  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 19, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) Scott Sheilds?lol He was so bad, his manager refused to use him for 5 years
  2. Just a fun way to see if Soxtalk can guess correctly
  3. I don't understand why Hoiberg went with the same 5 guys all throughout the 4 OTs
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) Oh Jimmy why. Yea Jimmy Yea!
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 08:41 PM) I'll never understand how De Aza went from a well above average CF to a suddenly dumb baseball player It coincided with Feeky falling in love with him
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) If he's still hitting the high 90's and dominating when he's 32 at the end of this new extension, I won't be afraid to eat my words. I just don't see it happening, especially because he's had TJ surgery recently. TJ hasn't affected his velocity in the past, iirc this is his second TJ surgery. If it was shoulder I would be concerned. This isn't a bank breaking deal to worry about
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) It's not scientifically proven or anything like that, but isn't it fair to say that a pitchers velocity "falls off" as they age? Jones' main asset is his ability to light up the radar gun and I just don't know how effective he'll be in a few years when he's only hitting 93 or 94 instead of 98 and 99 like he is now. He is 29, you are acting like he is in his mid 30s. The guy has thrown an easy high 90s since he has been on the organization, just took a very team friendly contract, and you don't like it because he -might- fall off because of an unproven(by your own admission) fall off age. That is just strange
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) I explained why I disliked it. I guess $8 million or so over 3 years isn't too bad, but I'd rather have seen that money go towards an outfielder. I don't really understand your reasoning though, I never really read anything that indicates power pitchers fall off at age 29
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) I know someone earlier mentioned the news that Holliday is getting reps at 1B now. To me, that's a great idea for the Cardinals. However, I think that instead of going after Gordon, they'll make a trade for Cargo Is that a good idea? I don't think they want to platoon Holliday and Adams
  10. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) I hate to sound like a baby but I can't give the Rams or Fisher the benefit of the doubt if someone calls them dirty. There was probably half a dozen hits to the head. I know when the player is a runner it's a different rule and things happen but Evans and Martin both were hit in the back of the head as they were close to the ground by a late arriving Rams player. And the tackles were identical. Basically just dropping their helmet onto the back of the runners head. Then the constant pushing of Winston after the plays. I guess Cam was telling the truth when he said young QBs don't get certain calls. Oh well, time to load up on defense this draft after using the last two drafts mostly on rebuilding the offense. I didnt watch the entire ketchup vs mustard bowl, but towards the end there was a helmet to helmet hit/tackle by the Rams safety that didnt get called and didnt even get mentioned by the broadcast team I want to say it was the first down right before the interception. BTW, Safarian Jenkins cost his team with that penalty after he got the first down at the one yard line, he should have been benched
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) I did something? Just sayin', two major injuries in short amount of time. That was a lot of time and effort to come back from those injuries. And that amount of money won't cripple the Sox playroll. Good for him and his career. LOL, the injury that started everything in 2014 was a strained gluteus muscles. He hurt his ass
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) Good for him. Dude worked his ass off to come back. i see what you did there
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 07:31 AM) Somehow the 92 win Dodgers can find a use for Micah. But Robin and his 76 wins couldn't fit him in. That might require platooning and late inning replacements on a regular basis. It's like the sox run the org. For the convenience of its limited field manager. Sure they stick Sanchez and Saladino out there. They had no other choice. But they could have been more creative in their use and used Micah as well. But why bother when you have Alexei to take all the snaps and beckham to fill in. Its like you never even watched Micah and his stone hands and brick glove
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) Only reason I remember it is because one of the preseason magazines that has a unique stat for every team had the "lucky" homer top 5 for the Sox, since LaRoche and Abreu were 1-2. This stat was less about Abreu and more about a potential red flag with Upton. I just don't see how you can start by saying how consistent Upton is, and then cite one of his consistent stats and call it a red flag
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 06:50 PM) Pretty decent drop in power though for him last year One less double, one more triple, and 6 less homers. I mean if you want to nitpick, whatever, but the guy still mashed. The cheapie home run stat is pretty lame Putting Laroche and Abreu on the same "falloff" plane using the cheapie home run stat is equally as lame
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 06:44 PM) I started watching some Upton highlights from last year and something jumped off the screen to me...he hit a ton of cheap homers. I looked up the stats and he was near the top of the list for lucky/cheap homers. This was one of the warning signs that people had regarding LaRoche and Abreu after 2014. Upton's average home run distance was 10 feet less in 2015 than 2014. He's a good player, but his power is his main tool and if that starts to fade, you're looking at a bad contract possibly. Doesn't seem like it was a good indicator for abreu, the guy just completed back to back seasons that only Pujols matched
  17. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) RT @ProFootballTalk: Reports: Rams won't fire Jeff Fisher https://t.co/4MVWIv3xpe Why?! Why bother, they can send him packing when they move to LA and start with a clean slate
  18. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Alex Gordon WHY DO YOU BOLD YOUR POSTS
  19. It makes things easier QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) I did not get that, I thought you were serious. If spoilers were ban worthy then I would have been gone a long time ago.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) Raburn hit over .300 last year well goddamn. im used to the previous years where he .200, .272, .171. Although he only had 200 ABs last year
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) I'd be fine with Raburn on a minor league deal with a chance to be a platoon partner with LaRoche. I would rather not have 2 guys at DH that hit around the mendoza line last season
  22. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) Banning for what? That's a pretty obvious joke. i thought my post was also a pretty obvious joke
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) Celebrate all you want, but the most important part of the offseason is whether or not JR will open the wallet on Upton, Gordon or Cespedes. Do that, you win back everyone you've lost and skepticism diminishes almost completely. Start Opening Day with Avi, Saladino and LaRoche in the line-up and expectations are tempered. Half-assed and pointless. Hanley Ramiez, CarGo, Ethier, Blackmon, Peralta, Fowler, Span or Parra leaves you somewhere in-between. 3/4's of the way but that undoubtedly means the Tigers and/or Royals have one of Upton, Gordon, Davis, Desmond or Cespedes. I havent celebrated anything. I am happy with Frazier but I understand that without another move for an outfield bat, it really doesnt mean anything. I also understand that it is December 17th and the offseason isnt done. Something you dont seem to understand while crapping all over every suggestion and idea
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) Just wait. The Frazier move has everyone excited for the moment, but if that's it, the prevailing theme definitely will be how do you go back to all-in yet again but go about it halfway? The White Sox would struggle to finish third in the division where they stand now. would you just take your rain cloud to another corner and pout there?
