a problem. Even if this mortgages the future, this is a chance you have to take. The Sox arent in the playoffs yet, lets not talk about how the Sox will do 1-3. Lets instead talk about mowing down the competition en route to the playoffs. I think adding Jason Schmidt to the rotation will certainly help stave off a suddenly comptetive AL Central, and if the rotation comes into question if(when) the Sox get into the playoffs, worry about it then. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) How long do you think it'll take Mark to dispose of the Tiger trash tonight? Guesses must be down to the minute, Price is Right rules apply. Whoever is closest without going over wins.......... a nice swift boot to the plums. Ill bite. 1 hour 51 minutes. -
QUOTE(Spiff @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) I'm pretty sure he's not. I dont think Milonakis is over 18 years old if anything. If anyone could find his real age it would help.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) There was a He-man movie? I missed that one. The GI Joe movie was pretty solid, even if a little weird with the whole Cobra-la thing. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093507/ The biggest dissapointment of my 9 year old lifetime.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) Yeah, that Dare to be Stupid scene was pretty awesome... I remember almost crying the first time I saw that movie, they killed a ton of my favorites (like Optimus, Ironhide, and Prowl) right away. I am stoked for the new movie which is supposed to be released next summer. You know that movie is either going to be tremendously awesome or tremendously screwed up. I am thinking probably the former, considering the anticipation that this movie is causing. I also read that another of my favorite childhood cartoons is attempting another big screen flik: He-Man. Now ask yourself this, which of these two 80's cartoons did their fans a bigger dis-service with their movies, He-Man(Masters of the Universe) or Transformers? Dolph Lundren? Weird Al Jankovic? Courteney Cox? Optimus Prime dying?

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Well, when Alfonzo was with the Mets he was hitting homers and his defense was a lot better. He doesn't hit many homers anymore but he was and still is an OBP machine. You have to be healthy to have a high OBP, when Alfonzo was with the Mets he stayed reasonably healthy. This is not the case anymore. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) If I knew that both Schmidt and Alfonzo could stay healthy, I would probably make that deal. Our team would get so much better. Schmidt would make our rotation one of the best in the entire MLB (maybe THE best). Alfonzo would improve our lineup a ton with his ability to get on base. The Giants would have to pick up a lot of Alfonzo's contract though. He will earn $7 million next season. That's why I don't see this trade happening. WTF?!?!?! Alfonzo wasnt even worth that kind of change when he was a .350 hitter with the Mets in 99! Sabean should be fired for giving Alfonzo a contract like that. Holy cow, I cannot believe that Alfonzo is due 7 million next year. -
They are riding the wave of Jackass until they cannot ride it anymore. MTV pampers them and they take advantage of it. The parents dont care because MTV replaces everything that Bam destroys. Its basically "Problem Child: 20 years later", and the teeny boppers still watch. Personally, I think the Wild Boyz is the good Jackass spinoff of the two of them. Steve-O and Pontius still do stupid things and make you laugh, but there is an element of danger every once in a while(dressing like bananas and TRYING to piss off a silverback gorilla, tying fish to your belt to let sharks eat it off, etc..) and then there is the humor and disgusting humor that keeps me in. And there is even a slight element of education there. PLUS, when Johnny Knoxville made an appearance and they made Steve-O believe that Johnny was bitten by a venomous snake, that was priceless. Bam can go, Steve-O and Pontius have a good thing going.
