  1. Cassell and Garrappalo's situations couldnt be more different, really. Garrappalo has played in 2 games, Cassell got an entire season, Garrappalo was a 2nd round pick with a solid college career and draft hype, Cassell was a college backup that was expected to hold a clipboard for his career if not be a practice squad player. I think Garrappalo has a chance to be a good QB in the league, and I think the Patriots believe it also. Hard to call him a system QB if he hasnt really played in the system tho I dont want the Bears to drop a 1st and 4th on him though
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Eh. I have no interest in wasting major league money on an intentionally bad product, nor do I feel like getting excited about knowing this is going to be the worst time to be a Sox fan in decades. Hoping what might happen in five years isn't really a reason to be excited today for me. It is the route we have chosen and all, but it is so depressing. It isn't like you can sim this time period to see if it works like OOTP. You have to live through the misery. Bleh. Again, we have been depressed and living with the misery anyways. Nothing to truly look forward to except "well hopefully this guy finds the magic". You dont have to waste your money on the games if you dont want to, Cubs fans sure stayed away when they were dropping 95-100 games a few years ago. If you dont want to go to games because of the product on the field, that doesnt make you a bad fan. But you at least can look at some of the acquisitions and have some hope that it will get better. Hell, the Cubs buried Bryant in the minors when everyone knew he could more than handle major league pitching. At least you know you will be seeing Moncada and Anderson growing together pretty quickly
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) It doesn't matter what I think. But getting excited about sucking for a really long time just doesn't hold any level of excitement for me. I already passed on Soxfest because who am I going to go see? I also passed on the kids club membership, because even free tickets aren't going to be worth it this year by the time parking and ballpark prices are paid. No interest in buying into intentional and long term suck. It does matter what you think because you keep complaining about the change of course. We have been in the middle of long term suck since the end of 2006, with no plan except cobble things together and cross our fingers. It hasnt worked. They arent wanting to lose forever, there is a little bit of light in the horizon. I honestly cannot understand why this is so upsetting to you after watching the completely dead and dysfunctional product that has been thrown at us for the last 11 years
  4. peavy44, while your thoughts on the Cubs are scintillating and fascinating and other big words that i dont need to write, they are not really based in reality and have nothing to do with the topic at hand. Lets talk about Quintana, lets not turn it into an argument on why peavy44 is wrong about the cubs and cant admit that they are good.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Please tell me that's not Brandofan? lol. IIRC Brandofan has an active account, he has been back for a while now and hasnt caused much trouble at all.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Really??? It looked like an entire preview of pulling out every stereotypical scene from a horror movie that anyone could think of. This is what people have wanted, Ridley Scott to return to "Alien". While he is using a lot of the original as inspiration, the actual story hasnt even been approached yet. Considering they are going to the Engineer's home planet, and will be dealing with the engineers again, I think we can wait to see if this is a shot by shot remake of Alien. I also am looking forward to it, some of the story "leaks" that have come out are exciting if true
  7. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) Honestly, I bet Yankees are as surprised as all of us about Nightengale's tweets. I wonder if GM's ever get pissed when that happens or just chalk it up as part of the biz? Im sure Cashman understands, he has been playing that game for a long time
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) If you get money back does that mean that what you get back does not count against the luxury limit? The problem the Yankees have with Robertson is if they go over the threshold, his salary in essence is quite a bit more than they are paying him. Thats right, I forgot they are trying to avoid the repeat offender tax for being over the luxury limit for consecutive years going into 2018
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) BTW I find it so bizarre Yankees are asking for money. My message board fantasy solution would be a Frazier/Headley swap with sox getting prospects for taking on money. Maybe they are just making the sox "buy" an extra prospect that Hahn wants. We all know the Yankees are not hurting for cash, and never will be.
  10. I still am trying to process Pittsburgh having to clear that salary. Has to be a downer for those fans
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) It's called making a mockery of something absurd, not crying. Chill out SuperAdminMan. lol, you telling me to chill out after repeatedly complaining about your suspension is amusing. You are so handcuffed on this site by all of us SuperAdmins
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) ARRRRRGGGGGG!!! ( side note - be careful, you can be suspended for posting only "poop". Seriously. ) Yea, for three consectutive pages after being asked to stop. But hey, let's keep crying about it
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) I'm glad I was young when Joe Borchard busted. I don't know I could handle watching a guy hit a .900 ops in charlotte, then decline every year after and look more and more broken. Edit: Well I guess I lived it more with Beckham. IIRC it wasnt a secret that there was a huge hole in his bat, and it would get exposed in the majors. I dont remember people being surprised he fell on his face. Now I am going to go look at his draft and see who was grabbed after him, to torture myself and add some 20/20 hindsight venom edit: wow, kind of an unremarkable draft. 15th pick was Chase Utley, 29th pick was Wainwright. A bunch of nopes and fringe guys other than that
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Actually it has not been answered, but yankees are starf**&*&rs Yea, lets not forget that Cashman is still in charge. He has always bought championships, not grown them
  15. I am willing to let him get a shot next year with a drafted QB backup as well. At one point Barkley was a pretty elite prospect, he absolutely has talent.
  16. I think we all are going to have to accept that Drumpf is all about using the presidential office to acquire and consolidate power for himself and whoever is in his circle. If the US benefits from it, well, thats fine.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) I think the Cubs part is his own speculation since they have the pieces. Pretty much everything Rogers says is speculation based on what he sees in the newspaper compared against rosters
  18. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) The idea of Forman hiring ANOTHER coach is nauseating. If Hoiberg goes, Gar goes down with the ship. IMO Forman has to go first. This is his frankensteins monster, his creation, all of it. Hoiberg has 3 1/2 more years of pay, and after JR sucked up an extra year of paying Thibs, i doubt he wants to be paying Hoiberg to chill out while he is paying another coach.
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) What I find so very interesting at this juncture is that, unless I missed it somewhere, I've seen nothing come out of the Pirates' camp suggesting Meadows is "untouchable", the way it seemed the message on Bregman and Torres/Frazier was sent out almost immediately by Houston and the Yankees, respectively. Obviously if Meadows is in play in some fashion, that puts Pittsburgh in the catbird seat, as Hawk would say, in this competition for Q's services. And I, for one, am just fine with that, because the various packages from Pittsburgh including Meadows and any combination of some of the other guys they have in their system (I happen to find Newman quite intriguing) seems like a tremendous haul for Q. I could have sworn there was a tweet recently that said they had no intention of trading Meadows because he is the heir apparent to Cutch
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) Ooooh, Dick, got me again, right? Uh, that would be a no. I just don't like this prospect who is a member of the Pirates. Oh horrors! You will also note he dropped in BA's rankings as well. And to think only a year ago you (and others) were lecturing me from your high horse about the seminal, generational talents of Frazier and Samardzija. LMAO! DA?! I have argued with him a billion times against a billion things but I can assure you that he never talked about the seminal, generational talents of those two. Maybe he said they were better than the options we had, maybe you got it confused when you were talking about the seminal, generational talent of Trayce Thompson and Tyler Saladino
  21. I think i am going to check out The OA and I am going to watch Troll Hunters with my kids when it is released on Netflix tomorrow, cant go wrong with Guillermo Del Toro. Sadly it is Anton Yelchin's final performance, albeit a voice cast role
  22. When you think about it, starkiller base didn't even need to expel that sun energy towards a planet and blow it up. It basically destroyed that solar system just by killing the sun. I just put reality on pause for the most part watching these movies lol, no reason to think about the reality of what's happening
