Sox in pursuit of Puig
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Source? Did he pass through waivers without a claim? He has $14 million left on his contract the next two years...and even one arbitration year, and no team will take that on? It's because he is an asshat

Dave Kaplan reports Kenny Williams holding back Rick Hahn
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) I don't care if KW and Hahn stay, just as long as they hire a different group of people to evaluate talent and make more sound Draft choices and trade suggestions. As far as not being in the playoffs more than twice since they won it all, please.... This has been a much tougher Division than say, the National League Central and who cares if a team makes it but then gets swept four games in a row? LOL. I'd rather not make the playoffs than suffer that kind of humiliation. So you want the president and GM to hire people to make President and GM decisions And they just hired Hostetler

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Hey that article proves my point! "“I think we’ve done two encores in the history of the band, and the second one was last night,” Prowse says. " When they did it was for a great show (probably). They didn't say anything about preserving the sanctity of an encore, merely that they are usually too tired and beat the s*** out of their instruments. So, when you feel the institutionalized encore is coming, do you leave before it starts?

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) I have no problem with a long show from Pearl Jam. People pay a lot of money for those shows, it's a big event. But when you're just at a club in february for some small band and they leave their guitars out and lights low and make you wait 10 more minute sbefore playing some bsides it's just like, No. Japandroids has a nice profanity-laced tirade against encores, but, they are canadian, so may not count. Pffft lol what is this. Legitimate encores? Nonsense. It's fun, I come to see a band play, they leave for a couple minutes, catch their breaths, the crowd catches a buzz and starts ramping up again, the band comes out and kills it for a few more songs. f*** that elitist snobbery about the legitimacy of an encore, I don't come to golf clap and go home. Doesn't seem like Japandroids hate encores too too much http://myspiltmilk.com/japandroids-just-want-party Still love you bmags lol

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) I mostly just despise encore's. It's nice when British bands come to visit and upfront are like "we don't do encores, we play our show". Younger bands seem to be following that. f*** the British, encores are a blast if done right

i was surprised he gassed because it didnt appear he was overexerting himself at that point. There wasnt a lot happening on the fence, nothing went to the ground, he wasnt throwing wildly, McGregor was pacing himself well, and then all the sudden it was gone.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) There's a gif running around that I'll try to post later of the significant strikes McGregor landed. He beat the hell out of Diaz. McGregor has no business fighting at 170. His frame can't carry that weight. I hope they give him Alvarez next. There was a lot going on throughout the fight, and I am not disputing Conor won and he certainly rocked Diaz a lot more than the other way around. It was just so strange, McGregor was beating his ass and then it seemed like he hit a wall in the 2nd and Diaz started coming for him, and thats when Conor started clock watching and walking across the mat and letting Diaz chase him. It wasnt until that cut opened on Diaz in the 4th and he was constantly wiping blood away that McGregor woke up and started throwing hard punches again

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 07:59 AM) I just didn't realize they still had such a big following, now all of a sudden their Wrigley shows are hyped like the original Woodstock. Pretty much every Wrigley show is huge, Pearl Jam gets that extra boost of Vedder being a Cubs fan I thought it was pretty cool that he acknowledged the final show of the Tragically Hip and mentioned Gord.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) Did Conor need a 13 second KO to be the king? No, but I would have liked to see him more aggressive and not watching the clock the entire time

When that big cut opened over Diaz' right eye in the 4th, it pretty much ended his little run. I was pretty disappointed in McGregors strategy, he did a lot of running and never really mounted much of an attack outside a few flurries. Admittedly it won him the fight, but proclaiming "The King is Back motherf***ers!" After the fight was pretty weak. Rumble Johnson put Teixeira in another dimension, good lord. Loved the friendly banter between him and Cormier post fight, those two hooking up will be a super fun fight

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Everyone is entitled to an opinion. correct, so lets not label opposite opinions of yours "apologentsias" QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) Look how far back you had to go though. Santiago arrived in 2012. Reed arrived in 2012. If those guys were still here they'd have 1 year before free agency. If they were still here, Cleveland would still have a better rotation than us. And when they traded those guys away, they had nothing in the pipeline that was able to replace them, so they went out and spent money on the Robertsons, Latoses, and Shieldses. That is a problem. The pitching development isn't terrible, as you point out it's better than position player development, but it's not so incredible that everyone should stop questioning what they're doing with these guys. 5 years ago you could make that case, but 5 years in MLB is a long time. you just started off by saying "Go back 5 years". This is within that period. They need to develop more, no doubt, but it was within your criteria and you are wiping it aside because "cleveland would still be better", instead of your initial point of "they are developing pitchers anymore"
