  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) Moves will be made, but very minor ones, especially next offseason. i dont know, I dont think it will be as barren wasteland as you think. They are in full asset acquisition mode right now, they should be looking for bounce back potential players that they can flip, for the next few seasons. On top of that, we will/should be watching the development of a lot of young exciting players, hopefully at the major league level as soon as eligible.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 28m28 minutes ago Idle thought: Could @whitesox land switch-hitting prodigy Josh Bell & Tyler Glasnow from Pirates in deal for Quintana & Todd Frazier? Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 26m26 minutes ago @whitesox want Austin Meadows in Jose Quintana deal but Josh Bell also fits the need for young hitters w/big upside. please stop idle thoughting after you browse twitter, Phil
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) once again we see that calls to congressman matter a great deal. I wish this sort of thing happened last month when the NC republicans cut off the incoming democrat governors nuts before he came into office.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) JR needs to call Pax, tell him to fire Gar, fire Fred, and tell him he needs to coach the team the rest of the season. The result should show whether Pax should resume his current job, or seek employment elsewhere. on his new years interview with David Schuster, he actually said that the roster was not athletic enough. Its one thing that we all know this, it is a completely different thing that Paxson said it. He is basically putting it on Gar I think Gar *might* get canned if this team keeps putting out these mediocre to bad efforts through january, but I dont think Hoiberg goes anywhere at least until next season.
  5. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) Let's say the two switch teams. Does Brady put up better numbers than Rodgers on the Packers and vice versa does Rodgers put up worse numbers than Brady on the Patriots? Rodgers is already the highest rated passer in NFL history by a substantial margin (and this doesn't even account for his well above average rushing abilities). Statistically speaking from an individual standpoint, he's in a league of his own. Who knows, it's entirely hypothetical. rodgers is a great qb and so is Brady, that's all I'm saying.
  6. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 09:52 AM) But the Patriots are good without him. The Packers are garbage without Aaron Rodgers because Rodgers is a better quarterback and more valuable player. That means Belicheck is a better GM than Thompson and is able to assemble a better team around him, it doesn't make Rodgers clearly better than Brady
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) Brady reminds me of Duncan where you know he is good and they win every year, but it's so methodical you might not appreciate it as much. Where as Rodgers makes that throw to Geronimo last night and you are just in awe. I think people just forget that Brady keeps on making the same great throws because he has been doing it for so long. Brady and Rodgers are both elite, amazing quarterbacks.
  8. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) I don't think there's any doubt Rodgers is a better player than Brady. The Patriots are just a better overall organization top to bottom. There is plenty of doubt. Brady is pretty f***ing good
  9. Howard is 7th in the NFL in rushing and didn't even play for like the first 4 games. Just an instant 100 yards
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) I would say it started in July with the negotiating of current player (and Sale) trades and the trade of Zach Duke (good thing we traded him when we did, huh?) That's nice but Hahn told us all we will know what direction they are going with the first move of the offseason. I'm not gonna pick nit about it, the point is people need to relax and stop with the impatience and doomsday declarations. Strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride
  11. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 12:39 AM) The Sox will not trade Quintana without that one headliner - an elite position player prospect. I am among those who think the Sox should wait for the phone to ring now, and not trade Q unless and until they get that player. Frazier is in a different category. The Sox might even consider picking up part of his 2017 Contract if they get prospects in return, and those prospects obviously would not be in that elite category. Therefore, that move would mainly be a salary dump, nothing to get too excited about. It could be argued that the rebuild strategy is now beginning to fizzle a bit and that the Sox might not be able to pull off another trade during the off-season for another elite position player prospect. I fear the worst case scenario - that this rebuild could leave the Sox mired in mediocrity for a longer time than most Sox fans want to endure. The time frame for this rebuild has to be a short one. I already see fans growing impatient, wondering what kind of a team is going to be on the field on Opening Day. Fans might say they are patient for a rebuild, but that patience might evaporate if this team becomes the laughing stock in Chicago while the Cubs keep killing it. JFC, Chris Sale was traded less than one month ago, give me a f***ing break already. It's January first and people are talking about the rebuild failing already and it started 25 days ago.
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) Yup. Nothing there. I just want to point out that raBBit was breaking things on this site, as a college sophomore home on winter break.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) The single-player is the best stories I've played in a FPS. There's like 7 different tracks you go down that tell different WW1 stories. It's really deep, well-acted, and makes you feel like you're there. quoted for Chili at steves request
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 10:46 AM) Reading between the lines, its sounds like a nice way of saying Howard is lazy in practivce. except the word before he got the starters job was he was killing it in practice. The only thing i was reading/hearing was he had problems with pass protection, and multiple analysts have mentioned that he has gotten a lot better over the course of the season
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) I thought they already had the final show. So they are having another final show then. It is a Boers farewell show, I believe he is hosting by himself and they are playing a bunch of old calls and bits. I think it's just just own goodbye to radio
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Is Cowley pairing up with Bernstein to replace Boers? I could have sworn I heard him say that he looks forward to January 5th? (I was sort of half listening on my lunch break) If so that would reach a new level smarmy greater than though radio right there, yeesh. Jan 5th is the Boers show, that's what he was referring to
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) Adding a veteran "slugger" would be doing more of exactly what I've been "whining" about for years. Sorry if I don't share you and Dick's love of declining veterans, crowding out young players and its inevitable result: 78 win baseball. Sell of a few more this winter and then they can add to the inventory. no, adding a one year sign and flip at the deadline player is your constant whine, you know how you love to bring that Cubs front office doing that. Instead you choose to view it as HAHN AND KENNY RAWWWR THEY SIGNING DECLINING HEROS RAAAWR LET ME REPEAT MY SAME COMPLAINT EVEN AS THEY APPEAR TO FINALLY BE DOING WHAT I WANTED EVERYONE GROUPTHINKS BUT ME RAAAWR This team isnt winning 78 games next season, and whatever hero they choose to sign isnt going to change that. Love how you think more players to deal at the deadline is too much to handle though. Solid analysis
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) For the love of God, you don't always need to play for a full year to figure out if a guy can play or not. If there is a guy who can put up some numbers and perhaps get them a player at the deadling, it sure beats Coats beating you on the head in July showing he can't play full time at the major league level. I'm pretty sure the Sox have a decent idea whether or not they can play right now. It's sort of why certain prospects are targeted and they just don't take 10 random guys for their assets. Dont you understand that every post must contain a shot at hahn and williams, even when they do exactly what you have been whining about for years? Come on DA, GET WITH THE ANTI HERO This rebuild is obviously so confusing for the front office they dont need more guys to flip its just too much to think about
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) The Bears giving up the 4th pick somehow for JimG seems like the Jags taking Bortles to me. Seemed like an overdraft to lots of people at the time but people justified it by saying "If you've gotten your QB it's worth the price". Both are probably true. That's too high of a price to pay, but if you are in a position where you have to gamble to save your job - taking no action at the QB spot or drafting a QB gives them a 100% chance of being fired while trading for G gives them a 75% chance of being fired, you do the math. Can anyone give me a recent example of a team signing or trading for another team's backup QB to be a starter and having it work out well? I just scrolled through the top 25 QBs this week and the only one that might describe is Tyrod Taylor. Nothing recently really. Only one I can think of recently is Schaub in Houston but it didn't last long
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) What happened to Joe West deserves a suspension? Golf happened
  21. I was at the game when Herbert Perry fell on his face trying to catch a Jim Thome foul ball from tripping over third base. Thome sent the next pitch 3/4 up the hideous blue batters eye. One of the longest homeruns i have ever seen live, if not the longest
  22. hard for me to justify it when we spent all season complaining about depth and watched that lack of depth show itself
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) Hypothetically speaking if Garrapolo was released from the Pats and placed in this years draft. Wouldnt you strongly consider taking him at 3 if you are the Bears? I would, but right now we are talking about two draft picks, not one
