My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) Yeah either try Alvarez for LaRoche + cash (Pirates seem to value some defense at first, LaRoche has already played there, and each only have a year left until free agency) or as mentioned: Quintana + LaRoche for Puig with Dodgers taking on all of LaRoche's one year remaining deal. I would prefer the deal with Pit and then moving Q for strictly MLB ready/productive bats however. Alvarez would slide nicely into that "low batting average, homer or nothing, high strikeout, left handed bat from the NL" DH position that we have loved so much since Thome was replaced by Dunn

2015 Films thread
Hook is still fun to watch with the kids. It isnt a oscar winner, but I enjoyed the "What happened after peter pan grew up" take on the story, and I thought Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins all nailed their roles. When my kids watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates, i still think of Bob Hoskins as Smee

They keep trotting out Peter Pan every 5-10 years and call it a groundbreaking new take of the movie. The only one I enjoyed was Hook

Has the country (or the world) really gone this far off the rails?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) Guys, most rational people agree with me. America is not safe. America is less safe than 20 years ago. Cmon. Do you guys live in a bubble? Oh the irony You talk of rational people, and try to tell us that Rush Limbaugh is one of these rational people

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) The world maybe. America? Safer than before? Cmon. You can make any stats fit any argument. America is a dangerous land. Why dont you make stats fit your argument that it is less safe?

Hahn Confirms: Ventura back for 2016
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) Teams don't eat salaries. When a guy is making that much, they play them. It's another of baseball's unwritten rules. No matter how bad you are, if you have one of those good free agent contracts you play. Exactly. Robin knows LaRoche blows. He can't do anything about it. You play him til mercifully the contract runs out or he retires. Like Keppinger, right?

2015-2016 NFL Thread
Olin Kreutz mentioned that Grasu may just need to learn about leverage in the NFL. The guy looks small in pads, but he is pretty tall at 6'3" for a center, and is listed at 300lbs. Olin said his first practice first play Mike Wells came across the line in pursuit and completely blasted him onto his back, because he had no idea how to use leverage

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) Stephen A's first comment was absolutely fine. No idea why kd wanted to attack him for that. But yeah the rebuttal...haha KD didnt attack him, he just said SAS is a liar because he isnt getting his info from anyone around KD. SAS laid out a list of teams that KD is going to as if he heard it from KD

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
The Cardinals remind me of the 2000 White Sox. Just ran out in front of the pack and held on because of the lead they amassed, but injuries devastated them down the stretch. Once the playoffs hit, they were spent

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 08:45 AM) Do you think it has more to do with the downgrade in talent around him, or are defenses starting to catch up to these types of QBs? IIRC, he made his first start vs. the Bears, and the Bears had no chance against him. The talent downgrade happened in the offseason, last year his offense was pretty intact from the super bowl team and he looked just like this. The NFL figured him out, they force him to do things that make him uncomfortable, and he makes mistakes. He has zero touch on his passes and it hurts him badly

Ahmed: Child inventor or part of hoax?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Funny how the news cycle works. Ahmed is such old news. His 20 minutes of fame have expired. Gotta strike when the iron is hot like his family did ... however, now reality sets in. He needs to find a new school and continue on with his life.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) They gave up their 6th already for Suisham, I'm genuinely surprised you woudln't want something higher. If they plan on trading another draft pick for a kicker, their GM should be fired on the spot QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) Right but there's "not exactly a pillar on the line" and "I couldn't beat out someone now on the practice squad of another team" Charles Leno how about that Kyle Long guy? Seems pillar-ish to me. Im sure Cutlers availability in the game will be determined by his own mobility, not his line
