  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) Why do some think what Loria is doing is crazy, yet want the White Sox to swap out managers and coaches every few weeks? Why must you generalize the site in this manner as if the situations and reactions are all equal?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 18, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) And you really think he's going to pull a Ted Turner? The fans might actually show up for that one, to see him fall flat on his face and dance on his grave. I dont think he will, no, but I think him constantly blaming and firing managers and GMs really sucks. Deadspin has a few articles about how he overrides tons of personnel moves and a lot of it really messes up the way the teams are built. But, alas, you cannot fire the owner
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) I don't know if he had much of a say in becoming the manager but either way if the team fails, now it is all on him. It doesn't appear he will be continuing GM duties while in uniform. It does put a lot more accountability on the GM. Gar/Pax should take to the bench if they get rid of Thibs. Put your necks on the line. Really though, from everything we have read about this, the guy who should truly have his neck on the line is Loria. His fingerprints are all over this team
  4. QUOTE (MEANS @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) Isn't it Oscar Isaac? Same guy that's playing the X wing fighter pilot in SW:TFA Yes, it is Oscar, not Jason QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Mad Max was brilliant. It was just crazy over the top action. It also figures that one of the better action movies of the past 10 years is out grossed by a singing competition movie. you can thank Rowand44 for that
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:15 AM) In one of the worst career decisions in MLB history, he's stepping down as GM for the least desirable managing position in baseball. YOLO
  6. I hope he does. Then I won't have to ask how much rope he gets
  7. Avi! Danks! Robo! Get the Oakland trip out of the way with some wins and you can consider it a good season, lol!
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 16, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) He did it again tonight. 478 feet dead center, and some guy caught it barehanded http://deadspin.com/giancarlo-stantons-moo...-who-1704968035
  9. QUOTE (staxx @ May 16, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) I've never seen the ball explode off the bat like it does with him. I have once. Bo QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2015 -> 10:19 AM) Rasmus much more comfortable in Houston... http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/rasmus-...d:outbrain:sold Aw, it is so nice that he can underachieve in relative obscurity while playing for the Astros. I'm sure his dad is happy that nobody cares he is hitting .230
  10. QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 16, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) I get that, but he had an off day before yesterday's game too. In an important game to win, he should've been able to pitch. That's why the Sox paid him $48 million+. So he could close big games. They didn't pay him 48 million to wear out his arm in the first two months of the deal. It's ok to give a guy rest sometimes, especially when he has been a little more hittable and less sharp recently.

  12. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 15, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) You'd somehow have to do 2 seperate deals I guess if that makes any sense. There's no way Orlando gives up a top 5 pick for Thibs, maybe a future 1st, but Hennigan is very big on building through the draft. With Harris as well, it depends on how much you're going to pay him. I don't think he's worth a MAX deal (I'd rather Winslow or Stanley Johnson in the draft unless we get the top pick), but a team like the Knicks or Lakers might offer him the MAX, so Orlando might not match. If Thibs went to Orlando though, I could definitely see them going after Gibson, he's exactly what they need in terms of a 4 to play next to Vucevic. Could probably do a trade deal with someone like Kyle O'Quinn if the Bulls wanted a 4/5 back who is younger and cheaper and a similar sort of player perhaps. Woj talked about this today, there is something in the CBA that prevents the teams from doing a side deal as compensation, the teams cannot have a player deal for like a year or something.
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 15, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) Is this doable? No, players cannot be involved in a deal for a coach, only picks
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) That's the question - is Rose a Max contract player next year or not? If he's not then they're a playoff team that can't win a title because they're paying $20 mil a year for a $12 mil a year player. If he takes a step forwards somehow, then this team is a title contender. IMO it really is that simple, they have a solid roster around him that is likely to keep improving unless their next coach is another VDN. If Rose can take another step forwards next year towards a top level player, they're a title contender no matter what moves they make (unless they let Jimmy walk). If Rose is at this level the rest of his career, then they're not a title contender until his contract is over. Oh, and if they don't offer Jimmy a max deal right away, they should actually still be ok because they should be able to just match whatever any other team offers him as an RFA. Since there's a max-level, even if some team tried to front-load/poison-pill a contract there's really not much they can do. i thought the new CBA prohibits this
  15. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 15, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Yea, the A's aren't nearly as bad as their record indicates. Their 1-11 record in one run games is what makes them appear to be so bad. 1-11 in one run games vs 4-13 on the road. Immovable object vs unstoppable force
  16. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 15, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) Look at your post. In his last 10 games going back to 5/3 he has hit .222. So the other games in May dont count?
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 15, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) The Bulls don't really have a choice but to go for it again the next 2 seasons. They have Rose's contract on the books, 1 more season of Gasol, and an impending max deal for Butler. Many in this thread have touched on the team's needs. I think they need to explore dumping Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson. Hopefully, they can use the savings to get more athletic at other spots. The salaries are a problem though. I can find someone to do Noah's job for less than the $12.5 million owed to him and Taj Gibson is just not an $8 million per year player. That leaves the team weaker defensively but they'd need to find cheaper replacements somehow. I feel like LaMarcus Aldridge is a pipe dream but if that is at all possible, they need to explore it. He shares an agent with Rose and rumors were that Chicago was a place he'd like to play. Regardless, should be an interesting offseason on the horizon yet again...... The thing is, Noah is an expiring contract. So while his skills are vastly declined and the player may not be in demand, he does have value to other teams.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) The new Mad Max movie has only 1 negative review out of around 120 at RT (and yet there doesn't seem to be a huge buzz about it...maybe Tom Hardy just doesn't have a big enough fanbase/awareness yet?). Pitch Perfect 2, which is widely expected to win the box office battle this weekend, is around 75%, which is still not too bad for a sequel. Yea, maybe not in China. That movie is making waves in the US
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) You are way too nice to Hinrich. He is hilariously bad at basketball at this point and the fact that Thibs continues to give him decent minutes is a joke. 20 minute yesterday without producing anything positive and that really hasn't been the exception to the rule for him. what sucks is Hinrichs future is in his own hands. He has a player option
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) Evidently, if the Bulls were able to time things right with Jimmy Butler's max deal, they would be able to move Taj / Noah and be in a position to offer max money to one of Aldridge / Gasol / Love. "Pau, talk to Marc. Tell him about the opera"
  21. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 15, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) pew pew I am just trying to get him to issue more possible threats of personal attacks.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 15, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) I wouldn't mind being forced to start 15 more consecutive game threads make sure B>W doesnt cut in and take a gamethread in the middle of your streak.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 15, 2015 -> 08:38 AM) It's funny cause the CW shows are pretty good as of late. Arrow, The Flash and iZombie. They also just came out with a trailer for Legends of Tomorrow and it looks awesome. I think Supergirl could fit in there though because the audience target is younger than CBS primetime. And, it is supposed to be part of the same universe as Flash/Arrow/LoT. Just seems silly to put it on another channel
  24. For us it has to cross the plate as well. I have played in leagues where you can steal bases too, now that is weird. The pitcher can fake pitch, and if he fakes and you are off the base, you are out. If he delivers the pitch to the plate you can run
  25. The Bears also have hired Anthony "Champ" Kelly as director of Player Personnel, he had been Asst Director of Player Personnel for the Broncos http://www.9news.com/story/sports/nfl/denv...kelly/27333393/
