And if he comes up with your .270/.350/.800 number, would you not feel that it was smart to lock him up? Is it not a good idea to lock up your young good players and avoid acrimony through the arb process?

Same reason they extended Eloy and Robert, they believe he is going to contribute to the team right now and want the financial control with the player through his arb years instead of dealing with the crappy arb process. Just have to hope that their evaluation is correct
